The more important stats are hard(er) to find - how many punts into the EZ vs pinned inside the 20 or inside the 10? He's capable of the occasional 68, 69 yarder. The occasional boomer is important but actually, directional punting and the ability to pin the opponent deep matter too - as does avoiding blocks and shanks. He was a dual-purpose kicker in Detroit - kicked off as well as punted, so he may offer some positional flexibility which the Bills always love. Yeah but how many shank kicks has he had. Thats honestly the one thing I cant stand about punts. Last two guys seemed to have those at the worst times.

If he had 1 million guranteed then he will still get a pay check from Denver. And if thats the case we only have to make up the difference and pay 1.35 million. This article says none of his salary was guaranteed this year Quote He signed a three-year, $7.05 million contract with the Broncos in 2020 and had a base salary this year of $2.25 million, but none of that was guaranteed, so that’s what the Broncos will save on their salary cap by cutting him. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/08/29/broncos-cut-punter-sam-martin-after-he-refuses-pay-cut/

And, it has been confirmed that they DID NOT let him leave the buiding! Martin signed, as per the tweet three posts upthread. This is a great result. Martin > Haack. Martin > rookie Arazia. Martin may not be better than Arazia's potential, but that's water under the bridge. Edited August 31, 2022 by msw2112
