Jerome007
It's a good idea... but I'm sure they had one already. And seriously, this team has been mentally tough. Great chemistry and team bonds. Even the locker room interviews you could just sense they are simply winners, on a high level. Of course any and all edge are welcome. But it's not been a weakness IMO

Estro
This is great news. I commented several times this season it seems Josh Allen has a serious mental nerves/jittery problem. I think sometimes he just totally psyches himself out to the point of it debilitating his play. Hopefully someone highly trained in this field can get him to fix the issue. I see an alpha guy who has great physical gifts and, because of that combination, believes he can always make something happen. I don't think nerves are a major issue with him; I think discernment is his biggest issue.

Coach Tuesday
I’ve been suggesting this all season - Allen gets too amped up for big games and starts the game all jittery, he glitches. Houston was the first time I saw it later in the game (he usually settles down once he gets into the game flow). Beane sort of confirmed the issue during the postgame PC. No promise that this fixes the issue but it can’t hurt to try.

Works pretty well at Ohio state. I don’t think the above issue is as much a result of having a mental health professional available, as it is them not being aligned with the organization on player treatment.

You ever watch the Metallica documentary? They brought in a psychologist to help sort out infra-band issues and the psychologist started to believe that he was part of the band and they unified around firing him. All captured in the documentary. Pretty wild stuff.

I see an alpha guy who has great physical gifts and, because of that combination, believes he can always make something happen. I don't think nerves are a major issue with him; I think discernment is his biggest issue. Right on. I do think there’s some psychology involved, or maybe places where a savvy and practical psychologist could help. Josh says all the right things in pressers -“ I don’t have to be the best QB on the field, I just have to be the best QB for this team and help us win” But internally, any kid who made his way from JuCo to an NFL starter with 1000 letters, 1 Div 1 offer, and a chorus of “inaccurate” “joke of a first round pick” along the way has to be fiercely driven to be the best and to prove it. He also has the normal top level competitor drive to win and hatred of losing. When the game gets heated, it’s only natural he’ll start pressing. Both he and his coaches/key teammates could benefit I think from some practical tools to help bridge the gap between what he knows abstractly to be true, and where he is in the moment. I’ll be straight, I’m a bench scientist by nature and training and like most of my kind I trend towards finding psychology hoodoo and hokey. But I’ve also been in situations where I had occasion to use thought patterns that were drilled into me and linked to something simple, like the physical gesture of reaching out with two fingers and setting them on a surface and feeling those thought patterns snap into place. Or using implementation intention strategies. It worked like 3-2-1 liftoff. So there’s something there.
