D. Johnson...Please

Recommended Posts

While the front office still thinks McCoy has something left, other savvy front offices are feeling these two out, they should grab one sooner rather than later.  Duke signed a horrible contract (for him) and at 25 has some quality years ahead.  Talk from "media insiders" speculate he could be had for a 4th or 5th round choice.  I've read a couple of articles from Cleveland based outlets all but begging the Browns not to trade him.

Get the deal done.  I'd feel very good about Gore, Johnson and a draft pick.  If McCoy is let go a bunch of his apologists would see how little value he has in the league.

Duke has been a backup his entire career and his contract gives him top 10-15 RB money in terms of cap hit. In what way is that a bad deal for him? He’s probably not worth the money. If Buffalo gets rid of McCoy, I’d be okay with Duke and a rookie but paying for both he and McCoy would be bad.

I liked Duke Johnson when he was at Miami. I think he could be an incredibly productive RB if he were featured. He still has relatively low miles for being a few years in the league already. I would be all for bringing him in via a mid-round pick.

Does Marcus Murphy have no chance on this team? I actually liked what I saw out of him before he was injured. Is he all but gone?

I'd like to know the answer to this, too.  Whenever he spelled McCoy, it was nice to see someone hit the hole hard and fast. ( on the rare occasion that there was a hole to hit )

I am firmly I the camp that outside of a handful of players that RBs are a dime a dozen. Draft someone in the 4-6th round.

Yep, invest in the line and the rest will take care of itself.

He can be had for the next two years at approximately $7.8 million total.  In 2022 you can keep him for 5.9 million if the team chooses.  His total contract is $15.6.  In a small snapshot yes, he's currently in the top 15 category.  He won't be there for long, at the end of FA and extensions he'll be in the 30's.

How much have the Bills put out in RB money the past three years? ---- over $34 million

They're both better than anything we've seen on the field in a number of years in a complimentary RB role.  They'd go great with a rookie RB.

Spending wisely here will allow the team to put more money on the important positions on the OL and DL.

I didn't post what you responded to.  How did that happen?

Duke Johnson is far from trash. Have you ever watched that guy play?

Duke- Quick acceleration thru the hole, can break it to the outside, excellent hands, runs good routes, patient on screens and gets up the field in a hurry. A really good ball player for sure and would love to have him.

For one season in which we won’t be spending to cap?  Overreact much?

Hyde is visiting KC and looks like he may sign there.

Yep, and the board geniuses know more than one of the more successful franchises over the past five years.  Let alone a head coach that can get the most out RBs.

Hyde is average. He was averaging 3 YPC in Cleveland last year. Chubb starts and goes for 5. And Hyde isn't a good receiver either.

He's ok, but nothing special.

Do you think the switch to Baker and his elevated play had anything to do with Chubb getting an honest look from opposing Ds?  We all know how well the Tyrod experiment went.  For the record, I'm looking at a guy like Hyde to get no more then 100-125 carries.  Draft a Rb you think can be a feature back, follow what Cleveland did with Chubb.  I don't want McCoy here.

It helped, but Chubb looked better all year. Dorsey finally traded Hyde so Hue was forced to play Chubb. Hyde then went to Jacksonville and basically not play.

Hyde is a decent player, but he isn't special either.

Duke is one of the most under used and under rated players in the NFL for real.  Been mind blowing how stupid Cleveland was with his career.  Now they have 2 full time studs to carry the rock, so he is expendable.  This guy will be a steal for someone.

You guys remember Priest Holmes in Baltimore BEFORE he went to Cheifs?  Mediocre RB who flourished in a better situation.  I think Duke can have that type of transition.  Not saying he will be as good as Priest was for those Chiefs, but saying I think you will see a major jump in his production too on a team that makes better use of his skill sets.

I am ALL FOR trading for him.  Obviously, it needs to make sense.  I wouldnt be surprised if we could get him for one of our extra 5th round picks or maybe our 6th.  RB's just dont hold high trade value.
