I'm fine with whoever they want to have on the practice squad. The practice squad has such a small impact on the team that I don't think it matters a ton. Obviously, it helps a little, but one spot on the practice squad does not impact wins or losses in the slightest.

The Bills have 6 former PS players this year on the 53 roster.

Wallace, Obada, Kumerow, Zimmer, Jackson and Smith.

As a development/emergency squad I think it has a good purpose.

Fromm is a lottery ticket which might be valuable if 1st, 2nd and 3rd person on list do not answer phone.

Webb plays multiple positions on PS and does things like film breakdown and reviews as well as being backup QB.

Fromm is a lottery ticket insomuch as IF you win, you win $2.00

They could use Hyde in a pinch.

Yeah but I don't love it. And we'd still need to sign someone if it was longer than a week or two.

Imagine week 1 McKenzie takes a big hit on a punt return and reinjures his shoulder. Pretty realistic. Stevenson is on IR. In goes Hyde.

EDIT: Isaiah's shoulder is clearly still bothering him, but it's good he's practicing:

I would just tell Hyde to fair catch everything he doesn't let go.

Yep. Breida can return KO if he is active, as he has done a little in the pros and a little in college. Not much but he has done it, has the speed, etc.

I keep forgetting about him. He'd be electric back there. Love me some Breida.

It was a little surprising to me that he had never returned punts in NFL or college. There aren't that many RBs who do, but he is the kind of guy whose skills seem to fit the calling. He has good hands, too.

I mean two returners and Micah Hyde in emergency is how we rolled last season, only thing that's changed is one of the names.

Doing the rough math in my head… we’ve kept 71/90 guys we had with us in the off-season between the active roster, IR and practice squad.

McBeane loves consistency… I personally value consistency from a personnel standpoint.

I’m pretty excited about the above.

Teams are allowed to begin signing players to practice squad contracts at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Sept. 1. That coincides with the passing of the 24-hour waiver period after the NFL's final roster cuts. NFL teams had to trim their 80-man rosters down to 53 by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

NFL teams are allowed to carry up to six veterans on the practice squad. That means there will be plenty of recognizable names on each unit, especially some experienced quarterbacks.

Practice squad players are paid $9200 per week in 2021

The link below shows every teams signed PS players

Beane just said on WGR they will have the 16th from outside Buffalo and he will be in tomorrow

Very strange that they haven't signed any players from another team, at least to the PS.

I heard Beane say that also - wondering who they have coming in.  Sounded like a tour and signing - so I thought it was someone totally new.

@Reks Ryan - why is it strange they haven’t signed someone from another team.  We have a deep and talented roster with lots of guys they like.  It should be no surprise that they wanted to keep as many of their own guys as possible.

The surprise to me was that we only had 1 guy claimed and some lesser teams had multiple guys picked up.  It shows me the Bills really have a pretty good handle on this.

Nobody new on the PS. All guys we cut. 1 spot left. I am looking for a vet OT.

Brandon Beane said at 5:00 on the radio - the last spot is filled - they were flying the guy in to tour and to sign.

Not sure who or what position - BB would not say.

Trufant??

Could be.  It ruled out Hollister for me and Becker.

I thought maybe Marlowe, but he wouldn’t need a tour.

Trufant sounded like he was dealing with some family issues, but if that is cleared up then I am all for it.

I was trying to see if there was some younger OLine prospects, but didn’t see anything earth shattering.

Can’t wait to find out.

I think the “loyalty” we show towards developing players from the PS, and allowing them a shot to earning a spot on a very talented team, earns loyalty back. Players are more likely to stick around and come back to our PS, when they feel they are given a chance to make the roster.

It is likely that Dean Marlowe is doing the "cut and signed again after players put on IR again" thing again for 2nd year in a row.

Maybe, but he made the original 53 and was cut after the Lions claimed 2 players.  So the timing really doesn’t add up.

For example Ferguson was cut yesterday so Stevenson could make he 53 and then when Stevenson moved to IR Reid came back.

Marlowe was on the Lions ester day when they would of IR’d players and was cut today with their Waiver pick-ups that hav to go on the active roster.

Doesn’t mean he won’t be back, but I don’t think it was the cut and IR piece.

I'm going to guess at least some of them are going to be players that weren't on the team.

Hadn't thought of that till I read your post, but yeah, this year's PS is very unusual in that all 15 so far were in Bills camp.

Beane says the 16th will be from outside, but that's still reasonably unusual, only one from outside. They really did think they had a good group in camp this year.
