Haha, yikes, I didn't realize that.Ā

Ā

I guess I just assumed we took a big leg if we were drafting a kicker.Ā

Ā

He has a monster leg. Not sure whyvhe hasnt hit one over 50 but i didnt watch that team at all. But he hit a 63 yarder at his pro day. And was hitting them from 55 at senior bowl.

but not this guy.Ā  Check out the NFL writeup.Ā  Has trouble kicking from over 50 yards, even more concerning, trouble in "inclement weather."Ā Ā

Ā

He will not beat Houshaka.Ā  He is only a kickoff specialist.

Ā

Awful pick with Mann (P) still on board, as well as CB, DBs, and other kickers.Ā

Another guy to read about? You don't learn about players by reading about them. You watch them.

When was the last time we only drafted one defensive player in a draft?

Ā

I know we have 2 more picks, but one of those 2 I believe will be OL.

Ā

McDermott and Beane clearly love our D as it is.

They signed a bunch of defensive free agents, thatā€™s where they saw the value this offseason.

I donā€™t like drafting a kicker. Check out success rate on rookie kickers and itā€™s a real crapshoot. Kicking is 90% mental and I would rather have a proven vet. Hope the rookie though works out.Ā

at what Position is the sixth round pick not a crapshoot?Ā

nope, it's an awful pick.Ā  You shouldn't waste picks.Ā  If a guy has issues in inclement weather, and isn't good over 50, what's the point.Ā  Ā He won't beat out House Money, so why pick him?Ā  Get Mann, who can flip the field.Ā  Or a backup/ST starting LB, OL, etc.Ā  Ā This does not strike me as a "high ceiling" pick.Ā Ā

Youā€™re not theĀ gm though right? They obviously have some familiarity with this kid and feel comfortable bringing him in. What qualifies you over Beane to say he canā€™t win the job? Cause you read an article?Ā
How about the senior bowl? Read about that?Ā

I'm very happy we drafted a kicker, but I think the point should have been to get someone with a big leg. This guy has a long of 50 yards and is less than 80% on all field goals. I don't get it.

He has a much bigger leg than that stat. Go watch the videos from the Senior Bowl.Ā

I should re-phrase. Itā€™s not the draft pick I am worried about, itā€™s just going into the season with a rookie kicker. thereā€™s going to be a lot of risk with that if we end up keeping Bass over Haush. Is he going to mentally hold up?

Right after the long snapper, itā€™s coming!Ā

Ā

Odd draft, this one.Ā

Ā

A long of 50 yards does not make me swoon in our winds.Ā

How about my winds ?Ā

Wow, itā€™s almost like the Bills are drafting based on research beyondĀ the NFL write up.

Camp leg. If he beats out the incumbent so be it. If not, maybe expanded practice squad for some development.Ā

Teams donā€™t usually spend draft capital on a kicker just Ā expecting him toĀ be a camp leg. Iā€™d say at this point, itā€™s his job to lose to Hauschka.Ā

I like it. Iā€™d like a punter too. If the Bills are going to play close games they need to tighten up the special teams play. Bass is good and could take the job.

Hopefully, with our new weapons and Joshā€™ improvement, most games wonā€™t be close. But....letā€™s prepare for itĀ just in case! ?Ā

Surely there is no more indication of a struggle with a kicker than drafting the 1st kicker off the board in the 6th round?Ā

I don't understand the question.
