mushypeaches
Well, after going 6-11 this year, and having very little draft capital in 2023, I think that Stephen Ross will get a second chance at tanking (hopefully more discreetly) to get ready for the 2024 & 2025 drafts Breaks my frigging heart to see this happen to a despised divisional opponent. I hesitate to call them a "rival" until they next win a game against the Bills

It’s out of character for the “boys club” they have been historically. That was certainly true in the past. The Watson case is forcing the league’s hand however. In her ruling Sue Robinson addressed the NFL’s inconsistency in application of their PCP. The league does not want the next player up for a suspension making the same argument. Might be a new day. Edited to add: Plus no owner wants other teams tampering with their players. This is an owner v owners issue. LabattBlue
Listening to SiriusNFL radio over the last 30 minutes. Amber blahblahblah stated multiple times what a big loss it will be not having the owner around until November. Huh? Yes, the draft picks are a big deal, but who cares if the owner has been suspended. Is it really a lot to ask, to think before you speak. Mr. WEO
"Suspending" an owner is as silly as it sounds. lol--can't hang around the "facility" and sniff jocks until october. View from the owners suite will be the same on Sunday's. Anyway, this didn't turn out quite like Flores had hoped......essentially the NFL has blown him off. BigDingus
I have a feeling the punishment is actually for the tanking, but they're claiming it's for the Tom Brady thing to save face. Talking to another player under contract is far more acceptable publicly than admitting the highest authority of a team actively offered bonuses to throw games. Of course the NFL is not going to acknowledge an owner was trying to pay his coach to intentionally lose. That scandal would be exponentially more catastrophic to the credibility of the game than "we talked to a player too early" (which likely happens all the time through unofficial channels). 2 2

Suspension from the league meeting is a big deal if he can’t send other representation. I have not seen whether or not that was the case. As for not being able to play with his multibillion dollar toy for a few months, good. It will also help the league the next time they put forth a case to suspend a player. The real hit is the first and third round picks.

They are not obligated to accept that ruling. I wasn't sure if they would. I thought they should. Watson is a scum bag and 6 games is a terrible look. But I wasn't sure Goodell wanted this incident to be the first time he pulls this tool out of his tool box. I think they might now... Some of the criticism has been that the league protects their own and is lenient on owners. A full year suspension and losing a first is a lot. FilthyBeast
Hopefully this is foreshadowing a harsher punishment for Watson given the timing here. Also in regards to the Dolphins talk about a major momentum blow given all the hype coming of South Florida in recent weeks. They better hope Tua takes a big step or losing valuable draft capital could really hurt them next year.
