Chuck Wagon
Perhaps I was not clear I'm operating under the premise that he is in no way involved and a victim of circumstance - so he would obviously go and talk to police and help out because he is innocent BUT if he was guilty of hiring someone to kill this chick, he wouldn't need to have a lot of up front cash because in the streets you can get that kinda job done without the upfront cash because he's going to make big money in the NFL and street thugs or even his friends would do it with the idea of getting a chunk of future cash... Was I more clear there? It truly is a moot point because the kid is innocent and hopefully a soon to be buffalo bill! There only appears to be one guy in here accusing La'el of being the next Rae Carruth and knocking off this girl, it's caused the thread to spiral for a few pages. Over 29 years of fanhood
Totally agree. I mean I know why, they didn't want to deal with the P.R mess, but geez! If he ends up being innocent and having a solid career, there will be a lot of second guessing from fans across the league.I belive they issued a letter that if he wasn't picked in round 1, he wouldn't sign and therefore would go back into next years draft. So don't waste ur pick, basically

BuffaloHokie13
I still would have tried to call his bluff on sitting out. So there's an issue with that that nobody is talking about. Per the CBA, if you draft a player and he doesn't sign he is eligible to be drafted in next year's draft by every team except for yours. Nobody wanted to take the chance on calling his bluff only to lose all chance at getting the right to him next year too. So if the Bills were to take a 7th round flyer on him and he decided to follow through and not sign, then the Bills would not be eligible to take him in 2016. It seems nobody was willing to take that risk. Edited May 5, 2015 by BuffaloHokie13

Miami is probably the favorite for that reason and they may already have some type of handshake in place. With that being said the "unsanctioned" aspect is interesting. The Bills circumvented his agents who, one would think, have a vested interest in him going to Miami. If Collins and his family like the Bills it may not matter. Doc
Sounds purely like Rodak's opinion. Which is like, well, you know. As for Collins, I'll bet he wasn't near her. We can speculate whether he hired/asked someone to do it, but until they catch the person and he/she talks and conclusively implicates Collins, the assumption is he's clear. VABills
The whole "no state income tax" is the most ridiculous argument. Do people who live in those states not realize State income tax is deductible on your Federal taxes so you net to zero? Ummmm.... I hope you pay someone to do your taxes. No it doesn't net to zero. It is a deduction not a credit. You will get the state tax as a deduction from your income but still pay taxes on your income minus that deduction. So, if you make 100k, pay 5% state tax, your taxable basis will 95k at federal level. If let's say for tax purposes you have a flat tax of 20% on the whole amount then instead of paying 20k in fed taxes you would only pay 19k. So for that 5k in state taxes you would in effect only pay 4k. Does that make sense or do I need DC Tom you explain every nuance and make you feel bad? WhitewalkerInPhilly
Yeah #Trollhak isn't really citing a reason other than "Really? The Bills?" Rex is definitely interested, otherwise I don't see him making the trip, and Collins wouldn't be at least considering it if he took a private meal with Rex and his family. It's far from a lock, and 31 other teams might be interested but Rex was first at the door.

It sounded like Collins wanted to be moved into the supplemental draft or just punt and go in next year. The agent said he wouldn't sign, which likely caused him to go undrafted and screwed up his chances of making millions next year. I don't imagine the family has known the agent for more than a few months. If they get the feeling the agent is trying to steer him to his buddy Tannebaum and caused him to not be drafted, forfeiting millions for a few years, it's just as likely the Collins make their own decision and this guy is down one client. It's more like 9% NY state tax and a net less of 5.75% of all the income, let's not forget the state income tax on homes owned being about 2.5% of their value versus about 1.25% in FL (less homesteading).
