Webb better be getting some guaranteed money— otherwise this deal Doesn’t make a lot of sense. He has a great thing going now.

Likely more opportunity in NY than in Buffalo. If Webb signed here they would still look for backup and the coaches in front of him for the next couple years for something like QB coach is a longer list here too.

Draft another mid to late round QB and there is your QB2. That you can then flip in 3 years for assets.

time to get in the QB flipping business. Allen is the “Vet” QB on this roster. Nothing more than Rollie Contracts for that BU.

like the QB flipping, would also like a vet backup who can win us a few games if Allen is out.

This loss is probably bigger than many fans and commentators will recognize, given Webb's sizable contributions as an offensive (and I think defensive assistant, if I'm remembering correctly) quality control coach AND as one of Josh Allen's best friends on the team and definitely in the QB room. Luckily, Allen has probably progressed to the point now that he's ready to fill in that preparation gap created by Webb's departure. And of course the apparently excellent relationship between Dorsey and Allen might entirely mitigate Webb's absence during game prep.

Am I right that Webb even helped the D prepare/break down film each week? Anyone with the maturity to perform a 10-to-30-second Google search or two?

CLASSIC!!!!

What a great show that was and whata cast! Got a chance to go to the bar it’s based on in Boston a long time ago doing the tourist thing. Was always a Celtic fan , John havlicheck worked on a surveying crew under my dad in the summer while goin to Ohio state. Was my first year as a doc in Jax and took my GF with me on a tour of Boston.  In one day went to the old Boston garden and waked on the Parque floor and went into the tiny visitors locker room. Then caught a game at Fenway and Roger pitched that night. Finished the day at that bar ( not all that impressive), but a day to remember as a sports fan. Fav teams have always been the Bills ,Celtics , and Pirates.  Watched that show and loved all the characters.  Woody , coach, Diane, Frazier ,Cliff  , Sam , Carla, Rebecca ,Lilith etc !  What a cast! Greatest theme song!  Man that warms my heart.  Tv is just not the same. Those were the days of clasic sitcoms that are still relevant.
Thx for posting that memory!  🍸👍😊😀

Josh was best friends with Barkley so I wondered if him not being brought back would affect Josh and it didn’t appear to.

That's a cool connection with Havlicek, but as an old Buffalo Braves fan I still hold a hatred for the Celtics deep in my heart.  I will say one time when I was a kid for some reason we were in the hotel the Celtics were staying at in Buffalo (maybe a brunch or something?) and all their players were in the lobby - and probably somewhere still in my Dad's house is the piece of paper from that day with autographs from Jo Jo White, Havlicek, Cowens etc - even Heinsohn.

How often does this happen with backup QBs?

Happens often if there is flashes shown from a younger QB. The team just has to be willing to do it.

my point is you have Josh a Proven Veteran QB. You don’t need to drop big money into the BU positions. Anything more than 2M in the BU and we are not managing assets correctly.

And to be honest I want Fitz know where near this team as a BU.

everywhere he goes as a BU he starts an injury or stunted growth in your young QB happens.

great guy but not brining him back in a Jersey. A coach sure when that time comes.

Ahhh. Celtics PTSD just jumped out at me with flashes of JoJo White standing by himself at the free throw line in The Aud.  That was my Braves "no goal" moment. Cheers!  Loved that Braves team.

I get that but BU QBs rarely get traded for assets

The only team with a bit of success doing this was the Cheaters.

Get me the cheapest FA QB available or his Mexican equivalent ;) ( a great Mr. Burns line)

Like I have said before Josh is as durable as a Cat D8 Bulldozer  :)

He just runs stuff over and keeps going :)

Webb as a starter doesn't exist.  He's made of flatus and moonbeams.  A figment of many fertile imaginations here...

The G Men started Fromm when Jones was hurt.

Webb might get in there when Jane goes down ;)

OMG - I actually looked for that iconic picture from under the basket that showed the scoreboard and that time had run out before McAdoo touched him - I couldn't find in anywhere online (it's in my copy of "Buffalo Home of the Braves" book - which is signed by Jack Marin BTW :) )

God I loved the Braves

Webb is probably a considerable loss to the QB room.

I’ve always been a guy who said the only QB in the room who matters is 17 but Webb was like having another coach in his ear.

Losing him, Trubisky (maybe) and Daboll is quite a bit. Hopefully we can get a smart vet back in the room.

We're at a point as a team where we need an experienced backup qb to give us a chance to win games if Josh goes down for a few games, and not worry about how much we can get for said backup in a trade. Those were the good old days when we weren't expected to be in the playoffs. As we saw this year a game or two has large ramifications on playoff seeding.

Pittsburgh did this with Charlie Batch, he was a backup who could come in and play ok as well as be a sounding board for Ben. Fitz could be that for us, if he was willing to accept that he is the backup and do the things that position requires. I could see Josh and Fitz getting along well too.
