Good things about the 18-10 victory over the Jets

It wasn't pretty -but- how many games in the NFL are pretty anymore?? The typical NFL game in 2020 comes down to last second field goals, critical penalties and a lot of luck!!

The positives I saw were:

-A win moving to 5-2

-Josh looked positive and took the short passes the Jets gave him

-The DL made big plays and got sacks

-Positive rookie performances (Bass, Moss, Gabriel, Jackson, AJ)

-Loving Beasley

Practice reps for the kicking unit.  Seriously.  All 3 of them got live game action and reps.  Hopefully it helps going forward.

The defense - 10 points and 4 yards for the 2nd half are both numbers to hang their hat on.  Hopefully they continue to bring pressure.

Epenesa sighting.

They got the w.  Not always gonna be pretty but a wins a win.

Limited injuries. Were there even any?

Good question - I listened to McDermott's entire presser today and did not hear one question about an injury.  Someone asked about Milano and McD said his "head was in a good place" this morning or something like that.

Diggs went down at one point and they said he was injured but he went back in, no one in the press asked about it that I heard.

Punter didn’t get many reps

But that’s another good thing.

As a holder he did.  I think bojo still struggles with getting the ball appropriately placed.  8 reps sunday hopefully helped him gain some confidence!

Ya the 4 yards was the lowest total yardage amount allowed in a half since 1970! Saw that stat on twitter. Very impressive even though it was against a terrible team. I hope it continues next week.

1.  The quick passes to Beasley to get him to the edge.

2.  As someone said upthread, more kicks for the rook.  Loved him talking smack to JETS sideline.

3. No punts

4.  Six sacks

5. 1 INT that led to late 1st half points

6. A very good kick return

7. A drive to start the 3rd.  Like they said, "enough of this.."

8. No obvious injuries on a field that sure had the 9ers spooked

9. A division win

10. 4 yards total offense for the J*E*T*S, JETS! JETS! JETS! in the second half

11.  And a bonus...  Getting to watch the smack down of the Patriots afterwards.

That’s interesting for sure. You typically only see that sort of thing in bad weather games: snow, high winds, rainstorms. While watching the second half it didn’t feel like the Jets were getting that little done.... but apparently they weren’t.

They never punted and they were in Jets territory for all 9 possessions.

They dominated on the stat sheet rolling up almost 425 yards to under 200 for the Jets.

They held the Jets to 4 total yards in the second half

The defensive coaches finally saw the light and used pressure packages in the 2nd half instead of just trying to rush 4. Why it took them 6.5 games to realize they were getting shredded and should probably try something else I don't know. The results spoke for itself.

They got 6 sacks and countless other pressures and hurries

Allen's accuracy returned after 2 relatively poor games in that regard.

They won and are 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the division.

I think biggest thing is we continue to move the ball.   Rarely does this team get 3 and outs.  Keep that happening and the TDs will come.

It wasn't pretty -but- how many games in the NFL are pretty anymore?

Well, let’s take the really good, Playoff bound teams this week.

Pitt won a hard fought Away game against another possible Playoff team.
As did Arizona.

And Tampa, Rams, Chiefs, Packers and 9ers v.s. the league stiffs?

They were pretty... pretty easy!
The Bills were not... at all. Very concerning.

The Browns were down a lot of the game against the Bengals. Also, while this does not necessarily help either of our arguments, you called a 5-1 team one of the "league stiffs." By this logic, the Saints (who many had winning the SB this year) just barely eked out a win against the Panthers (who most had in the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes before the season).

Basically, your grand argument boils down to some teams had close games and others did not. Ours was actually not as close as the score indicated once the second half started. The Bills made it to the Jets 35 or closer in every one of their ten drives. We held the awful Jets to their lowest offensive output of the year. It was the third fewest yards by any team this year.

They beat a bad team and overcame a lousy start. They may have learned some things and/or overcome whatever mental bugaboos in their heads. Next week, hopefully the Patriots are indeed the "stiffs" you label them as and we can both continue to iron out the rough spots while getting a major monkey off our backs.

I'm not "very concerned." Sure, this team could be the messy, moribund team of 5 of the last 6 halves. But it's also very likely this team could be the high-powered offense of the first four weeks, but paired with a defense closer to the one we've seen the last two years.  We'll find out a bit more next week.

Good thing..a W is a W and thats about it..I guess Allen DID get to 300.....but no TD thats pathetic . Good thing it was Vs the Jets for another turd of a game on O and D becasue had that been another team its probably the 4-3 Bills/ it was a W but a totally UNimpressive one.

Josh rebounded, no real injuries and they're 5-2.  Can't ask for or really say much more.

Exactly. They're 5-2 (3-0) and in charge of the division while playing a level of football that's likely below their talent (and only two games have been against doormats... well "doormat"). Their two losses are to the defending members of the AFC Championship who have two losses between them (and one of those was one to the other). Maybe their sloppiness is indicative of what we'll see all season. However, it's arguably more likely that they could snap to it the rest of the season as they have a lot of young players with high ceilings. I'd suggest it's more likely that the Bills are closer to the last two years' top three defense than to whatever they played the first 13 halves of the season.

Respectfully, almost every single game that Seattle plays is like out of a Hollywood movie.

My favorite things about the game (even considering we were just playing the Jets):

*  Allen throwing underneath.  He seems to want to make the big play all the time.  He talked earlier this year about instead taking what the D gives him.  He started doing that - successfully - against the Jets.

*  We pressured their QB!

And if you want to count W-L stuff, being 5-2 and leading the AFCE is a great thing.

Idk. In evaluating the O's performance, I add something in the good column for the uncalled PI when Beasley was forced off the field, the Davis TD that was called back for an inconsequential and stupid penalty, and our TE kissing the carpet instead of walking into the end zone. So it really wasn't just a bag of field goals IMO.

We don't have to worry about Daboll leaving for a head coaching job anymore.

If we even had solid guards on this team the running game would be working and this offense would be really humming. I still think Daboll is gone, there will be a lot of HC's fired after this year.
