Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis must sit out 5 days due to close contact

With the Pfizer vaccine now having full approval, there's no reason the Bills can't mandate that every toilet cleaner, broom pusher, and pot washer at OBD be vaccinated.  The Delta variant is, however causing quite a few breakthrough cases

Actually besides "choice" there are people with allergies to ingredient components (one of my wife's staff is in that situation) and religious objections.

Are these people to be put out of a job which is illegal unless you are a federal contractor who can be prevented from working so company lets you go for "lack of work".

Vaccinated people can get the virus and pass it along.  Correct?

If that is true, it makes no sense to isolate Beasley and Davis for 5 days simply because they are unvaccinated……if that is in fact the case about them and is in fact the policy.  What would be the rationale?  If a vaccinated Diggs were with them would he be ok to attend practice?  If so why?  Either all of them and the staff member should be isolated or none of them should be.  If the virus can be caught and/or passed along by anyone regardless of vaccination status, then what is the rationale of disparate treatment?  Maybe there is one, but it has not been properly explained as far as I can see.

Not to derail the topic.... but there are several things that are FDA approved that should not be. Holds no merit IMO. (just do a quick google search)

Yes, because Joe Sixpack doing a five-minute Google search can reveal far more information than a legion of professionals with billion-dollar budgets working with a knowledge base that's been accumulated and refined for decades.

What happens if any of these 3 test positive, miss their time, and then say, Week 4 this happens again and they're unvaccinated but clearly should have natural immunity.... I'm assuming they still have to miss 5 days again?

Good question.  I think you're correct.  I can't find it now, but I remember reading that the NFL finally changed its policy to reflect the evidence for natural immunity by saying players who had a previous infection + 1 shot would now count as fully vaccinated.  Maybe they'll revisit this policy, too.

Many here have been blaming the policy if you read previous posts

there is plenty of room for those that think the policy is bad and daily testing for all players needs to happen WHILE also being disappointed in anyone that is not vaccinated.

A couple more to the list. What a **** show.

So the Bills have at least 4 starters and their #4 WR, who should be a big contributor, that are unvaccinated.

Sweet

This was the Covid Charlie snowball I was referring to upthread.

This is really dumb. Overreacting to this extent is unsustainable. These particular vaccines are not the be all and end all and we really need to adjust our perspective on this virus.

This can’t become the new normal. People need check themselves.

no one is saying they are the be all end all. They help prevent the spread and serious illness

If they were vaccinated they wouldn't have been tested this morning.... And they wouldn't be sent home for being a close contact...

They aren't vaccinated

I could be wrong, but I think every close contact (vaccinated and unvaccinated) is tested immediately and for the next 5 days.

The "sent home" bit is correct.

Yes, vaccinated people can catch it and pass it along, however, they are much less likely to do so (by ~80% from what I have seen.). Of course that number may shift with new variants.

They can either pass it or they can’t.  If the NFL or anyone else is going to get into what percentage chance of passing it is “low enough”, that is pretty arbitrary.  Is someone with natural immunity from having had the virus a “low enough” risk?

Star continues to remain on my “bad” list. It’s his right not to have the vaccine, but at the same time for someone who sat out all last year, apparently so concerned about the virus, you would’ve thought he’d be first in line to take every precaution necessary to stave off the virus, including the vaccination. I don’t think he loves football and again, I’m surprised he hasn’t been afforded a single game rep yet, regardless of his veteran status.

If the NFL continues this policy - 2021 will be even more of a mess than 2020.

I can't wait until the league starts rescheduling games again just like last year. Get ready for a Wednesday home game starting at 3:00 just like they did last years Ravens- Steelers game.

FFS better now than in season i guess

It's not like they tested positive and now have protection for the regular season... This could happen every week for the next three months.

There is a very good chance these guys miss games.

Maybe he feels his initial fears were overblown.

Can you explain why it makes a difference?   If you are vaxxed, and can still get the virus and also pass the virus, why does having a mix matter?  Serious question, not trying to be sarcastic.

First, it's much less likely you contract the virus if fully vaxxed.  Second, if you DO contract the virus you're much less likely to spread it.  Combine the two and there is significantly less uncertainty among a group who are ALL fully vaxxed.  Add the unvaxxed into that mix and it's all screwed up.

Where does any of this make sense? I just can't wrap my head around it.

Cole is around a vaccinated staff member that was positive. Cole tests negative. Must sit out 5 days because he isn't vaccinated but if he was he could continue to practice....... even though the staff person he was around..... was vaccinated with covid.

Make it make sense.

It's this simple - the NFL is incentivizing players to get the vaccine because they know that is the best way to prevent an outbreak. No policy is going to be perfect. They don't expect to stop all covid cases. They just want players to take the best preventative measure available to them.

Forfeiting games will be worse. The league will not want to deal with the outrage from the fans. Could you imagine if the Bills season is ruined because of this?

Yay worse players

And how does this create roster spots btw?

If they go on Covid reserve we do get the option of replacing them, although I'd be surprised if this lasts into week 1.  But if it did, we could use it to keep guys like Marquez into week 1 before stashing him on IR.

They made the Broncos play without a QB last year.  I don't think they see it the same way the average fan does,
