I never posted a link to an article. So where did you get the "20 years old" thing?

I apologize if it wasn't your post that I saw in this thread. but it was dated to 1997.

It's really not. Has there been a controlled study done on the Icelandic people? If so, that would be interesting. But making a correlation like that and then making claims based on that is not arguable. I'll use the age old cliche: "Correlation does not equal causation".

I''ll throw in another old adage...anything done in moderation is fine. anything done in excess is habit forming

I used good old Wikipedia which cites actual scientific studies ranging from about 1998 to 2018.

Not wrong. It isn't a toxin.

Toxin:

"An antigenic poison or venom of plant or animal origin, especially one produced by or derived from microorganisms and causing disease when present at low concentration in the body."

"A poisonous substance that is a specific product of the metabolic activities of a living organism and is usually very unstable, notably toxic when introduced into the tissues, and typically capable of inducing antibody formation."

"Any poison produced by an organism, characterized by antigenicity in certain animals and high molecular weight, and including the bacterial toxins that are the causative agents of tetanus, diphtheria, etc., and such plant and animal toxins as ricin and snake venom."

You mean like that stuff we get from trees when you give them CO2 and light and water...

It's relative and based on concentration.

We can partially agree there. I wouldn't say ANYTHING is fine, even in moderation, but I agree with the premise.

Well you certainly used one small part of the definition. Maybe try using the whole definition next time.

Science doesn't prove things. Science provides models based on evidence.

Do you know what subjective means? Based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions. Do you know what the most effective form of treatment in history is? The placebo.

And regardless, medical marijuana is not the topic here. There is a huge difference between that and recreational smoking.

For someone asking about subjectivity, you really seem to get hung up on technical definitions and narrow interpretations when it suits you.

True that. Yes, heavily processed meats (like Bacon) were recently added to the list of carcinogens by the World Health Organization because they have been shown to cause cancer. Didn't know about coffee, but I don't drink coffee.

Do you eat bacon?

Not often. I think bacon is too strong. Any food with a little bacon makes the whole thing taste like ... bacon. I liked it a lot when I was a kid, but now I don't. I generally try to stay away from processed meats.

I also don't drink milk. Anyone else want to know about my diet?!

THE Bill Walton? SHOCKING, I tell you!

?

I just thought it was nuts that the entire team would be high, every game, and they virtually never lost. He was part of the 88 game in a row win streak and his record was 86-4 over his career. That's what weed can do for you!

here's another...Google red meat consumption. and vaping. from 10 years ago compared to today. just saying...

Pfft! science! the only scientifically thing proven to change time and time again?

He's one of the smartest idiots around. ;)

Indeed he is. And he is a happy and joyous man who doesn't treat the sports world he covers as being a life and death enterprise. He is a free thinker and an unbridled commentator. It's fun to observe the people who work the games with him. Some go along and let it flow and others are mystified and overwhelmed.

I think weed was a vacation from the stuff Walton did.  Didn’t he used to follow the Dead around?

Yes he did. And he still wears those Dead shirts.

Absolutely. And very good point. I used to find hm amusing and entertaining. But after so many bizarre things I tuned him out.

Being bizarre is his status quo. If one would have to be around him a lot it would be fatiguing.

Being on the west coast I'm sure you are aware that In college a lot of the people who covered UCLA basketball didn't like him because they thought he was arrogant and standoffish. The reality was that he was a big stutterer and was reluctant to talk to the media.

Again, go look at the context of the thread. I said as much up there. Pound for pound, smoke is worse.

You’re switching the argument (that you weren’t even an original part of) now. I’m saying that inhaling smoke intentionally is bad for the body. Done for no reason other than electively, it’s not wise. Same as how eating excessive sugar for no reason other than joy is unwise.

Who said anything about excess?

Has nothing to do with Harvin.  It is sad that you are too ignorant to see it.

Not generally, but that's just because I don't think about it. I don't eat a ton of meat. Mostly plant based.

People use substances as excuses for why they do not meet their full potential. Xanax, cannabis, alcohol, whatever the crutch is is no excuse.

Percy has a mental problem, and he is attempting to self medicate. It’s the user, not the substance. Everything is bad if abused, yes, everything.

Moderation is the key to a successful life.

Once again, shallow insults are not necessary.

Youre in the purple stage of concussion protocol. Only 4 colors and 3 shapes left and you’ll be right as rain.

Weed also helps with migraines so he had more than one reason. Marijuana is not a performance enhancing drug and has many medical benefits, even more so than those damn narcotics they are quick to prescribe. Hopefully the NFL will soon realize how ridiculous it is to test for it.

No ish it isn't performance enhancing... how can someone who is high be sharp and crisp at a pro level? If you are high on the job, you're basically stealing money from your employer. We're not talking about occasional use... he said EVERY GAME.
