McCaffrey Signs 4 Years 64 Million

Recommended Posts

This is not just about what the player is worth as a RB. He is a pretty decent WR too. And, he is not just being paid for his worth on the field. McCaffrey is the face of the franchise going forward (even more than the QB) - and is being paid accordingly. Actually, a very very smart play by Carolina.

Geez.  He’s amazing.  I think he’s better than Barkley....but I think they should’ve traded him

I had the number one pick in my fantasy draft last year and all the experts said Barkley ... fool that I was, I listened instead of going with that voice in my head telling me that CMC is the man

I agree. He got what leveon bell wanted with the RB/WR price tag but was smart enough not to screw it up.

He deserves it, best fantasy player ever

I'd still go LT 2006.

As for the contract - his yards per touch is in line with peak LT.  I don't think he'll maintain that, but assuming healthy - he's going to be a 300-400 touch type of player.

He's the best running back in the NFL currently - and should be getting 1000 on the ground and another 1000 in the air.  So i would assume this takes place after this upcoming year.  Takes him through age 28 then.

He's also better than Bell.  Bell was also tagged so i feel like negotiations were never smooth.  He got a bit more than David Johnson did on his extension, plus the extra year... and we all see how that worked out ?.

Bell got tagged because he was stupid with getting suspended for drugs and steelers didn’t want to do long term deal

I always found him overrated.  Then i played him in fantasy in 2016 against the bills and he absolutely shredded the vaunted Rex Ryan Defense... So what do i know?

Crazy year too - started 0-7 in fantasy and won out to make playoffs.  He was the main piece of the absolute annhiliation in that playoff game.  I made this horrible trade and the throw-in was chris hogan, and my friend who traded me him was talking smack.  I played him against buffalo and hogan had a nice game.  The Hogan throwaway move was the catalyst ?

Wow, they got a bargain locking him in at under 20 mil per... I would've made this trade all day everyday. Hopefully this was just part of our trade deal, thst he be signed and traded! A girl can dream can't he...

Lot of money for a running back. Even one who gives such good value as a receiver.

It is a ton of cash but think of it this way- if you can get 1000/1000 per that would be like 8 mil for a 1000 yard back and 8 mil for a 1000 yard receiver lol ?‍♂️

I had Barkley the year before and never regretted it, this year he was one of the top picks in our Drafts and I ended up taking David Johnson and later got AJ Green

I still didn't do bad for the season, but it was mostly due to alot of waiver claims.....

I like the deal despite some bad RB contracts the last few years.  No injury history.  Still very young at 23.  Only a four year contract as opposed to six years like the Cowboys gave Zeke.  Great production as a receiver and he basically was their offense last year.  One of the few RB's that's worth it.  This will pale in comparison to what Barkley will get in a year or two.

CMC is amazing and he deserves the money. I think it is a fair deal both ways.

I would just add that while his numbers were insane last year there is a big difference between getting seven yards on 3-12 vs 1-10.

I’m not calling Kyle Allen Trent Edwards 2.0 .....but he kinda was?
