Rubes
Our defense was clearly weakened by the losses of Edmunds and Milano. Those two are essential and we don't have backups that can do what they do. We had no answer to Fitz (Fitz!) and the Dolphins attack, although at least part of that was probably due to heat and exhaustion. Nevertheless, we need those two back badly. Not this week, though. I don't expect to see either of them on the field against the Rams. It's possible Edmunds dresses, but I don't expect to see him play unless needed. Why? - Non-conference game, doesn't mean much (despite old prior threads) - Still in first place even if we lose - Still undefeated in the division and conference even if we lose - Brutal stretch of 5 consecutive AFC games coming up after (Raiders, Titans, Chiefs, Jets, Patriots) - Need them as healthy as possible for those five games, the AFC is at stake Unless they're both near 100%, give them time to rest and heal up. We're gonna need them much more in a couple of weeks. 6

TheBrownBear
You need to stack wins in any way, shape or form. If they're healthy enough to play, they'll play. 30 1

Awesome take, thanks. I know one has a shoulder injury that can impact tackling, and the other has a hamstring injury which tends to linger if it doesn't heal fully. So yeah, you do you.
BuffaloBillies
Win all your home games, take at least 2 on the road. 10+ wins. I'd take Edmunds at 75%. Depending on the injury... sometimes you just have to gut it out. Especially on your home field.

GunnerBill
I'd be surprised if Milano plays this week. He wasn't even out there when they practiced at all last week. Edmunds did have a couple of days doing individuals and then they decided it wasn't right and sat him down again at the end of the week. I'd expect the same pattern, ie. Edmunds in a red non-contact jersey doing positional drills only Wednesday and Thursday and then a decision Friday either to incorporate him in team drills - which would trend towards him playing; or to sit him down which would trend towards him missing out again.

While mathematically (for division and conference standings and playoff tie-breakers), a game vs. an NFC opponent doesn't carry as much weight as an AFC game or a divisional game, with only 16 games, every game counts. If one or both of them are healthy enough to play, they will likely play. Edited September 22, 2020 by msw2112
MJS
I think that's dumb. Every game is absolutely crucial. They'll play if they are healthy, if not they won't. Simple as that. My guess is Edmunds will play and Milano won't. They don't like to rush guys back from hamstring injuries.

Yeah, basically all opinions outside the organization on any issue are useless. So, hot take. Just giving you my opinion, not what I'd do if I was the coach. I know these guys play whenever they possibly can, and nobody is 100% once the season starts. But if there is any question about their health I'd say the prudent thing would be to hold them out this week, even though we'd all like to see them play. Agreed. This is McDermott's style. Remember last year in the ensuing week after Josh was knocked out against the Pats? Some of us thought they would hold him out a week. Others thought he would play as soon as he cleared protocol. He cleared and he played. If Edmunds and Milano can get in some practice work, and McDermott likes what he sees, then you can bet your **s they will be on the field this Sunday.

YoloinOhio
The only thing that will matter is their health imo. billsfan89
I do generally agree that the Bills should be more cautious in brining back Edumonds and Milano due to it being a non-conference game. However I am not so sure that these injuries are that serious. Considering the 3 week IR minimum, why not just IR Edumonds and Milano if the injury is a 3 week recovery? I think there is a 50/50 chance that each of them play.

DrDawkinstein
Again, we are forgetting that we have an Offense (or at least seem to). Week 1 we ran Josh. Week 2, big change, we slung it deep. Week 3... Another big change. Establish the run with our RBs. Let our badass OL get to mauling. Control that clock and limit Rams possessions. Put the onus on the Offense again and let our LBs heal completely. ???

Matt_In_NH
If Edmunds can go without risk of further injury then he plays like any other player. Same is true for Milano but the bills are super conservative with hamstrings. I don’t think the opponent has much influence either way. It is true non conference games mean the least for tie breakers but winning any game is always important. You might need this game to just be in a tie breaker. It definitely does but not as much as in the past. The division is in play and divisional tie breakers hit common opponents rather than AFC/NFC,. The Pats will also play the Rams so a win helps us in a divisional tie breaker. It would hurt in a wild card tiebreaker but there is an extra wild card team this year. It is very early in the season but my guess is W/L is a break even scenario in a tie breaker or that a win might even be better.

Lv-Bills
Wins are needed. If they can play, they need to play. A.J. Klein is god awful. He basically just dances around in small circles every play. This is clearly one of the only areas that we couldn't afford this to happen to. We'll get through it, but man, there has to be better options out there than Klein. Edited September 22, 2020 by Lv-Bills
