We actually are in 8th yards per game allowed, but that's just because teams have been throwing so much against us. We're tied for 16th in yards per carry allowed.

Phillips getting more snaps at the Number 1 technique, made a big difference in the last game.  Hopefully that is a sign of good things to come.  Before he went out with that injury, he was playing really well against the run.

He’s been really hesitant this year. We expected him to take a step forward from last year, which ended well, but it’s exacerbated with defensive play across the league taking a major dip.

My understanding is that it's all about testing and following protocols. They shut down the Vikings for like 1 day until they could confirm they had no positives, but then after that it was just testing. If we keep testing negative we should be fine to continue as normal.

Guys, by the time it hits TN, it will be nothing but a tropical storm at most.  That much land crossing will lose all of it’s steam.  Trust me from someone who has lived through about 20 hurricane watches easily over the last 25 years.  Warm water gives these things strength, and the water in the gulf is not as warm as it was in August.  Don’t worry about it.  It will just look like a rainy game.  If anything it hurts Tammy’s weak arm, amd advantage to Allen’s strong arm in the rain.  Now Henry will be tough to stop in the slop.

It was actually two days for Vikes. They got the news of the positive test on Tuesday morning. Nfl and nflpa had them evacuate their facility early that day. They opened it back up on Thursday. 
 

One difference with their situation and the Bills is that the titans who tested positive were in their facility. Whereas the Bills traveled to the raiders.

The entire team in TN has tested negative for two days so not a big deal.  Supposedly they can open by tomorrow afternoon so it’s not like they are in a rhythm.  Another advantage for us.

Josh Allen is the top dual-threat QB in the NFL

With all due respect to reigning MVP Lamar Jackson, it's Josh Allen who just became the first player in NFL history to post at least 12 pass TDs and three rush TDs in his team's first four games. Allen is thriving as a passer in 2020, ranking second in pass YPG (331.5) and third in passer rating (122.7). Plus, he's a force in the running game: He ranks fourth in carries (25) and is tied for third in rushing TDs (3) among quarterbacks.

Just take a look at Allen's numbers through Week 4 compared with Jackson's through his first four games of the 2019 season:

• Allen: 70.9 completion rate, 1,409 total yards (pass + rush), 15 total TDs, 122.7 passer rating.
• Jackson: 64.9 completion rate, 1,348 total yards (pass + rush), 11 total TDs, 109.4 passer rating.

As sensational as Jackson was right out of the gate last year, Allen's production thus far is better.

The #2 rushing attack on yds , #8 for ypa, lost the superbowl to....

In his defense, he said we have to be able to

run the ball if we want to win playoff games.  The chiefs averaged 89 yards a game during the season. In the playoffs, their lowest rushing yards output was 112 yards.  I agree that it’s in our best Interest to get our running game on track so we can keep defenses a little more honest come playoff time bs some of the better defenses.  There are currently only 2 teams that have a lower YPC than us right now.  3.7 is pathetic.  If we want to win the SB, that number needs to be better come the playoffs imo

I agree it's in our best interest to get our running game more on track simply because in the Chess Match of football, if you have a deficiency in your game, good teams will inevitably figure out how to exploit it.

 

My point was that "because we have to be able to do that to win playoff games" isn't a particularly strong argument, because teams that can run the ball capably have lost playoff games and because teams that have a limited run game and pass very effectively have won.

 

Right now early in the season IMO teams are "probing out" whether our passing success is a fluke.  The thinking still is, "make Josh Allen beat you from the pocket" and "oh, but the Jets and Miami used very simple defensive schemes, he won't be able to pass like that against our super-duper whooper confusing reusing defense".  They are determined to keep Josh from beating them with his legs.

 

I think if our pass game can stay hot for a few more games, we'll start to have more rush opportunities.  I think we are also shifting our OL around to try to fix the run game and hopefully that will help

still a long way to go.  We should be able to improve on what has been a punchless running game.  If we don’t, it’s gonna be tough to win a title.  3.7 ypc/80 ypc isn’t going to cut it in the playoffs imo.

Honestly looking at the future slates of games on 506.  We will only get Romo once this year and that is week 10 against Arizona. 

 Thats bc its masters weekend on CBS only has 3 games total. and the others are LV vs Den and NYJ vs Mia

 

Other weeks where are on CBS and have a good opponent has games like TB-KC and KC-NO.  They will always choose Brady and Brees vs Mahomes. 

 

The other week that is a possibility is week 8 against NE. But Big Ben vs Lamar is the same day and time so could easily lose out to that.
