the officiating this year has been complete and pure trash. We get called on this last time but New Orleans gets a pass. It’s just way too inconsistent

I'm not one to complain too much about officials calls.  While they are bad an inconsistent, think they balance out over the course of the year.  Certainly in the eyes of the home town fans that's never true.  But do agree that one should have been called as no worse than the one called on Oliver.

 

Could be as the article mentioned, the official was looking downfield at where the pass went as that seemed to be his main focus.

Of course they, more or less, balance out over a game and/or season!  

 

Won't stop a certain Bills fan contingent from bitching about them in EVERY GAME.

 

Then you have the contingent that wants to fire the OC, whoever that may be, after every game!

There should have been a taunting call, and a roughing the passer call on that play.

 

But the refs were consistent and kept the flag in their pockets for both teams all night (as much as possible, anyways). And it definitely made for a better game. Since they were pretty fair about it, I'm fine with no calls there.

 

I wont judge them compared to how other crews call games. We know NFL officiating is an absolute mess in general. But I'm fine with the way Thursday night went.

Agree, for as much as we complain about officiating calls that don't go the Bills' way, we definitely get calls in our favor that tend to go unnoticed.  I still maintain that, when we played the Chiefs, on Buffalo's last TD drive, when Josh threw the INT that got called back due to roughing the passer, that was a terrible call in our favor.  That was a big play given that the Chiefs would have had the ball at around midfield when it was still a two-possession ball game.

The only thing I will say in relation to this, is that Allen generally, doesn't appear to get the same treatment when it comes to 'roughing the passer', as many other QBs seem to.

 

Now, Josh is a big unit, and he shrugs off a lot of stuff, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be called regardless.

I loved that they didn’t call all this nonsense. If I had a gripe, they should have let the Oliver one go too— he just nailed him in the chest as the ball was released.  
 

the QB hit stuff and taunting calls are getting so annoying. The last think I want to see is another Land Clark game, where they are calling this every other play.

You have to be consistent, especially when it comes to calls designed to protect the safety of QBs.

in 2019 and 2020, Allen almost perfected getting “cheap” roughing the passer calls.

 

He was masterful at, scrambling to his right, throwing the ball off-balance, and if a defender just put a hand on his shoulder pad, he was flinging himself to the ground and drawing the Roughing the Passer.

 

Its not pretty to say…

 

But

 

Allen is sort of a Flopper.  And a bad actor at that when he does it.

 

it had me laughing when the Saints defender talked to Allen face-to-face and suddenly Allen SNAPPED his head back like he just got a brick to the face.  😂 

 

Now…should some hits on him draw yellow?  ABSOLUTELY.

But again…some things working against Allen.

 

1.) He’s Big (like Cam Newton, Refs aren’t always bailing out the big ones.)

 

2.) He may have a little reputation as a Flopper.

 

3.) He has that “b*tc*ing” to the ref after every hit mentality that probably isn’t going over well.

 

At this point…he’s not working the refs particularly smart or effective.

And Brady has been bitching at the refs since he got into the league over getting looked at funny from DEs.  The NFL needs to protect all its QB's, esp. it's "marquee" ones.  This was a total failure by that ref.  And refs should be fined for missing stuff like this, but they won't, because they have a ref's union, which is totally absurd.

 Certain players get certain calls based on who they are and what they have done.  Others need to do a little bit more work to earn that privilege.

pretty sure Brady started whining the minute he was in the league.  

 

And Allen has earned the right to complain about late hits, IMO.  He's in the freaking running for MVP.

Oliver got screwed while low hit on Allen was allowed (Brady rule) these officials are totally inconsistent from week to week .apparently they also are allowed to hit Allen out of bounds and after sliding

On the same play that Tre got hurt, there was a blatant hold on 97 by the left tackle. Began as a headlock and turned into a bear hug. 
 

I understand 5hat there is holding on every play, but if you’re only calling blatant holds, that was one to call.

I've seen opposing teams' QBs get RTP called in their favor.  Again in a league where protecting the QB is important, it should be applied equally.

I like a coach who expresses disdain on the field at the time. Take it to the point you almost get 15 yards against the coach.

 

Refs usually do better when they know the coach will call them on it on national TV at the time of the call.

im fine with less flags,  im not fine with blatant no calls on dirty or dangerous plays,  or plays that change the game.

 

call it consistent for both teams,  enforce rules that are designed to protect the players.  that no call going late and low on Josh on a passing play is the kind of bush league crap that makes people question the NFL.   Brady gets that call if somebody so much as passes gas within a five yard radius of him.   consistency is all we ask.    this season has been the worst when it comes to consistency.

If Allen wants the roughing calls then he needs to swallow his pride and act like the hits are hurting him.

 

When he gets hit.......stay down for a minute.......get up with a limp.......act like his availability is in question if he takes another hit like that.

 

Then the hankees will follow.

 

I'm not advocating that.........but that's the only way a beast of a QB like Allen who intentionally puts his body on the line to make big plays is going to get them.

 

The rules are in place to protect the vulnerable...........if you don't act like one of them you won't get the calls.
