Just listened to Josh press meeting and he said new stadium will have grass field! Did I miss this from previous reports?

Yes this has been reported before. For example:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/bills/2023/06/06/new-buffalo-bills-stadium-will-have-natural-grass-playing-surface/70292141007/

Natural grass with heating elements beneath, similar to Lambeau.

My guess is the need for sunlight to grow grass limited the width of the canopy

Totenheim has lighting trusses they roll out on the field to keep the grass growing.  I'd imagine they would implement something similar here.

From wikipedia

"Grow lights are suspended on six 70-metre trusses to encourage the growth of the grass in the shaded areas of the stadium, and they can be folded away under the North Stand when not in use.[162][163][87] The grass can also be maintained for up to 5 days with artificial lighting, air ventilation, dehumidification and irrigation systems when the pitch is retracted under the south podium"

Lambeau is a hybrid I believe. Real with a weave. 😏

Cheektowaga! Every seat will be behind a pole (me included).

My other Cheektowaga joke-

Q: What do you call the elevator in the Cheektowaga Town Hall?

A: A ski lift!

True trivia: Back in the late 80s  ALL  of the elected officials in Cheektowaga except one, were Polish.  That one was half Polish. His mom was, his dad wasn't.

I personally think the stadium should have replaced the Peace Bridge, and the 50-yard line would be the International Border.

Bass kickoffs, into Fort Erie.

"Diggs catches the ball, he's at the 40, the 45, he stops at Customs at the 50, gives his passport and answers their questions, oh, they don't like his answers, he's being led into the bowels of the stadium for further questioning.  We'll have a dead ball situation here and time will stop until he returns."

Nah I'm sure with the tech they got today they could have a webbed netting with the correct grow lights led that could be stretched across field a appropriate height from the grass to promote proper growth even in winter weather.  I mean they are gonna use a strain of grass that's grows well in cold areas.  Not all areas of the earth have 4 seasons. And there's been plenty of grow light advances thanks in part to the other 'grass'.  So doubt they'd need to worry about the only light for growth is natural sunlight

All the major European soccer stadiums do. They are all grass fields at the top level and they all have the lighting trusses that are on it almost permanently on non-game days.

The officials are huddling.... here comes the announcement "Visa Violation, Offense, 15 yard penalty, re-play 2nd down"

Lambeau does not use a pure grass field.  It uses a Desso GrassMaster mixture of artificial and real grass.

File below is an Open Office spreadsheet, a composite from multiple sources sorted by field type.  Each single source I found was out of date or had mistakes.

Gotcha. Well if the quote from Beane in that article is completely accurate, maybe that’s what they’re going to go with. He does say “grass like Lambeau has.”
