NoSaint
Boobie knows Roman's system and is a valuable ST contributor. He'll be on the team this year. It's Bryce Brown, as many have stated, who's on very shaky ground. The flip side being the niners let him walk. Just because the guys were paired before doesn't mean he's a gimme

rafter
Common theme in both clips is Fred making things happen when we need him to. He made a mistake that time, but doesn't do it often. No one can ever question the heart. That's the reason for the longevity. Usually when a rb gets a paycheck taking the hits doesn't seem so fun

Haslett_Stomp
hate to post this, but this quote reminded me of a specific game. sadly http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap2000000093109/Fred-Jackson-s-second-fumble All RB's fumble. Fred was/is a dynamite overachiever for us for years. I think he should get a fair shake in TC. If he still has anything left to offer it would be great to see him ride off after a playoff victory @ home. I was at this game at Gillette. Spikes knocked out Fred with a questionable elbow to the head. Watch the video closely, Fred is lying motionless on the ground while others scramble for the ball. Rob's House
Question: How do you cut a player with dignity? WTF does that mean? Do you give him a dozen roses when the turk comes calling? fred has been and will be a very important part of the offense. 2 dozen roses. And an older bottle of wine. Freddie's Dead
Wow, the Fred haterz on this board are simply breathtaking. You guys have been throwing dirt on Fred's grave for 5 years now. He's outplayed both Marshawn Lynch and CJ Spiller when they were with the Bills. As What a Tuel pointed out, he led the team in first downs last year and had over 1000 all-purpose yards. So you go from that to cutting him, or you say he's only good for one more year. Fred's going to prove you all wrong one more time. But you'll be back next year saying to cut him again. Eventually, you'll be right, and then you'll say, "See, I told you so". Meanwhile the rest of us will remember Fred's last 5 years and look forward to his next 3-4 as a specialty back before retiring as a Bill. Dorkington
McCoy is the only sure thing in the backfield this off season.... FredEx, Brown, Boobie, and Karlos will be battling it out for two spots. I could see FredEx being one of the two, but I could also see him not. Because I like him and think he's awesome, I hope he steps up to the challenge. ALF
When its time for Fred to retire , the Bills can keep him as a RB coach , makes room on roster and cap space.
Thunderstealer
FJ will probably be a 5-8 touch per game guy this season and that should keep him healthy and effective. 1 more year. Watching Fred run is like watching fast water wash over smooth rock. If Fred was never on the Bills, Whaley would be searching for someone like him to play his limited roll. If you're looking for him come fall--he'll be in the endzone.
Buffalo Boy
Fred is an ALL TIMER as a Bill but the time has come. Whaley has to put on his "Big boy" pants, make the move and take the flak. This board will explode, the crying and whining will be tremendous.......and life will go on. This move is as much about Whaley demonstrating his GM acumen as it is about Fred. and I LOVE Fred!!!!! KDIGGZ
I just saw Fred at the casino last weekend. He looks like he's in great shape and he was killing it at the blackjack table if that's any indication. I wouldn't want to be a RB competing with Fred trying to make this team (Brown, Williams). Fred is going to bring it and prove the doubters wrong

eball
I don't believe the Bills are planning to cut Fred...they're just providing a lot of competition and paving the way for the future. Fred knows he'll have to prove himself worthy of a roster spot; the guy has never been handed anything. The chips will fall where they may. I thought we disproved this in another thread? Does a new thread mean we can rehash the same false equivalencies and baseless arguments? BillsFan-4-Ever
Is this still open? Fred is a valuable and shouldn't be going anywhere. wondering .... is there a will player X be cut for each position drafted? CB is this doom for Graham, Robey, McKelvin? WR is this doom for Woods, Harvin, Hogan, Goodwin, Easley? LB is this doom for P. Brown, Bradham? OG is this doom for Urbik, C. Williams, Cyril Richardson? TE is this doom for any of the 3 Gray, Clagg or Gray
Nanker
I don't know anything about dignity and how sharp it is, but you'd better be pretty darn careful if you every try to cut Freddie with anything.
Tipster19
The biggest hint of Brown's tenuous roster status was Rex saying he'll remember his name when he stops fumbling the ball. That said quite a bit to me.I couldn't agree more and wasn't too happy when we traded for him. Who gets cut?? Let's see, a classic career overachiever who is integrated into the locker room, franchise and community and was evened personally endorsed by the owner himself or a career back up that has earned a solid reputation as a fumbler that we traded, a what, a 4th rd pick?? Hmm, I have to think about that one for a minute. I don't think that Whaley would like to make this an issue, he should go along with the company on this one and just try and get some kind of compensation for Brown in a trade. A 2016 7th rd pick from somebody will do just fine and mark this one up under the "Oops" column. In Fred We Trust! Go Bills! vincec
Probably just send Fred a text that he's gone. Then have his stuff waiting for him in the lobby in a couple of drawstring bags. I think that would be the best way to handle things.
Rico
Has the time come? dezertbill
Brown probably won't be on the roster come September. Either cut or traded. We'll probably have four: McCoy Freddie Dixon Williams Felton FB That's a definite upgrade from last year.

BringBackFergy
I love Fred Jackson. He reminds me of an older Rob Riddick. Stands a bit upright but powers through people for extra yards. ProcessAccepted
Fred deserves another year. He has earned it and he still plays at a high enough level.
