Tampa Bay: hires new HC Bruce Arians

I’m higher on Winston than most.

Dude can sling it. He just needs to “not” sling it to the wrong team at times. Arians was huge for Carson Palmer. I assume he’ll do the same for Jameis.

Plus outside of Sam Jackson, nobody can rock the Kangol like Arians.

And outside of those two, you definitely put sack in your mouth if you do.

I don't think he's married to Winston.  I think they could be in play for Foles, Carr, even Tannehill.

...depends how much latitude the Glazers give him despite Licht's edict............

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer 12/31/18

TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht doesn't care if his head-coaching candidates are offensive-minded or defensive-minded. He isn't worried what scheme they will use, or even if the Bucs have to wait until after the playoffs to make a hire.

One thing is for certain, however: Whoever replaces Dirk Koetter must accept Jameis Winston as his quarterback.

The Bucs will be picking up Winston's fifth-year option, worth $20.9 million. That becomes fully guaranteed at 4 p.m. ET on March 13.

Surprising. I know it’s been rumored, but Winston is a bon fire waiting to explode. Typically, this is a coach killer.

Anyway, better Tampa than MIA or NYJ.

Maybe he went there for the chance to work with Fitzpatrick?.

Arians loves Jameis; that's one of the reasons this pairing was so obvious beyond the fact that the GM and Arians are good friends.

I've always liked Arians and he has gotten the absolute best out of every QB he's had. If anyone can transform Winston it is Arians. I bet Arians also convinces Jackson to hang around. It may possibly be the best receiving group he's ever coached as well with Evans, Jackson, Godwin, OJ Howard, and Brate. The offense should be sick, especially if he finds his type of RB. Bowles to coach that defense will be interesting as well. They have a good draft or two and this team will be right there in the NFC.

I think Tampa wants to get rid of DeSean regardless of if he buys in with Arians or not. I don't think either the player or the team are happy with him being there. They'd probably rather use that cap money to re-sign Adam Humphries but they might just let both of them go since they have Evans, Godwin, OJ Howard, and Brate if they keep him.

Dang, I forgot about Humphries. Just as well. Desean or no Desean, I still think it's the best group he's had top to bottom.

Gregggggggggg be sayin’ “Phew!  That was close!”

I hear it's between Kitchens & Stefanski.  Gregg isn't even mentioned in the latest rumors. It's a good thing he had so many offers before coming to Cleveland because he's going to need some this offseason.

I thought Arians retired because of health issues.  Don’t the cards hold his rights? Isn’t this an option year?

Bucs traded a 6th round pick to Arizona for a 7th round pick and the rights to Arians.

I'm getting ready to pilfer their defense as they got from a 4-3 to a 3-4.

You can probably have Gerald McCoy, Vinny Curry, and maybe Jason Pierre-Paul if you're lucky. I would guess they plan on building around Vita Vea, Lavonte David, and Kwon Alexander.

No.  They declined that option a while ago so he is free and clear.

Thought I heard this too. Had they picked up his option when he retired, they would still have his rights, but they declined to do it and he was a FA, thought I read somewhere they said the Bucs didn't ask for any permission from the Cards

This makes me wonder how bad things are in Arizona? Seems like the health concerns weren't as bad as they first made them out to be and maybe just a way to get out of there. His retirement lasted one season and he didn't have to be coaxed out of retirement, he was talking about wanting openings before the season ended.

This means... Draft Winston late people... Mike Evan's will be a top 5 player in fantasy & you might be able to get him in the 2nd rd!

You didnt read the pinned post at the top of the board I guess. The purple user names are to indicate when posters are in the new 'prospect' probationary period as a new member to the board. Members will be in this period until they reach a certain level and then they will get normal status with all the privileges.

I could see TB as a surprise team next year. I also could see Jameis suspended for a year as well.

Part of a condition in Arians contract?

He only takes the deal if they get him suspended for a year......

Is Fitzmagic still in Tampa?

If Arians is wed to Winston, they might as well put in the intra-aortic balloon pump right now...

Fitz is a free agent. Arians took the Bucs job because he loves Jameis (and also the Bucs GM).

Mystifying....

He's worked with Big Ben, Luck and Carson Palmer was OC and/or HC.  What would he want or do with Winston?

And what is going on in Cleveland that no one wants that job??
