As a bills fan, I feel most of us feel that we’re over the KC hump. We know they aren’t better. That’s getting over the hump from a fans perspective.  Winning the super bowl is the only thing that matters…..making it to the super bowl doesn’t get us over any hump.  Only winning it does.  We know how good we are.  The only hump that exists in my mind is winning a SB.  We’re the SB favorite.  No one else.

As long as Brady is still strapping on the helmet he is a favorite to win the SB. Hell last year took his coach being an idiot and calling a 0 blitz.. (that somehow not everyone got the memo for) to lose to the eventual SB Champs.. otherwise a good chance we have a repeat champion.

The Bills are THE favorite.  This isn’t an opinion.  Favorites are determined by Vegas lines and look who’s on top of the Vegas lines.

Not sure why Brady’s name is even being mentioned.  We beat them last year too. Unfortunately the refs didn’t think we were worthy.

Literally every betting book out now has the bills as the favorites. Every book has them as the co- favorites before the Miller signing…. Also I love how you lock Brady in for a title if not for an anomalous stupid event but don’t acknowledge the same for the bills. Which happened to be an even more freakish and rare occurrence

Gotta me nice being able to literally pull a man’s jersey down to his belly button right in from of the red at the GL and get cute little no-call.

A couple of things.  First, I know nothing about Star's contract situation, but recall when Wood was dine and said he was retiring.  Then he backed off, because the timing was screwing up either his situation or the Bills.  He waited a few months and then officially announced. Might Star be in the same position?

Ah, no you're missing the key piece of Wood.  Wood scheduled a retirement presser, then backed off from using the word "retirement"  because the Bills FO wouldn't commit to not asking him to forfeit his guarantees or give back part of his amortized signing bonus.  Contracts are guaranteed for injury and skill, but not for retirement!

So then a few months later, Wood reported to mandatory OTAs, the team physician gave him a physical and failed him, and the Bills released him with a failed physical designation.  His salary and signing bonus were all his, because the Bills cut him for a football-related physical condition.

THEN sometime after that, Wood retired.  See, if you retire after you've been cut by the team, it doesn't affect your guarantees.

Star being cut as of today, he can now retire.  Team cut him first.

Note: all my understanding, developed from what I read at the time of Wood's retirement.  Teams can, of course, choose to say "keep it" as the Colts did with Luck.

Lol betting books are for sucker! The last two years they have had KC as the favorite.. so far 0-2.

The Bills are SB contenders in a very loaded AFC. Right now this is how I see the AFC higher archy by division:

1. East Bills — easily..

2. North Browns — I think adding Watson puts them over the top. (Followed by Bengals, then Ravens, last be Steelers)

3. South— Titans Easily they are the best coach and most talented. Followed by Indy.

West — All 4 teams are scary now.. who wins it? All 4 teams could win any of the other divisions or at least scare the favorite to the end.

The AFC has 8 legit SB Contenders.. and you know there be some surprise team that will add to the mix just like every other year.

That is why they play the games. Nobody declared it a lock that I know of.

The AFC is a rough path, for sure. I don’t know who will represent in the Super Bowl, but you can’t argue that Vegas doesn’t have the Bills as favorites. That’s not an opinion, that is a fact.

It makes sense, but once Bates was inserted as the starter at LG, the O line played very well last year.  I don’t think Josh took a sack in the last 5 games…How much more “protection” does he need?

I'm not sure where to find stats pertaining to pressure, but one thing to keep in mind is that Josh aids his linemen's sack numbers a lot by making incredible plays to evade pressure that only a couple guys in the league can make.

Definitely. He led the league in QB pressures against him. The Bills need help on the OL still.

This signing was made to beat one team. And one team only....KC.

No doubt the FO never wants to witness the defensive disaster we saw in the PO again.

And the team to follow. In the Super Bowl.

They don't offer the Away Jersey's on NFLShop. I wanted one of those as I've already got a couple Blue Home jerseys, but no White ones.

And how are the Official Nike Replica Jerseys on the Buffalo Bills Shop different than the Official Nike Replica Jerseys on NFLShop.com? 🤨

Different fits and fabrics.  I believe the Bills store one is more “game like”, the nfl.com is the Nike version of the NFL Proline jersey.  That’s why I got the nfl.com one, better fitting.

Bring on Mahomes, bring on Herbert, bring on Wilson, Burrow and Watson. Rousseau, with another year under his belt along with Basham and Von Miller, Ed,Tre, Matt, Micah, Jordan and the rest of gang on defense will protect any lead Josh will give them. Von Miller will make that much of a difference come playoff time. Go Bills!!

I think you're just thinking about the difference between the $150 "Limited" Jerseys and the $120 "Game" Jerseys.

I've gotten Game Jerseys from each place and they're the same. The Limited Jerseys are more expensive, of a different material, and have numbers and letters stitched on.

I hope everyone prepares for a lot of late games.

It took the NFL a year or two to figure out how well the Bills travel, and how much audiences love Josh Allen.

We *might* get as many prime time games as the Cowboys.  It's gonna be close. Jerrah is gonna have to pull out all the stops.

It played better but “very well”. Nah. Josh was pulling some Houdini ***** to escape almost definite sacks as his offensive line got blown up in front of him…. Especially in the divisional game.

I’m still not even sold on Brown. Dude was down right awful at times in pass protection last season.

I don't think anyone should be "sold" on Brown. He was a rookie lol. Of course he isn't a finished product

Well done.

Clearly they plan on this being a 3 year commitment.  Year by year after if he’s trying to be Reggie White.

7.4M in dead cap Year 4

3.7M in dead cap Year 5

0 dead cap Year 6

If this is accurate, then an excellent job by Beane. I was expecting worse

I’m not sure how you can say that.  No one laid so much as a glove on Josh for the last month of the season…oh, and the running was good too.

Well I wasn't way off with my guess 2 days ago. A bit smaller signing bonus, a bit lower 2022 cap hit in exchange for higher cap hits next 2 years.

Overall nice contract, next year will be fun cap wise :)

Didn't read the whole thread so no idea if this was discussed, but I will take a wild guess on contract structure:

$24M signing bonus spread over 6 years. There will be some other yearly bonuses instead of base salary I am just make it simple for the guess purposes.

Y1 - 4M base salary (8M cap hit)

Y2 - 11M base salary (15M cap hit)

Y3 - 14M base salary (18M cap hit)

Y4 - 17M base salary (21M cap hit, 12M dead cap)

Y5 - 25M base salary (29M cap hit, 8M dead cap)

Y6 - 25M base salary (29M cap hit, 4M dead cap)

That's 120M total, 53M in first 3 years, 70M in first 4. I can imagine signing bonus being a little less, but I doubt its less than 20M.

EDIT: What is surprising, according to sportrac signing bonus is spread over 5 years only, not all 6. I had no idea it was even possible. So it means that after 3 years there is only dead cap of 2 years worth of signing bonus (7,4M). Interesting.

Yeah I was unsure about that as well, but it has been done in the past.

See Trent Williams

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/trent-williams-6513/

Still somewhat likely there will be dead cap hits added in the later years of the deal assuming they restructure in 2023 or 24.

Edit:

Signing bonus can only be spread over a max of 5 years, interesting:

"Players receive a signing bonus upon signing their contract with a team and it is fully guaranteed. The player usually receives payment in the first year after signing with a team. The team can pay the player the whole amount at once or spread the payments out over the length of the contract to reserve cap space. This is known as a “prorated bonus” and a team can spread the payment out over a maximum of five years. However if the team cuts the player it must pay the full amount outstanding reducing their cap space."

I’ve been sold on several rookies.  Many people have been.

You don’t think anyone should ever be sold on a rookie?  That’s strange.  Being sold on a player doesn’t mean that said player will 💯 be a star, it just means that you loved what you saw and are confidant that they’ll be good players.

Von Miller signing is the Bills pushing their chips to the middle of the table and going all in. They should maintain that same aggressiveness come the trade deadline in terms of adding pieces for that run to a championship. It is Super Bowl or bust now for this team in terms of expectations moving forward.

Josh Allen was the highest pressured QB in the NFL last season. I’m not sure anyone thinks last years line would be considered good or not in need of an upgrade.
