I didn't watch it, but read that when he was diagnosed with Bipolar, he didn't accept it and went into a spiral. As one who also has Bipolar, unless you find the right partner/therapy/medication, it is nothing to play around with. I was standing on the deck of the Golden Gate Bridge, ready to jump. My therapist at the time played around with my medication. Thankfully I walked off and went to the Psych ER instead, got my meds straightened out, and reconnected with my now wife 4 months later.

Thank God.!

Ya I've had some hard times where I thought about it, never attempted but i had the mentality that i was going to 1 day , mainly due to substance abuse and being young, thinking I ruined my life forever.  AA and NA meetings helped alot and made me realize I'm not alone or special and many ppl have a similar story and got me out of that thinking and on the right track

It was. He was a very sick individual and I'm surprised at what he was able to accomplish.

I wish that the ending was a bit more descriptive of his current life but perhaps I'm a chronic malcontent lol.

I agree. based on the what they showed it still looks like he is living his life with his boys.

This part just blows my mind:

During the early stages of his NFL career, Manziel would call his agent, Erik Burkhardt, and tell him football wasn't fun anymore. Losing the love for the game obviously affected his study habits, because Manziel wasn't watching any film.

"Their GM's calling me going, 'He doesn't watch tape,'" Burkhardt said. "I'm like, 'Well he's gotta watch some tape.' He's like, 'EB, his iPad hours is 0.00.'"

Manziel confirmed he watched zero film: "Zero."

Yeah was kind of a cautionary, open-ended ending - after all his substance issues to have the last shot of him sitting there with his boys drinking a beer.  I did think he came of really well in the interview portions

He reminds me of a kid in my high school that just can pick up anything and was better than most anybody.  All state football, basketball, and baseball.

Partied all the time. Ended up playing d1 baseball. Didn't hardly see him practice.

Johnny football was just the best of the athletes like that so it took him to really high levels.

Seriously. His whole persona was basically a ruse. How the Browns didn't have all the diligence on him was shocking.

My wife helped to stabilize me, and my new therapist agreed to try a medication I wanted to take back in California. I've been on that medication for 8 years. That and my wife's help helped to stabilize me greatly.

Yeah it's hard to see how an NFL franchise cannot do at least a little homework on someone, but it is the Browns after all...

Manziel believed the hype about himself and thought everything would come easy like it had his whole life. Seems like he finally has realized his mistakes and if he uses them to grow as a person and as a man then I commend him for it.

He was the superior athlete on the field his entire life and was able to dominate the competition without any work or study habits.

Once his rude awakening in the NFL had occurred and he realized he could never be successful without work and dedication he simply checked out.

I won’t comment on his mental state for which I know nothing about, but it seems to me this dude was let down by those around him from a young age, he should have been taught the value of hard work, but instead it seems his upbringing consisted of coaches, agents, friends and family going along for the ride.

I very rarely wish ill on people, but I confess that I rooted for Manziel to fail in the NFL.  The stories of Johnny's partying, laziness, greed, and so forth made me dislike the guy.  There are so many good kids doing things right who deserve success.  I wanted them to succeed instead of him.

Now I only wish him well.  I hope he gets the help he needs and has the strength to follow a healthier, happier path.

Same here. Though I liked his bravado, and him doing the money sign when drafted ha ha. But, when you do all that, you've got to deliver - and that includes preparation. Crazy that a NFL QB can watch zero film! I mean, I understand doing it half-ass or not putting your all into it, but not doing it at all?? How can that even be possible?

Yeah really enjoyed it.  I love the "UNTOLD" series in general.  For those who don't know, its an excellent series are based on sports similar to like the 30for30 series by ESPN.  Each one though is a individual mini-doc, so when you click on one it doesn't show it as in there are other episodes.  So just search for UNTOLD on netflix to try and find the others.

Jake Paul one came out just before Manziels did too and that was interesting watch.  My favorites were the two part one on Manti Teo and then the one on the minor league hockey team owned by the mafia (which is probably my favorite).  But its a fantastic series and I think there are probably at least 10 now

Yeah I think a lot of people are not understanding to just how serious it can be.  Just a few days before the Manziel doc came out, a young neighbor of mine committed suicide who was in his early 20's.  He had just been diagnosed in the previous weeks as bi-polar and the week leading up to it his roommates said he was acting really unusual and referenced hearing voices a lot.  Poor kid used zip ties to suffocate himself.

Im happy to hear that you have found effective ways now to manage it and congrats on finding your wife after coming out of a dark place, that sounds like divine intervention.  My wifes Aunt battles it herself, but I have never seen an episode because she has not had any episodes in the time I have known my wife thanks to a good medication regimen.  But she told me there were episodes where she was high up somewhere convinced she could fly and had to be carefully talked down in those moments, but those were also moments where she wasn't taking medication and a long time ago.

When I was standing on the deck of the Golden Gate Bridge, I had been talking to a close friend. I decided after going to work that morning I was going to end my life and messaged her to tell her, so she could watch after my daughter. We were in constant contact all day. When she didn't hear from me after a while, she called me. I just so happened to be standing on the bridge. She simply said, "Just go to the psych ER one more time. If it doesn't work, you have my permission to kill yourself". That sounded reasonable to me, and that's what got me into the ER. So yes. It was divine intervention.

It should let people know you can’t exclusively Youtube scout and complain if we don’t draft the player you wanted.

or complain they do draft that player ( see Josh Allen )
