MWK
Laughable. Can’t wait to hear the justification for this from the fanboys. 17 million a year for a guy who doesn’t produce? That is a contract for a great DT, not Ed Oliver. Brandon Beane continues to pay and overrate players he drafted. Billsfan4588
Color me confused. I'd understand if it was a discount, but that's top dollar. Edited June 3, 2023 by Billsfan4588 3
HappyDays
I'll add the usual disclaimer that we need to see what the actual contract numbers look like. The initial numbers are always agent driven. I would guess his cap number this year will be reduced. 2 5

Dave_Bills
Don’t know the numbers but this looks like a gamble by Beane. I thought 2023 would be his last year as a Bill. Need more production with that kind of money. 13

mushypeaches
I legitimately did not see this coming. It feels like Beane blinked first knowing that he didn't have any DT's under contract for next year. Seems out of character 3 1
RunTheBall
Just for the record, I was wrong on Edmunds, and I was wrong on Oliver. So for future reference just take the opposite of what I say and you'll know what's going to happen. 3

He did not “blink”, and he is not desperate because we don’t have DT’s under contract for next year. Agree or not, they think he’s a pretty darn good football player when healthy. 5
MiltonWaddams
This came out of nowhere. I was in the camp that saw him vacating the premises after next season, and possibly even earlier.

MikePJ76
Good teams who want to stay good, Draft, Develop and then sign their own players. This is the goal of every organization. I imagine this will help get cap space for this season because 1.4 m is not going to work. 1

I will wait and see how this defense looks when healthy and everyone is playing. I imagine he can have a very good season if the secondary stays healthy and miller is back by october and playing at his normal level. Exactly....GM's tend to have blinders when it is guys they drafted. I was looking forward to seeing him play in a contract year. He did not get what the other DT's in his class drafted after him are getting and that is certainly justified but I hope this is not just paying a lot of money to an ok player.

This place isn't happy unless they have at least 1 player every year that they can spew hyperbole about how terrible they are and verbally chase them out of town with pitchforks. Like I said all offseason, him being extended was the most likely outcome. He was NEVER going to be traded.
