Inclined to think "Over"
Need to consider what Beane can add thru the Draft and FA.
Also need to consider what we could lose: DT's Lotulelei & Phillips, DE's Lorax & Shaq (is Trent's contract up?), DB Johnson, Gore . . . defense could be weaker.

I can see why the books say 8.5 with the tougher schedule and the possibility the defense gets weaker.  The wild card is Beane and what he can do to add to the roster and what the 1st & 2nd year players do to add to the team in their 2nd & 3rd years respectively.

Agreed; howeva...we have the $$$ to basically keep whoever we feel we really need to keep plus add good players in FA—that’s the reward paying off for the cap lumps we took in 2018, and makes me figure at a minimum we hold serve with the overall quality of our D, and likely keep improving on O.

so little respect

8.5 is probably our highest in years and our schedule is much harder.  We also didn’t really beat any good teams last year so there probably are some questions about us nationwide.

but put money on it then and you can laugh at it when you win.

This thread is WAY premature.   Re-post it after FA and the draft, when we'll know more about the make-up of the 2020 roster....

Yeah but if you think it is low, it would be a great time to bet it because if they have a great free agency and draft, it could go up.

Every once in a while, Dave and Busters is a damn good time.

I’ve been all of once, and had a GREAT time!

Back visiting a buddy with our kids in tow for a Bills weekend. His son was more into music, my son was an AAU hoops fanatic. His son was BEAMING as they came back to our table (covered in beer and wings) as he carried multiple stuffed animals. Apparently my son got hot from the “FT line”, but wasn’t into stuffed animals. He DID love the happy reaction from his new friend. These are the little things in life that can matter the most.  Our “Rosebud” moment, if you will.

This sounds about right. Our team and conservative coaching is built for close games. It’s not sustainable for winning consistently.

This year was the year, the conservative mentality killed momentum and hope.

Are you kidding?  I figured we were set up to succeed NEXT year, and the possibility of making the playoffs this year was a happy accident.  9 new starters on offense and a rookie taking over for Kyle at DT this year, vs having had a year together with 2nd year players at the holes we filled for next year.  Knox and Singletary are going to carry us out of those close games you spoke of.

LMAO

Yeah I hear yeah but that’s why I say as of today because as of today buffalo really can’t beat starting quarterbacks in the NFL I mean teams real quarterbacks they just can’t beat them

I mean they can beat the Dwayne Haskins and Ryan Fitz Patrick’s and the duck Hodges and Brandon Allen’s of the world

but Lamar Jackson Deshaun Watson Tom Brady Baker Mayfield Carson Wentz they lost to everyone Oh they did beat dak Prescott And Sam Darnold when he had mono

in a 2020 it’s Patrick Mahomes Ben Roethlisberger Russell Wilson possibly Tom Brady twice again Jimmy G Kyler Murray Jared Goff

But I guess that’s the real quest for the bills next season to see if they can elevate from beating the back ups to beating the starters

Opponents for reference

Odds makers might just have it right this year.

The Patriots will make acquisitions on offense for Brady to make him happy. Any top WR or TE free agent Like WRs Amari Cooper, AJ Green, TEs Austin Hooper, Hunter Henry.

The NY Jets should be improved with continuity from the same coaches, draft, free agency.

The Dolphins should be improved with three first round picks and perhaps QB Phillip Rivers? He did move from S Cal to Fla...They might also be drafting a rookie QB.

I don't see any cakewalks this season as each and every team will be looking at Buffalo as a playoff team to beat. The Bills barely beat some bad teams last year they only scored more then 20 points in six out of ten games. That won't fly this season as they face more quality opponents. No more Duck Hodges, Brandon Allen, Dwayne Haskins, Marcus Mariota at QB.

Its also not just about QB Josh Allen improving at passing either. With a power run game and that number three overall defense the 2019 Buffalo Bills should have destroyed the bad teams with scrubs QB's. Oh yea, what power run game? Motor was vastly underutilized for whatever reason. With QB Josh Allen's 510 yards rushing, 9 TDs the Bills should have been a whole lot better than 18th in rushing TD's.

Think about that, Josh Allen had 9 rushing TD's...Gore had 2, Singletary had 2, THAT's IT, WTH!  So basically 4 rushing TD's from both the Buffalo RB's all season long...Yeldon hardly saw the field and DiMarco had only 3 rush attempts all season as did Sinorise Perry.

To put that in context GB RB Aaron Jones had 16 rushing TD's and a big reason as to why Green Bay did so much better in 2019 on offense. Tenn RB Derrick Henry had 16 rushing TD's. Carolina RB Christian McCaffray 15, Minn RB Dalvin Cook had 13. Todd Gurley who was injured had 12 rushing TD's. Elliot had 12, Ingram had 10.

So, don't tell me that Brian Daboll's offense didn't put carrying the game on Josh Allen shoulders far more than he should have. That jackass of an OC should be building an offense to support Allen and not making "him" the offense!

P.S. 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo, a six year vet playing under one of the brightest offensive minds in the league in Niners HC Kyle Shanahan. Jimmy studied that offense with Mike Shanahan all off season. Jimmy G threw for 3978 yards 27 TD's, 13 INTs with a 67% completion percentage in 2019. Even He looked like crap with the game placed all on his shoulders when the 49ers had the lead in the second half of that super bowl. Texans playoff game come to mind? Just sayin!

Heart Says Take the over.

With the way the Roster is Currently constructed, Head says Leave it alone right now.

Looked at way Currently Constructed, so until I see what they do UFA I wont make a bet on this yet

in theory this should be the best roster Allen ever plays with in his career unless they get horribly conservative. This is the year you must make the splash moves.

What we thinking ?

We taking the over for big dollars.

edit: to elaborate, i don’t believe in season-to-season strength of schedule. I know it looks tough now based on last season, but it really means nothing year over year. The bills are likely to regress a bit on defense a bit but also improve (maybe a lot) on offense, depending on what they do. 8.5? Im sprinting to the casino taking the over.

Five games for which we don't even know who the opposing QB is going to be yet.

Add the uncertainty surrounding New England, Tennessee and the Raiders' QB situations - and, to me, it's pretty silly to say this schedule is either easy OR difficult.

We don't know yet.

Yep. They have two really cheap years of Allen left (2020 and 2021) and then the 5th year option year which will still be below market value. Now is time to start pushing your chips into the middle of the table. They can't keep saving for a rainy day.

At this point, with no FA moves and no draft picks in, 8.5 wins seems about right to me.  I'm pulling for the over of course, but our schedule isn't going to be as soft next year and we could easily finish the season with a better roster but worse record.  Last year's line of 6.5 was ludicrously low and it was pretty easy to predict that we were going to cover it with room to spare.  Not so sure about this one.

Pretty respectful prediction for a change.  I'm used to having them put us in the 5 to 6 win range.  Not quite the easy money it was last year, especially given the schedule, but I will still take the over.  As long as we add a player or 2 that can make this Offense a bit more productive, I see 9-10 wins.

Drew Lock looks pretty secure as the Broncos starter, no?

If we're to be honest...

- This last season was as easy a schedule as I can remember.

- Next season, at least as it stands now, is a much tougher schedule.

- Regardless of whether Brady* leaves the Pats*, or not, the AFCE will be a much more competitive division.

I said going in to this last season that the Bills could be a 10-6 team, or they could be a 6-10 team, and I saw it going one way, or the other. I see it that way going into nest season, as well. We're either going to stumble, and lose momentum, or we're going to really start to dominate. If I had to bet on it, I'd go with the latter. )I'm a homer, after all.) But, the former wouldn't surprise me.
