Perhaps Bucky Brooks as a close second. My least respected will always be Mike Mayock. That guy to me was all soundbite and no substance. And I thought that before he was a total failure as a GM. Since that team didn't follow him to the Raiders, he was more or less exposed for the sports broadcaster he is. The Raiders had a very tumultuous season with Ruggs and Gruden….still made the playoffs. I prefer people that actually did it for a living as a scout or front office. Daniel Jeremiah is tops for me. I'm honestly surprised he's still relevant. I actually used to really like Mayock. He wasn't afraid to have his own takes, right or wrong. His insistence that Khalil Mack would be better than Clowney got him mocked, but he stuck with it. He's been a terrible GM, aside from the money, I bet he wishes he'd stuck with his old job. I think his failure as GM (both in picks and job security) had far more to do with Gruden than it did with him. Behind Mayock, Daniel Jeremiah and Buck Brooks are great too (although Bucky’s voice drives me crazy. Sounds like he always needs a lozenge). I like Curtis Conway on Path to the Draft too (not sure if he’s still doing it though). Also, Gil Brandt was/is no slouch. Kiper is a classic and in many ways made the draft the commercial success that it is. There are so many subtleties that become involved in reality that talking heads don’t have to deal with. Coaching and systems being the most obvious. Personal motivation being another. As he is a former NFL personnel guy so he knows what guys are looking for. My least favorite is Todd McShay as I just don't feel he brings anything to the table except an opposing view to Mel Kiper. I always enjoyed Mike Mayock's commentary. I feel like he’s got some ulterior motives behind his analysis and really likes to hype certain guys. He was absolutely raving about Skyy Moore at the combine, whenever Moore was doing a drill he would just interrupt whoever was talking and praise Moore’s reps. DJ then tweeted about Moore’s 40 time but did not tweet about anyone else. Then in the QB drills, nobody mentioned anything about a wide receiver except DJ made a point to specifically praise Moore even though it was a QB drill. His mock drafts are super accurate year after year. He’s been doing it a long time and I think at this point he has quite a few sources he can pull from. Way back in the day I used to frequent Scott Wright’s Draft Countdown website. Last I checked it looked like the site had been sold so I don’t know if Wright is still doing it or not but he was another guy was very accurate mocks and solid scouting reports. I like Daniel Jeremiah, he gives a great perspective having had a career as a scout and front office guy for several years. Bucky ain’t bad either. Joe Marino over at the Draft Network does a good job. There quite a few that seem to write for that site. I think it was originated by Kyle Crabbs and for whatever reason I can’t stand that dude. I think it’s the way he writes. He tries to make everything sound intellectual and it usually just comes off pretentious. Tony Pauline over at DraftInsider.net is another good one. He’s plugged in with some sources and his stuff is pretty good. Kiper is alright. I never liked Mayock very much. I remember the one year the guy yelled his comments for so frickin’ long that he lost his voice. He was super hoarse and hard to understand, you’d think they would’ve improvised and swapped him out with someone else but no sir, there he was froggin’ it up for all three nights of the draft. Couldn’t believe it when the Raiders hired him as a GM. He sucked. That’s about all I can recall for draft analysts that I follow/read. Usually watch it on NFL Network but I do like to scroll Twitter at the same time to get the scoop on trades and see the picks being tipped before they’re announced and all that. I remember when that first became a thing and people went batsh*t on LaCanfora for tipping picks and he got all fussy about it. As for the draft this year, I’d assume they’re going CB in the first unless a different player they really like falls to them at 25. I can also see Beane trading up a few spots depending on how the board falls. Wouldn’t mind WR in round one either, pretty solid group this season. I wonder if that George Pickens out of Georgia can get back on track with the breakout season he had a couple years ago. Out of all the receivers I’ve watched, that dude stood out. I struggle to come up with a good player comparison for him. He's way ahead of Chiefs first-round pick Patrick Mahomes from a development standpoint and I think he has a much higher upside. Where McShay and Kiper as well talk about value in the draft. I understand the concept they are talking about but I think they play it up too much. No one cares if you get a great talent in round 1, 2, or 3. Just get the talent. Maybe DJ does that too and I mostly read his stuff as opposed to watching him.
