In the SI power ranking Buffalo is ranked 12 - which is debatable but reasonable
https://www.si.com/nfl/2019/11/19/nfl-power-rankings-poll-week-12-ravens-patriots-49ers

The interesting part is

12. BUFFALO BILLS (7-3)

Previous rank: 14
Points in poll: 170
Highest-place vote: 1 (1 voter)
Lowest-place vote: 15 (2 voters)
Last week’s result: Beat Miami, 37-20
This week: vs. Denver

one of the SI writers put the bills as number 1 on the power ranking.
As much as I love the bills and I think they can be ranked higher I'm also realistic and know they are not yet #1.

From the Athletic:

13. Buffalo Bills (7-3; Last week: 14)

Now that’s what a Bills team that fancies itself a playoff contender should look like against the Dolphins, riding Josh Allen’s best overall day of the season to a 37-20 win. But don’t take our word for it, let’s just make sure we read what offensive tackle Cody Ford said about Allen, because while I’m not sure I’m on board with all Ford’s gun metaphors, Ford clearly is passionate about his quarterback. “Josh is a dog. There’s a reason why he is who he is. Guys respect him. He’s a killer. He’s a silent assassin. He always says, ‘When we shoot we shoot.’ When we shoot, he shoots with us. And what are we going to do? We’re going to unload the clip. When he’s back there doing his thing, it’s like an energy and a spirit. You feel it. It gets on everybody. Everybody starts feeling it and we know it’s go time.”

I could see us at 11 or maybe 10 as a stretch, although I don’t take much stock in power rankings, but never understood why anyone gets upset if we’re not higher.  What do we care.  The record is what matters.  We beat Denver and Dallas which is possible as the Cowboys will be coming off a tough game the previous Sunday so there is a very good chance.

Until we beat a team that people expect us to get handled by, a team with a solid record, it will be more of the same. It's quite understandable. I'm hoping our guys come out on Thanksgiving ready to play and put together their most complete game of they year against the Cowboys. First on the agenda though, keeping it going against the Broncos this week.

Drunken phone calls.  Drunken texting.  And now, apparently, drunken poll taking.

Who's the homer that voted us #1?

It will be the Ravens.

That would be a good sign, since they are our most likely opponent in the wild card game.

No.  Ravens will have a bye wild card weekend.  Wild card opponent will be Chiefs, Raiders, Colts or Texans, depending on who makes the playoffs, assuming the Bills make the dance, which is by no means assured at this point.

Right for some reason I was still thinking of the Chiefs being the 2nd seed earlier in the season.  We can still help the Ravens get back to the wild card game by beating them.

there is almost zero chance, ok there IS zero chance, we play them in the wild card game.....first two teams get a bye, they will be the first or at worst 2nd seed. I know we havent factored much into the playoffs in the past 20 years, but come on.

Ahhhh, the Eagles did handle the Bills in Buffalo....there is that.....

There's two "Billsy" losses every year, hopefully we got them out of our system with the Eagles and Browns.

I addressed that just before you posted.

cool?

Yes, cool.  Cooler than you declaring they are basically a lock to beat out the Patriots for the first seed.  I just played with the playoff calculator and with realistic game picks, we absolutely can meet Baltimore in the wild card if we make it to at least 10-6 with a win over the Ravens, and they take one upset loss elsewhere.  It's hardly ZERO chance.  Houston actually has a shot at the second seed with their schedule apparently and a tiebreaker over the Chiefs.

didnt declare them a lock to beat pats for 1st seed, I declared them a lock for one of the top 2 seeds, since neither of them play on wildcard weekend. And even if they somehow slipped to the 3rd seed, they still wouldnt play the bills because the bills are tracking for the fifth seed. So a lot would have to happen for the Bills to play the Ravens wildcard weekend - sure it "could happen"? maybe...not likely...but maybe? lol.

Dont get mad because you forgot how the playoffs work / your backtrack reasoning that you forgot the Chiefs werent that high in the standings anymore

As biggie says, its all good baby baby!

By this method of ranking, I guess it also follows that the Cleveland Browns should be ranked ahead of the Baltimore Ravens too, right?

Yep, you bring up a point why these rankings are really opinion of a person or a group based off ever evolving results.

They are meaningless but I admit I look at them. Hard to argue with anywhere from 8-12. Bills need to beat Denver and then get a couple wins against teams they will be an underdog too.

I always thought these Power Rankings were silly. It was Bill Parcells who famously said, "You are what your record says you are". The Bills are the only team at 7-3, which neatly and without debate places them at #8.

Kiss me your glorious and wonderful fool!*
