How about act like a qb and slide. Lowering your head for extra yards is just asking for injury. Pretty dumb for a second year qb. He shouldn’t have even been in that situation, a series of dumb decisions put him at risk.

Thats the key word here, risk. He shouldn’t be exposed to this type of danger.

I’m starting to come across the word dumb more and more when people talk about Josh Allen’s game. He’s reckless at times but I think he will learn and play smarter.

Dumb is just an adjective that could be replaced with any other word describing lack of intelligence. Today was extraordinary.

I’m hopeful he will learn to play smarter, his team and fans depend on him.  He has the potential to be great.

I suppose you are going to ignore where he says Brady also does this?

Off topic, but did anyone see the hit M. Peters ( Rams DB) took when returning a pick six today vs Tampa Bay ?...he got absolutely destroy by a Oline guy.....I am surprised he got up.....that hit looked awful...

One of the hardest hits I recall seeing. Like a truck and a Mini Cooper colliding full speed.

That was frightful.  He literally could have been killed.

Saw that too. Teammates had to lift him up an basically carry him off.  He’s got 180 vs 300 lbs full speed blasted.

Me thinks this thread isn’t actually about updates anymore...

Your question of the continuity of this thread is not an update.. .my pointing this out isnt much of an update either. I would apologize but that too would not be an update. Back to the arguing about the concussion guys. Sorry.

To be honest... cole beasely just stood there and watched allen run. He was in front of allen and could have blocked the guy who hit him, but if you watch replay beasely is literally just standing there doing nothing the entire time allen is scrambling.

Why???

Just saw it on the news. Cle was not in a place to make a block. Josh was tied up and then the hit came. Literally seconds to react and he would have had to run around the tackle (clean one) to make the block

Even if it is not intention to hurt..... if the NFL wants to stop helmet-to-helmet, it has to be consistent.

You lay your helmet into another player’s helmet making a tackle, you’re gone.

Agreed, and anyone who says it wasn't dirty need only look at the db's reaction.

It was 3rd down in the 4th Quarter down 6.   Nobody is sliding there.

SOMEbody would.  I have a memory of it happening in a Bills game....but can't remember who it was.  Similar situation and I think the quarterback stepped out of bounds....and we were furious (as we should be).  You play to win the games. Maybe it was Kyle Orton?  Seems it was about that time period.

It was Kyle Orton. He was all but retired at that point, self-preservation was his approach.

Exactly. The way he flexed and was proud of himself was terrible. That starts with his coaches. The league won’t send a message but it should. One of the young yo and coming QB’s is victim of a blatant helmet to helmet.

The league needs to worry less about Tom, he is on his way down in a hurry. Put as much protection in the young guys, they are the future of the league. Tom is the past, by end of the year we will all see it.

Vegas had their fingerprints ALL OVER this game. Bills covered the spread and the game was well under the 47 points anticipated! It was a rigged game for the house!

Does anyone have a step by step chart of the concussion protocol and what is needed to pass each stage?

I'm wondering if like the first stage is to wait  a few days, which right there might kill Allen's availability for Sunday.  I'm not at all confident in Barkley and Allen needs to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible so this defense is not wasted.

Did Allen have any known concussions in college? All I knew about was the shoulder injury.

Thanks

Yeah, he's not playing Sunday...

It depends he could practice by Wednesday or Thursday if he clears some steps and still be in the protocol as long as the neurologist signs off before Sunday.

It just strikes me that this coaching staff would go with the guy taking 1st team reps all week, Barkley.  Allen would have to be practicing Wed and Thurs with the guarantee he'd start, otherwise he's taking reps from Barkley.

You know when the defense is off sides, they say the QB gets a "free play"?

Right now, if there is an offensive flag thrown during a play, the defense gets a free dirty hit!

Esp. if you play for the Cheats.

WTF

Our receivers are better suited for Barkley's game than Allen's. They get open and it seems the only throw Allen makes consistently is when he is on the run.

Allen's long ball is beyond awful and his short ball is worse. He's a great leader and makes exciting plays but I'm not convinced he's a starter in this league.

no proof of that Many players have been cleared from the protocol in a week.

I guess what I am saying is he'd need to be cleared early in the week to get practice reps. All those steps seem like they would take a week at least.

I guess I'm basing my opinion on the game plan changes with Barkley at QB vs. Allen, maybe it doesn't.

Maybe I’m one of the few that feels this way but as much as I would rather have Allen out there competing I don’t think there’s much of a drop off with Barkley. He had us a yard away from the go ahead TD if not for a Gilmore tackle and then Gore getting stuffed on the next play followed by a pass off Zay Jones’ hands that Duke Williams would have grabbed (they had obvious chemistry in pre-season I’d call him up for the Titans too bad it won’t happen though ). This team will fight for him too. He doesn’t have the mobility but he is probably a little better at finding the open receivers. I’m reluctant to say that he would have less turnovers than Allen though cause he’s had those issues in his career too, but as long as our defense keeps us in it - and they will - there isn’t too much of a difference

he can take all the mental Reps all week. And not face an actual rep until walkthrough and he is fine to play.

and we want him to play. He gives us the best chance to win sunday

I certainly want him to play, that's why I'm being a pain about the protocol stuff lol.

Well he wasn’t exactly escorted to the dressing room.

I was thinking the same. It says the player will be walked to the locker room. Allen ran in there on his own. I’m probably grasping at straws here though LOL.

I think he is gonna be fine. As long as he isn’t experiencing conditions of the concussion by tomorrow he will likely be good to go Sunday. If he is still in stage 1 tomorrow (Bills don’t talk staged though so will be hard to tell) he will be cleared by Sunday.

what worries me is how cautious they were with Morse we might not see Josh until after the bye. Then again Morse has multiple concussions in his history as well.

I do think we need Josh against Tennessee though.

Just watching him go into the tent and then later when he jogged up the tunnel, he looked fully alert and with-it, and he didn't show any signs of motor impairment.  Unfortunately we've all seen players concussed in the NFL before, and they generally look a lot more messed up than Josh did.  So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he's available on Sunday.  I mean, how could my armchair diagnosis based on no medical training be wrong?  ;)

Agreed. He looked alright. But these things are tricky. Hoping for the best. Prepared for the worst.
