Allen had most time to throw than any QB

Here's an answer why we suck.

Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Buffalo Bills (62 percent owned)

This is the most predictable stat of the season: Among all receivers with at least 20 passing looks, Kelvin Benjamin is dead last (159th-of-159) in yards of separation at the catch point, per Next Gen Stats. Last year, Benjamin was also dead last in yards of separation among receivers (129th-of-129). A black hole for passing production at this point, Benjamin has caught just 7 of his 21 targets -- 10 of which have been "catchable" (per PFF).

According to Next Gen stats, NOBODY in the NFL has had MORE 'TIME TO THROW' than Josh Allen

Is that time in the pocket or total time when he’s running like a headless chicken and heaves up a prayer?

Kind of a meaningless stat then

Yes. A better stat would measure something like “time to release or pocket collapse.” Obviously not all plays would qualify - designed rollouts/bootlegs wouldn’t really count, but I think overall it would paint a better picture.

Hey, where's the guy that always replies to one or these with "link or it doesn't exist"?

I’m surprised they’d even let this stat get out. This is the kind of thing that completely ruins your credibility.

This is garbage data and anyone watching Allen behind that line knows they need to look at what they’re actually collecting.

Next gen, hope not?

I gotta call bull **** on these stats (or at least how they’re computed). Nonsense

If the clock continues while he’s turning, and running for his life.....maybe?

No, there is no discounting how bad this blocking is. Even Josh admits he should be quicker to get the ball out, but we need to build the OLine. And find the best coach money can buy.

Online coach or head coach?

We need a Wade Phillips for the offense. I believe in the FO and McD.

Castillo is a huge question mark. How does he keep his job? By blaming the talent? I think BOTH are in question.

True.......I said before the season KB might get 120-150 targets this season without EVER being open.

But that is also in part because he is basically a TE playing wide against good corners who have nobody else to cover.

And good CB's shut TE's down.    Even great TE's are !@#$ed if they gotta' play opposite a good corner.

The Bills of the 90's always struggled with TE's because they used safeties on them.......and then one day Wade got smart and put tiny Antoine Winfield on the giant Tony Gonzalez and basically erased Tony G.

This gif is a great illustration of why McCoy was actually on the bench for most of the game.

When it comes to blitz pickup he has always been inexplicably bad.

Yeah McCoy has to put up some kind of resistance.

Do you remember when one of the advanced stat services tagged him as the league's worst blitz pickup RB and lowered his grade significantly and he got all pissed about it?

That gif is why he gets called out for his pass blocking effort.

He slows down that rusher and maybe Allen can get out of the pocket and make a play.

Hell Mahomes had nearly 200 yards from out of the pocket tonight..........most by any NFL QB in more than a decade.

Is it me or does this team need to run the ball 60% of the time? I’m talking smash the ball forward for 1-4 yards a time for the games first 3 Qtrs mixing in some play action. Perhaps only until a team is tired can we begin to switch over to the pass & relying on our opponents fatigue which would lead to separation.

How is McCoy supposed to fake getting a handoff and block a free rusher simultaneously? You may be right, but this play is not an illustration of that. That one is on the oline and play call.

Yes, for a mobile QB.

That said, there are plays on film where Allen has guys open and there is a pocket/protection, but he isn't seeing them/pulling the trigger.

I must've missed those plays... chances are, if anybody "gets open", it's well after protection has broken down and Allen is already running for his life.

What the Bills are doing right now is a lesson in how you do not develop a quarterback... this organization is a joke

Yeah because he is running for his life which adds "time" to throw.

That said there are some things Allen needs to work on :

 1. Accuracy under pressure. He throws great in a clean pocket but panics when being rushed and is just chucking the ball out of there.

 2. Stepping up in the pocket. Not doing so lead to some unnecessary sacks and bad throws.

 3. Making better reads and progressions. Self explanatory and should come with time.

Allen was not my first choice but I believe in him and this staff and am counting on Beane to reconstruct this offense next yr.
