National Spotlight - Face it Buffalo is not much of a story

Recommended Posts

Speaking of the spotlight it looks like the Bills vs Seahawks is one of the best games on FOX. You do have the Bears vs Titans which is an attractive game and Chicago is a big market. Then there is Chiefs vs Panthers. You have Mahomes and the Chiefs but Carolina is meh. I wonder if we get the FOX #1 team in Aikman and Buck. 6-1 Seattle vs 6-2 Buffalo and Wilson is one of the league's biggest stars.

We’ve been getting a ton of attention I see that Derrick Henry right hook two or three times a day.

I still think it's funny this play is getting so much attention. Sure, Norman got stiff armed into a parallel universe, but he slowed Henry down enough that it was only a 4 yard gain. And the play had offsetting penalties anyway so it was 100% irrelevant to the outcome of the game.

Myers & Jennings for this game. Which is great as Aikman gives my arse a headache.

The Bills are ranked between 6th and 9th in the major power rankings-- CBS, ESPN, USA Today, NFL and Washington Post.  That's just about right, and plenty of respect from the chattering class.  Why that matters I don't know, because they are just opinions.  You are what your record says you are, and that's 6-2 with a fairly difficult schedule thus far.

I really just want one game this year where I can relax and enjoy a dominate performance by the Bills. Instead of feeling dread through the whole second half.

A laugher would be quite nice.

I'm a fan & that is what I expected.....  They're perfectly fine, just want to see the Offense playing like they were weeks 1-4 and blaim McD & coaching.

As fans we expect better.

Ricky Bobby syndrome.  You are either first or you are last it seems.

They were after week 4, but now not so much as people for the most part are meh about a 6-2 team that has not played well the past four weeks.

I wish it was different, but it is what it is.

Look at the stories going on.....

WIlson and the 6-1 Seahwaks, Pitt undefeated, KC being KC, TB  & TB, Brees and what exactly are the Saints, NYJ (ha ha ha), Dallas (what a disaster), Rodgers regressing, Baltimore and has the league figured out Lamar, Arizona & is Kyler a star, Burrow, Herbert........

I want the Bills in thew spotlight and hope that changes the next two weeks.

You're right and I can't say that I have been that excited about the Bills performances against the Titans, Chiefs, Jets or Patriots either but they can change that with wins against the Seahawks and Cardinals the next two weeks.  They need some wins against teams that are play-off bound this year

It doesnt matter how well they played in September or how poorly they played in October.  Post Thankgiving can Buffalo play their best football.  If Buffalo can run the ball when they want to, and play scrappy defense they will be a tough out for anyone.  I think the last to weeks were good ugly wins.  The defense played better.  Sea at home at 1pm is a winnable game.  Buffalo wins the league takes notice.  Even so the teams that win superbowls play the best in December and January.

It comes down to a storyline and right now JA has chilled a bit. But right back in the spotlight with games against Wilson ( the first half MVP) and the a bit overhyped but electric K Murray will give the Bills an opportunity. If they excel the spotlight will shine bright. Two losses will bring in the pretenders discussion. Two wins it’s all about the Bills. Just how the media cycle goes. I really feel the pressure to beat the Pats is unreal and I expect the next two games to see an improvement from the Bills. They will need it!

I was going to give you a thumbs up, but I highlighted where we disagree.

Two losses & they are pretenders, no ifs, ands or buts.....

The only people it affected (pressure) was the Coaching staff, who were not great in the game.  Allowing the NE Offense to move the ball effotlessly the second half.

Their first drive the second half was 32 yards & then they went TD, TD & 65 yards (fumbling on the 14).  Like a hot knife through butter.

Rams and Raiders could be playoff bound.

I just don't care.

I wish the Bills were 8-0.  I hope they win out.  And more than anything, I hope they win the Super Bowl.

But I don't care about the spotlight.  Since pretty much the only sports I watch is Bills games - including pregame and halftime - I barely even notice whether or not we're getting any.  I truly couldn't care less what the pundits think.

You folks on this site are more knowledgeable about the Bills than the national media guys anyway.  If I want good useful analysis to help form my own opinions, I come here.  The national hype is unimportant.

Possibly but not certainly, I should have been clearer I meant the teams that are legitimate contenders for the Super Bowl.  The Seahawks and Cardinals are playing much better football than those two right now.

Give Lamar a chance against this D, my Gawd.

I don't know in both the Tenn and KC game the Bills set out to stop one thing, Henry running and KC passing and they did, but then Tenn passing and KC running hurt them.  Not sure Lamar passing could do that much damage?

No it is important to others.  Outside today have I started a thread, posted a link or a story concerning the National Media and the Bills?  Today I posted an observation.

I do like when they talk about the Bills & it is fun.  Much more in teresting then local coverage I can assure you.

Get your facts straight.

Both of those games had a ton of mistakes too.  Roberts drop/INT, False start on 3rd and 1 causing a 3 and out,  40yd punt return, Diggs drop, Allen int.  3 big mistakes = 3 short fields.

KC is some of the same.  Down 3 before half, out of the 2 min warning we call a run on 2nd and 3 and lose 6 yards.  The kelce play was big, but don't forget we could have been tied or even up if we had better offensive execution.  Down 10, stuffed on 3rd and 1, penalty on 4th and 1.  You can't do that kinda stuff and win games.

Hopefully, some guys are getting healthy.   If Brown,  Milano , Edmunds, Hyde,  Morse , etc etc.  are still walking wounded for the next 2 weeks, a split of the next two games would be an amazing achievement.  This team needs the bye like no one else..   The injuries have hit exactly where the team is thin (eg. LB) so the bye could not come at a better time.  Next man up is garbage in today's NFL.  You get a bunch of key injuries , you are largely screwed if you are playing top 10 teams.   No way they get past Seattle/RWilson unless they are healthier than I think they are.   Don't know much about Az.

My guess is the media ignores until December at the earliest.

the media love affair ended when we struggled to beat the jets with field goals

I think everyone knows we are most likely a one and done team in one of the worst divisions in the league. our most likely playoff opponent if we win the division will be Baltimore who may possibly be the worst matchup in the whole league for us

Agree, unless they get healthy and that makes a big difference and gets them on a roll.   I could see Bills losing the next two games, but going 4-2 after the bye given the schedule (S.Fran looks beat up, Phins, Pats, Broncos, Chargers they will compete straight up or better with).   Obviously, somehow getting past Seattle puts them back on the map, but that game looks like a bad bet with a bunch of guys playing in shoulder slings.   Teams have decided to play 2 deep zone to neutralize both the crossing routes and Josh's running; so the willing will be ugly (run game, underneath zone passing, etc) , so all the exciting offense of the first month is likely reduced, making them less media-interesting even if they do win.

I've not started a single thread prior to today or linked a national thread.  I've commented on many.

But we do know Bills fans are much smart (you in particular) then the rubes who are in the national spotlight.

How can a team stop everything the Bills do so easily and turn Allen into a game manager?????  Sounds like McD talking.

Here we go again, manage the clock, play within the 20's and don't make mistakes.

If they come out trying to establish the run and time possession.....  Ughhhhhhh

The Bills are playing the worst defense in the NFL this week,  No excuses to not sling it & put up 35+....

you jump into every thread you get a chance to a repeat yourself.  who cares if you started a thread.

and when it comes to the national media...they seem to be far more up on the bills than you are.  i always listen to sirius nfl, and they're regularly praising this staff and the good work this team has done so far.  it's only when i come on here that i see such negativity.  i think you should call them and explain how you feel about 300 yard games...they'd laugh you right off the air.

A millisecond earlier we could have had a fumble recovery fairly deep in KC territory with a chance to tie the game late in the 4th

Seattle is a legit Super Bowl contender. The Cards are a funny team. They beat Seattle but lose to Detroit at home. Don't  get me wrong if the Bills beat the Cards it will be a good win but I wouldn't put the Cards on the Seahawks level just yet. Arizona and Buffalo are very similar. Two teams trending in the right direction but not one of the elite teams yet.

First meaningful win we've had against the Pats since email became a thing, and ALL anyone talked about after that game was Cam & the end of the dynasty.

Which concerns me not at all.  We've had a few years where we were hyped and fizzled. I'd rather go under the radar and then when we make a deep playoff run, have pundits say, "oh, yeah - the Bills."
