Bangarang
Watson and the Haslems appear so arrogant as if it’s an inconvenience for them to have to talk about this. I’m getting a strong “boys will be boys. Now let’s go play some football and forget about this nonsense” vibe from Jimmy Haslem 2

I generally think most NFL owners are all pretty dumb and brain dead/tonedeaf. But the Haslams, Ross, & Snyder reallyyy are another level of just putrid people. Haslam it isn't just this there has been a lot of pretty bad crap they've done prior.

Logic
I really wish the owners and the GM would just be honest. Just come out and tell us "look...the guy is disgusting. He's a sexual deviant. The fact is, winning football games and making money are more important to us than anything else. We're willing to deal with the bad PR and with employing a perpetrator of serial sexual assault because, at the end of the day, he helps us win more football games and increases our bottom line, and that's all that really matters to us". That's the truth. That's what's really going on here. At least if they were honest, I could have a teeny tiny sliver of respect for them for being transparent and saying what everyone knows to be true. Instead, we can add "insulting our intelligence" to the list of offenses. Edited August 18, 2022 by Logic

Logically, they can't call Watson a sexual deviant or a perpetrator of serial sexual assault while those things are still being adjudicated in a court of law, right? That would be slander or libel. I guess they could call him an alleged sexual deviant or an alleged perpetrator of serial sexual assault though.

I never root for an injury, but in this case I’d make an exception. I was actually kind of hoping he’d play @Buffalo. I think our defense would absolutely tee off against him. Plus the home crowd would have been even more raucous than usual for that one. 1

Alphadawg7
It would be an utter disaster for the NFL if the Browns manage to win enough games while he is out to where the sneak in the playoffs and go on a run in the playoffs and win the SB. And regardless of what we think of Watson as a person, he was a top 5 QB before the scandals. Browns still have a loaded roster, this isn’t as far fetched as people might think, especially if he’s playing with a chip on his shoulder. I mean, it would be worst case scenario for the NFL, so I’m stunned they agreed to just 11 games allowing this to even be a possibility. If the Browns are near .500 they can easily make the playoffs still, and with a roster that talented they can still win 5 to 6 games in those 11 games he’s out. Then there are all 3 to 4 games down the stretch they should win and a few tough games. It wouldn’t be that hard for these guys to go 9-8 or 10-7 and sneak into the playoffs. This is way too little for what he did, should have been a full season.

Which is why I am shocked the NFL agreed to just 11 games, because it would be an utter disaster for them if they did sneak into that last playoff spot per se then get hot in the playoffs with that very good roster. I mean the OL alone is worlds better than Watson is used to, so this team could be very dangerous in the playoffs if Watson is rounding into his old form by then. Big risk for the NFL here IMHO, and a stupid one. They really botched this whole situation from the get go.
