Ed_Formerly_of_Roch
In fairness, over the past roughly 35 years, the AFC East has had three pretty dominant teams, all three not named the NY Jets. When competing against those teams does make it tougher to come out on top. From about 86 to 2000 you had two teams to beat out, then since 2000 had one extremely dominant team that would just beat everyone in the division, leaving them far behind. When you look likely could say that about one team in almost every division, Cleveland and Cincy haven't won much in the north, Chargers out west, and Jax in the south. South was often a case to where someone had to win it, but no one was every real strong for an extended period.. Actually just read going all the way back to 1960 when the AFL was formed, the AFC East has won 26 AFC/AFL conference titles, 11 NE, 6 Buffalo, and 5 Miami, Jets 1, and two teams no longer in the East Titans 2, Colts 1. Interesting also that the Pats, Bills and Fish have one 48 out of roughly 62 AFC East titles. So overall three very dominant teams conference wide in the East. GreggTX
Another fun fact: The Jets have won a SB. In fact, they were the first AFL team to do it when everyone said it was impossible. We have won 0 SB's. This is not a legitimate basis for criticism. 1 2 2 2

They were pretty instrumental in the survival of the AFL. First owner didn’t have any money, seems like the only guys in the “Foolish Club” that actually had money were Hunt, Adams and Wilson. Sonny Werblin saved the franchise. Drafting and signing Joe Namath was a big deal and a big f$$k you to the arrogant pricks of the NFL. And winning Super Bowl III was huge. They have had bad ownership ever since, remember what that’s like? As much as I respect Ralph Wilson and what he did for the AFL and the NFL, he was a meddling owner. We are lucky to have the Pegulas.

The Red King
Things can be exclusive. Yes, it's kinda sad that the only team to go to four straight Super Bowls didn't win one. This thread is about the Jets winning the AFC East only twice. You wanna say something low, like 8 or 10, and I'd be surprised and say "Huh? Wow.", but two? I'm not bagging on the Jets, I'm just...stunned. Now I'm curious if any other team has won their division less in that span.
The Red King
Or, let's put it another way. From 1960 to 2021, the Jets won the East four times (1968, 1969, 1998 and 2002). From 1960 to 1980 the Bills won the East four times (1964, 1965, 1966 and 1980). The Jets front-office just can't seem to build a dominant team, even over the span of decades. Yes, things ebb and flow, teams rise and fall. Miami was dominant, Buffalo became a powerhouse, NE established their dynasty, Buffalo appears to be staking claim on the division now...but the Jets can't seem to reach the top. Is it the ownership? Yes am aware of all that about Jets and Titans. What screwed me up was thinking Tenn Titans were originally the Houston Oilers and they were in the AFL East division. Thought they won the east in 1967. Recall the Jets starting the year off hot, like 5-0, then fell apart and Oilers won the east. Actually just checked, they did win the east lost to the Raiders in championship game who then went on to lose to the Packers in SB II 2 hours ago, TBBills said: Someone doesn't know how to play the thread game. ProcessTruster
Jets are improving, so be careful how cavalier you are dunking on them. If Zach Wilson turns out to be decent, they could be a problem along with Pats and Phins. Bills fans getting their heads out in front of their headlights again. No surprise there. After 20 years of crap, some gloating certainly justified. Everything is looking good; Let's just go play the games and see if the Bills gold plated roster stays healthy and on the field long enough to win something. Winning the offseason is for losers. Go Bills
