LeGOATski
Guys like Barry Sanders and Larry Fitzgerald are good for the league. I don’t think taunting should be enforced like this, but it is what it is, take a step away from the guy and do your thing. I also think jagoffs that start threads and end it with “discuss” and never return to their thread should be banned for a year. But hey? BillsShredder83
I personally think taunting looks bad for the game, but there's a line. Josh spiking the ball at the Chargers feet last year, although I loved it, penalty. Levi Wallace giving a Rick Flair Wooooooo, and a flex is weak af penalty. How about refs learn to call a Jerry Hughes holding, or to learn what the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 a catch is, before we move onto trivial things. Football is a primal highly emotional game. Hockey allows fist fights, and the NFL is flagging things that belong in the game. Goodell has continually weakened my fav product ughhhhh

ToBillsFan
Not sure if anyone has played sports growing up but when you’re playing a competitive game the juices are flowing. I can’t even imagine a high impact game like football and having to hold in your emotions. We don’t hear half the things these players say to each other before and during the game so when a big play gets made I’m all for letting it be known that you owned that player. It build momentum for yourself and your team. I think as long as you don’t physically touch the other player or waste a lot of time then let it go because these players have been held back so much on what they can do, it’s starting to change the game.

I don’t think the flag was thrown for that because it happened quick. He was flagged for being on top of him, flexing, then yelling at him while he was still on top of him. I hated the call, but it wasn’t undeserved either. That one is on Wallace not the refs I don't think taunting is that big of a deal, personally. If they want to throw flags for that stuff, whatever, but what concerns me is Wallace KNOWS that the refs are emphasizing it. He should be going out of his way to ensure that he isn't doing anything even close to taunting. He needs to be smarter and more disciplined than that, not because taunting is so horrible, but because the rules and the emphasis are so clear and it's so easy to avoid those flags. 1

reddogblitz
I think its because they don't want after every play for the tackler or interceptor or whatever to jump up and down and get in the guys face and taunt them. SlimShady'sSpaceForce
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/nfl-twitter-taunting-penalties-titans-seahawks-002508298.html NFL Twitter is in agreement: The league's new taunting penalties are awful On Sunday, we watched a player penalized for spinning a football. And flashing the incomplete sign. And clapping. Los Angeles Chargers tight end Jared Cook got called for one over a run-of-the-mill touchdown celebration, but had that called back due to an illegal shift penalty. The worst moment, though, came during the game between the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks. With the Titans down 30-23 and driving to tie the game, Ryan Tannehill went for a deep pass to A.J. Brown that landed incomplete. Seahawks cornerback D.J. Reed, who was covering Brown, got up, flexed while looking at Brown and walked away (video above). Then he received a 15-yard penalty for taunting, moving the Titans into Seahawks territory. —————— Sound familiar?

BADOLBILZ
Aside from perhaps actually winning SB's.......nothing creates stronger fan bonds to a team than the idea that bad officiating or the league office are out to get "us". The league doesn't intentionally set up officials to make bad calls...........but they naturally have a financial disincentive to ever perfect officiating..........a certain amount of 3rd party human error and the subsequent outrage is quite beneficial to the bottom line. No bias necessary. So rather than ask why any rule is a rule in a game with so many..........maybe ask why your team can't follow the rule or doesn't know how to put the other team in position to violate said rule?
