What is your unpopular Bills opinion?

Taron Johnson is overrated

Our Offense would be better off if we found a way to trade Diggs

Agreed on ##2 and 4.  Hopeful on #1.  Disagree on #3.

Here's my unpopular opinions: Dawson Knox is wildly overrated, Gabe Davis sucks, and Kaiir Elam could be an important piece of the D next year.

EDIT: one more -

If we can get a 2024 #1 for Diggs, he should be out of here on the next flight.  Deep draft at WR, could even take two in the first round, and affords an excellent change to either trade way up (two 24 #1s plus a 25 #1 gets us pretty far up the board) or reload with some good, young, cheap talent in a year where the cap is an issue.

McD is a decent coach, but his attachment to defense really hurts us. We need to stop wasting first and second round draft picks on defense. Surround Josh with talent. The best way to beat KC is having the ball last and scoring a touchdown. We can draft defensive lineman every year, but it won’t make a difference. The 49ers have Nick Bosa, but he had zero impact when it actually mattered. One Bosa sack on the final OT drive might have won the Super Bowl for SF. The league no longer has players like LT or Ray Lewis on defense. This regime and many fans don’t get it.

It’s not what I want him to do. I want a wide receiver, but he might feel that it’s the prudent thing for him to do because we have so little of them under contract. And he might try to go for one in the second round.

This is what I'm fully expecting.

If you look back at Beane's drafting he often skips over the positions that are considered deeper in talent early. I believe he sees the idea of there being better value if they wait and get a talented guy in round 2 or 3. Wouldn't shock me at all to see him nab someone like T'Vondre Sweat if he's on the board round 1 and go WR in round 2.

That's an easy question.....

Sean McDermott has complete control over free agency and the draft. Beane is more of an administrator than a football man. McDermott is WAY underqualified to be in charge and this is evident by his screwy drafts picks and draft trades.

What McDermott DID excel at was selling Mr. Pegula a bill of goods, telling him about the "process," (Nick Saban was using this term when McDermott was going to his high school prom).

McDermott has a generational talent at QB and responds by not getting him enough weapons and focusing primarily on defense.

He needs to be fired.

Bills fans are hard on McDermott, Davis, Bass, etc., because they live vicariously through the Bills and they hate feeling like the almost-winners or losers they feel like they (not the Bills, they) might be.

My unpopular opinion is James Cook is a good but not great back is better suited for a committee role. The drops, fumbles and lack of ability to pass block render him a not every down player in my book.  RB is a sneaky need this year and no, re-signing Johnson does not move the needle in the RB room.

Terry Pegula has made and will continue to make decisions aimed more at acquiring a new stadium and selling PSLs than on winning a championship.

Here's one - Terry Pegula split up One Sports becasue he is preparing to sell the Bills...

This would be a very good reason for my opinion.

A few:

  • McDermott is better than most you'll get around the league.
  • Josh shouldn't have even tried for the touchdown to Shakir, instead burn the clock.
  • Stefon Diggs is going to play out the next two years here.
  • Depending on circumstance, Von might be worth keeping around for 2025

The buzz in Vegas last week says there’s a very good chance that you get your wish.

They can save $19 million against the cap if they trade him post June 1. Of course, most decent free agents will be gone at that point but I'd still rather let beane have 19 million to play with, plus whatever draft capital we receive in return, than having diggs back on the team.

so what is the word?  is something like a trade to dallas where dallas sends picks/players and eats some of the cap hit we'd take possible?

- Singletary is better than Cook

- Allen also has at least three super bowls if not more with Andy Reid designing plays for him

- Dick Jauron was actually a decent coach when you look at what he was given to work with here

- Tre White was never really all that great and his injury actually helped the team by forcing them to upgrade by trading for Douglas

- Chris Brown is a significant downgrade from John Murphy and makes the radio broadcast almost unlistenable

- Tyler Dunne's article was pretty much spot on and he should be commended for not filtering out things that would make the team uncomfortable

- The Bills defense was not all that banged up against KC. That was just another excuse to deflect from how bad McDermott got out coached by Reid in a big game yet again.

This one is not unpopular but contentious nonetheless. The Bills have a bottom tier head coach. Everyone keeps talking about how he changed things in Buffalo like the team was some bottom feeder when they had a couple of 9 win seasons just before he got here. They lucked into a playoff spot his first year and then hit the lottery on an absolute freakshow of a QB who is the only reason this guy isn't coaching DBs in Carolina right now.

Disagree with everything expect the radio  one which I have no knowledge of. I do think Allen with Andy Reid has probably won a Superbowl though. Wouldn't say three but I reckon he'd have won one.

Douglas as an upgrade on White and Singletary being better than Cook are laughably bad takes.

I'll start with these two guys being some of my favorite players but Poyer and Hyde should both hang it up.  For every good play they made this season, they made two or three bad plays (missed tackles, blown coverage, or just got beat).  They looked slow all year.  Unfortunately, the Bills didn't have better options on the roster but they need to fix that.  Father time has run its course.

Again, I feel what is worth noting that whatever cap space is freed for 2024 via a June 1 cut comes due in 2025.

It's like getting a payday loan to bid on storage units, only the money gets released late and everyone already has had first pick. Maybe you get lucky, but no matter what that loan is due.

This Bills team is this generation's version of the Kelly-era Bills: Good enough to go almost all the way, but never never never good enough to win it all. With yet another version waiting to break our hearts in 25 years.

Always wide right, throughout eternity. 😱

The Bills are going well under .500 for the 2024 season.  Beane is going to clean out the salary cap now, make trades for draft picks for the 2025 draft.  The good news is that Payoff is a 2025 great season with young amazing draft picks and free agents..  The 2026 season will be be historic in the new Stadium with a Super Bowl win..

Unpopular opinion?.....the team is soft.

This team is soft, from the FO, to the HC to the players on down.....soft at every level.

Once they learn some grit, they will hoist that Lombardi. I can promise you that.

When was the last time a soft team won the SB? I can't honestly remember any, to be honest. Each team that has ever won a SB played with determination, played with grit and knew what was on the line each week to get there. Soft teams get chewed up and spat out along the way. They get weeded out, exposed...

Josh will get hurt week 5 with the Bills 4-0 and miss the year. Despite drafting defense heavy and spending $ on D in free agency the Bills will still score 28 points per game with Tyrod Taylor at QB but give up over 30 and go 4-13. McD keeps his job and fires Smiley because special teams cost them .8 yards in field position per game.

There is nothing definitive happening at this time, but my expectations of Diggs being on the team in 2024 went from almost 100% to under 25%.

I’ll be working on some numbers to see how it could feasibly work out.
