Logic
Basically, as players return to team facilities over the next couple of months, we just need to brace ourselves for the fact that likely all 32 teams will have positive COVID tests. There are 90 players on each roster. The likelihood that ZERO players test positive on any given team is extremely low. It doesn't mean everything is going to shut down or that there won't be a season, necessarily -- although it COULD mean those things. Andrew Brandt said it well on Twitter: The primary factor in whether or not we have a 2020 NFL season will be the extent of the NFL owners' greed, and how they weigh the opportunity cost of profits vs safety of their players, coaching and support staffs, and fans. The other thing I could see playing a major role is if a player or coach ends up being hospitalized or dying from COVID. Bear in mind that many coaches are solidly in the "at risk" group, as are a fair amount of offensive linemen. There is a certain point past which even the money-obsessed owners will not be able to justify moving forward with a season.

Doc
They all need to be tested by the latest the 1st of July and have players start sequestering themselves. That gives anyone positive at least 3-4 weeks to quarantine and recover.

Would you include the players' immediate families in the testing and sequestering? That's where it gets tricky. Not sure players/coaches/staff will want to spend months away from family. I'm in a 4-sport league with seven others (three of whom are Bills fans) and we are in holding mode -- we did a seasonal draft when it looked like baseball was going back, but are now holding again. In the meantime, we've been doing a throwback league starting in 1978. I won 1979 and have been mediocre since, but 1984 looks good. I had Joe Ferguson, btw (he was up and down). I highly recommend it if you're missing fantasy sports. You can even create your own rules.

Penfield45
In England their first round of testing yielded only 4 positive results from 900+ tests from staff and players in the Premier league I'd say the NFL would have a much larger positive case # considering how little teams are controlling their players Edited June 20, 2020 by Penfield45

I realize they get paid well, but I can’t imagine these guys agreeing to it. Would pro athletes really agree to not seeing family, friends, and various female friends for six months or so ? I find it hard to believe. It’s easy for us to say “sequester them”, but they are human beings. I understand that many people have professions which take them away for long periods of time, but NFL players will have a job waiting for them in 2021 if the players union says no. Working as a lab person running emergency testing in ICUs - I have seen way to many to count. It has ranged from several “healthy” people in their 30s and 40s to way to many people in their 60-90s. Very frustrating and scary - I have seen some of the strongest and bravest nurses just broken down as there was so little they could do. I also support a couple of local nursing homes and have watched it just ravage that population - people I have seen for years just wiped out as this virus has gone through entire floors. On a personal level - luckily my family and extended family has been safe, but two sister in laws have spent extended time in the hospital after getting it, but both made it out alive. I feel blessed they got it later because both got treatments like forcing time on their stomachs and holding off on ventilators even though their O2 levels were getting critically low - that were not widely known at the beginning and has saved lives. 1

Hebert19
I'm going to he political here but if not for Trump pushing to get the economy back up football season would have happened. But instead. Cases are escalating with not plan to dial things back. Nevermind football. 10s of thousands of people are going to die that didn't need to. Sickens me to say but no football likely and no break to corona until there is a vaccine. There could have been at least a mild reprieve....not now.
