Zach Wilson knee injury [sprained PCL, miss 2-4 weeks]

Dr. Chao on twitter, who's pretty spot on when it comes to injuries and recovery times, has it as a grade 2 PCL strain. Normal recovery time of 2-4 weeks, if it's grade 3, which he didn't rule out it would be a bit longer.

So by the sounds of it, it looks like he's def. out the next 2 games and a better than 50/50 chance he's out for the Bills game. Although a 3 week return is possible according to the Dr's timeline.

If Wilson is put on IR he'd be out 3 games ensuring he misses the Bills game.

If Jets don't IR Zach Wilson by the end of this week, it'd be a sign they think he can get back in time for Bills game. We will see

Disgusting how inconsistent the referees and calls are. That first hit was brutal and most likely where most if not all of the damage to his pcl occurred.  Blatant hit that looks like a dirty pats play going almost directly right for his knees and yet no call in a wide open field where there is no excuse or way the refs did not see it yet ignored it. This stuff is what hurts the NFL;  phantom holding calls like on Morse, yet the most dangerous type of hit below the waist directed at a qbs knees and nothing but crickets.   That crew needs to be fined and let’s hope this pats crap doesn’t show up when Josh is exposed.

Afc is filled with good teams and we have 2 conference losses. Titans destroyed the Chiefs, so just another sign we don’t want to go there in the pLayoffs.  Bengals, Ravens, Raiders all look good and are 5-2 so we need to get our red zone issues solved and not play down to weaker teams we will be facing. I think Daboll needs to back off on so many personnel groups and simplify things for consistency. Titans have a good formula, run game threat and it opens their passing game up along with an ability to pressure and hit the qb.  We have to get better line play, and I hope Mcd stops the “ numbers” game with all the rotating inactive. You drafted all the d lineman , no need for 8 active o lineman on game day ( that’d why we have swing guys , right?) , so get AJ & Basham playing and getting reps as we have to hit the qb.    The Bucs, Pack, and Cards look legit as well so we have lots of progress to get to their level of consistency if we actually have title hopes.

The best thing for Wilson would be to sit and watch the games for the next month. Allen benefited greatly from his 4 week break his rookie year. Rushing Wilson back would be another sign at just how screwed up an organization they are. And I'm not saying this because I want him to miss the Bills game. With or without Wilson wouldn't matter to the final score.

I don't even know who the Jets backup QB is, but from what I've seen, think I'd rather face Wilson so hope he's OK.  Best case he's back in 2 to 3 weeks, plays against the Bills, but is less than 100% mobile which would make a bad situation for the Jets even worse.

Really want to see Wilson versus Rousseau and the rest of our D.

The first one looks penalty worthy, if he was Tom Brady. The second one? Meh.

Neither were dirty, in my opinion. The first one had a bad outcome, but he got hit right as he threw and I'm sure he counted as a runner there (if not, he probably should have gotten the flag because he was hit low).

Second one is not a flag in any way. Not sure how any fan could complain about that. He hit him at the waist level and fell down with him.

But consistency matters. If Ed Oliver falling on Mahomes' feet trying to make a play while getting pushed is roughing the passer, that first hit on Wilson HAS to be called.

Mahomes was in the pocket and receives protection. Outside the pocket he is now treated like a runner and not afforded the below the knees call.  Oliver's shouldn't have been called because he was blocked/pushed down towards the knee.

Huge difference - Mahomes is in the pocket and the low hit protection is part of the passing QB protection.  Low hits in the pocket will get called.

Wilson is outside the pocket running - the rule for low hit protection is no longer offered as he is considered a “runner” and gets more running back protection - even though he stops and tries to throw the ball.

Consistency matters, but not more than the correct interpretation of the rules based on situations.

Neither should of been a foul and neither were “Dirty” - the first hit certainly could have been delivered differently, but it should not have been a penalty.

Wilson could have thrown the ball away sooner and used the sidelines and protected himself, but he did not.

The second hit where he got hurt - there was absolutely nothing there - Wilson landed on his knee and it “popped”.

Yeah, once he leaves the pocket, he's considered a runner and doesn't get QB protection anymore.  And that was just bad luck with his leg getting caught up like that.

Man the Jets are snakebit.  Not that I thought Wilson was any good, but this surely doesn't help.

I'd be so pissed if that ####### twisted Allen up like that.

Im generally sympathetic to the defenders and how difficult their job is now, but if I ever saw a play where it looked to me like someone was trying to injure someone else…. That’s it.

I just don’t see it.

Guy hits him in the hip just after he throws the ball.  Wilson has both feet in the air - so the hit drives him backwards.

When Wilson lands his leg buckles under him and they go to the ground.  Guy let’s go of his leg and Wilson ends up on top of him.

If he wanted to injure him - don’t let go of the leg.  If Guy had kept ahold of the leg and pinned it as they rolled - I would agree - he was trying to injure him, but he hit him and took him down and let go of the leg.

A dirty play was the hit on Josh where the guy purposely rolled and twisted the leg.  The reason the hit by Guy looks so bad is Wilson throws the ball and then gets both legs off the turf, but that just caused his body to drive backwards and land awkwardly with the hit.

The player didn’t even take a step into Wilson after the throw - he is literally breaking down and hitting Wilson as he throws the ball away.

Plus that hit is his left leg and the injury was to the right leg - so the 2 are unrelated.
