Right now it seems like Maycock has had his legs cut from under him. This whole situation is making him look like the GM in name only.

Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if Mayock is having second thoughts right about now about taking the job.

No. You can say any pub is good pub all you want but if brown is released nobody is signing him to a big contract. Nobody. Players notice that stuff. They would think twice about signing Rosenhaus.

Wasn't saying it was good pub. Wasn't saying nobody would sign AB to a big contract if the Raiders cut ties.

I just don't see the tie between the video and Rosenhaus - except that now he has to manage the situation and protect his clients and his own interests. If he manages that his stock could actually rise.

This makes alot of sense and could be  part of the problem with him getting the money. Dude could just be mentally ill on his own too. The illusions of grandeur are there for sure lol

that would be delusions of grandeur, FYI .....

Wow. What an idiot.  I’m not sure about California, but in most states it’s a criminal offense to record a phone call without permission.  I’m guessing Gruden did not give AB permission to record that call.  That could easily be grounds to terminate his contract.

In all honesty it was probably Rosenhaus that told AB to do make/post the video.

It could be, but per the unnamed Raiders source quoted in a tweet up thread, it won't be.  Gruden laughed it off.  "Just play football, Man"

Mayock needs to either leave quietly, or place his manhood in a Blind Trust if he's gonna stay because that article linked above by Kurtenbach had it Damn Straight: this won't be the last of Brown's antics, not by a long chalk:

"But the video won’t be the end of it. Not by a longshot.

You give Brown an inch and he takes a yard, both on the field and off it. Now Gruden has effectively given him multiple passes for two transgressions that would have gotten any other player in the NFL immediately cut.

What’s next? I couldn’t have fathomed Friday night’s video, so whatever is coming is sure to be a doozy.

Oh, and we haven’t even started the season yet. Just wait until actual football is involved. Do you think Brown will hesitate to share his true feelings on quarterback Derek Carr if he’s not getting the ball frequently enough?"

Was it also Rosenhaus that instructed AB to confront Mayock? How about the helmet issue, Rosenhaus?

You may be right, I'm not dying on that hill, just wasn't my first thought. Maybe it's been sitting on the shelf the past few weeks and he/they decided to post it today.

From what I've seen Rosenhaus has been trying to protect his investment and I'm not sure how posting the video this evening helps.

Not saying you're wrong, just had the feeling of something an agent would tell his client to put out there with the timing of everything.

Also AB has seemed pretty damn out of his mind recently to come up with idea of recording his boss on a phone call.

Just my 2 cents.

And people thought Terrell Owens had drama... TO was a saint compared to Brown.

Could be one of two things:

1- It's just the media access of today, vs. 10 years ago.

2- TO really just was trying to get attention, while AB is just straight up insane...

This guy’s act is tedious at this point.

It just goes to show that all that coachspeak about “no distractions” only applies up to a point. Talent wins out in that race if you got enough of it.

Ship this guy to the XFL he belongs there.

Well, apparently AB went to the right team. I’m not sure how many other teams would put up with this, especially from a guy who hasn’t even played s snap for their team yet and just got out of a messy “divorce” with his previous team.

Gruden doesn't seem to care that AB has very quickly made the Oakland Raiders into a drama filled reality TV show.

Brown is off his rocker. Not Incognito off his rocker but he is off his rocker none the less.

I didn't know this but apparently they're teammates now. What the hell is Mayock thinking with Brown, Burfect, and Incognito on the same roster?

Is there some sort of weird curse on this franchise that just makes their coaches/Ms/Owners do insane things one after the other?

Recording phone calls (private convos) is illegal in California, no?

Let alone posting them on social media.

*consults legal team*

Cal. Penal Code § 632

(a) A person who, intentionally and without the consent of all parties to a confidential communication, uses anelectronic amplifying or recording device to eavesdrop upon or record the confidential communication, whether the communication is carried on among the parties in the presence of one another or by means of a telegraph, telephone, or other device, except a radio, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) per violation, or imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year, or in the state prison, or by both that fine and imprisonment.  If the person has previously been convicted of a violation of this section or Section 631 , 632.5 , 632.6 , 632.7 , or 636 , the person shall be punished by a fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000) per violation, by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year, or in the state prison, or by both that fine and imprisonment.

(b) For the purposes of this section, “person” means an individual, business association, partnership, corporation, limited liability company, or other legal entity, and an individual acting or purporting to act for or on behalf of any government or subdivision thereof, whether federal, state, or local, but excludes an individual known by all parties to a confidential communication to be overhearing or recording the communication.

(c) For the purposes of this section, “confidential communication” means any communication carried on in circumstances as may reasonably indicate that any party to the communication desires it to be confined to the parties thereto, but excludes a communication made in a public gathering or in any legislative, judicial, executive, or administrative proceeding open to the public, or in any other circumstance in which the parties to the communication may reasonably expect that the communication may be overheard or recorded.

Question is "Is this illegal in state where he made recording?"

One assumes AB was still in Cali when he recorded it, but you never know with that guy. If he was in Cali, yeah it’s a 2 party state.

Which he is.  He reports to Gruden, which is now obvious.  He’s a scout, that’s it.

Then why was AB angry at Mayock for the fines? If Mayock reports to Gruden then Gruden obviously OKd them, if not actually authored them himself. Why shoot the messenger?

I think Gruden's trying to figure out how Tomlin handled him to make him the most consistent and productive WR over the last eight seasons.  There may be this feeling that once the regular season starts then AB will get down to business and dominate on the football field.  We'll see if that's the case.  I doubt it but we'll see.
