Why?

It's run down and just not safe to walk around at night. When I drove Uber, I gave a ride to a couple from New Jersey staying at Seneca Niagara Casino to the closest liquor store. Let's just say it didn't leave the most favorable impression, but it did leave an impression.

Oh man one block away from the casino in any direction is so dicey. But honestly people from new jersey have absolutely nothing to talk about I been to their casinos -- its worse.

I just left buffalo -- flew back to TN where ive lived for the past 15 years earlier today.

It was my first time back in buffalo (niagara falls) in 5 years. I was there to visit my parents for their 50th anniversary.

Unfortunately niagara falls is worse than before every time i come back, its sad.

East Aurora is good...Hamburg is also a good choice.

My last few trips, I’ve stayed at the Comfort Inn in Hamburg and it’s been perfect and affordable. Less than 10 minutes to the stadium. About 20 minutes from the Bar Bill in EA. Great location, clean rooms, friendly staff, free breakfast.

Agreed you don’t want to F around up there beyond the park and the casino.

Well that’s the thing - that’s a perfectly good idea driving in. If the OP is flying in he could stay at one of the multiple hotels by the airport too, get an uber or rent a car and go to the village and just walk around, and just drive to the game. Homeboy didn’t really give us enough details.

“Homeboy” here to mention that I’m flying in…not really sure how that’s a pertinent detail to the question but I did also mention that I’d have a car so all areas are in play.

Why?

I live in Niagara Falls. Don't stay here. There is nothing to do, and it's a run-down ***** hole.

When we go out, we go to Lewiston or Buffalo.

Stay in Buffalo ... by all means drive in to see the Falls, but don't stay here

Thanks. That was my suspicion too. NF just seems super touristy / shady when I’ve been there previously. It’s a fun day trip but given it’s a short drive to Buffalo that’s my plan. Leaning towards Allentown / DT Buffalo.

I must say, I didn't particularly notice anything too bad about Niagara Falls when we went. However, I do remember each person/group catching the bus got progressively higher the further away we got from Buffalo and closer to Niagara Falls.

Pleasant enough bus ride out of the city and back though.

Hampton inn, Galeria Mall. 20 Minute drive to the game (Go Early).  When you get there, find a good mom and pop area where the food smells good and just throw some cash at them. Eat and Drink before you go in the stadium because you will get more fun out of it meeting new people and you will get more food and drinks out of it.

This is what my family does when they come from out of town. 120 a night. its worth it. Lots of Food choices at the mall too

If you want places in Buffalo to stay in, the best neighborhood is Elmwood Village, which is Elmwood Ave from Bryant St up to the 198 parkway. Lots of restaurants and shoppes. I think the AGK art gallery renovation should be done by then.

Next best is Allentown which is Allen St from Franklin St to Wadsworth.

Chippewa St from Main to Elmwood is the night club district.

Other things and places to see are Canalside downtown, along with the naval warship and submarine you can tour.

Buffalo Riverworks located in what they call Silo City, a collection of old grain elevators being turned into an arts and nightlife district.

The Sabres might be playing that weekend. Might be worth seeing a game.

And speaking of Niagara Falls, if you go, stay on the Canadian side. It's a lot nicer with way more to do, and a better view of the falls. I don't know what the current requirements are for crossing the border but bring your passport and you'll be good.

PM me for details.

The 27-year-old running back now plays for the Seattle Seahawks, but he was drafted in 2007 by the Buffalo Bills in the first round. When he was drafted, Lynch didn’t know that Buffalo wasn’t part of New York City.

“I didn’t know what to expect, I just knew I was going to New York,” Lynch told E:60. “I thought I was gonna be out there with Jay-Z, and then when I finally landed in Buffalo… [there was] slush on the ground. It had just finished snowing. I didn’t [know anything about snow].”

As the largest city in the United States, it’s easy for people who don’t live in New York to get confused over the different boroughs and suburbs, but Buffalo isn’t anywhere close to the city. In fact, they are about 370 miles apart.

I would drop by Bailey and Minnesota Ave. I'm sure it would be a welcoming experience.

But seriously, just avoid the East Side. Buffalo is not nearly as rough as advertised

I thought it was Genesee and Bissell? did the welcome parties on the corners move?

It's definitely not nice.

Like many tourist areas, once you get off the beaten path you risk getting beaten.  ... Not that bad like Baltimore, but it simply isn't nice.

I am confused. this topic has to do with buffalo locations and people coming intown from out of town.   What does any of this have to do with OP? and the question he asked?

Niagara Falls Canada is where I'd stay.  I usually stay at one of the Mariott brand hotels overlooking the Falls.  Second place would be Lewiston.

P.S.  Besides not knowing where Buffalo was, Lynch also seemed to be lost on that fact that DUI, hit-and-run, concealed carry without a permit, and assault are illegal.

From the varied responses in this thread from people who know the area, you can see its not an easy decision & every place has pros & cons.
I would probably pick some hotel downtown, close to restaurants & you dont really have to worry about rifraff as police are everywhere in the "Entertainment District".

You could probably take a shuttle to the stadium or meet up with someone or some tailgating group as well.

The alternative idea would be to get like an Air BNB in some quaint village home in East Aurora or Hamburg, Orchard Park & avoid the city of Buffalo altogether.

You'll be fine with either choice i imagine & as long as you get to the game & have a good time, you'll be good to go regardless.

Its too bad its such a difficult choice tho. And unfortunate our new stadium after decades of a community discussing it, with billions designated for a new stadium, we made next to no attempt to make a more attractive game day experience for fans like yourself. But so go the limits of small town thinking i guess lol. Good luck with ur decision & hope u have fun!

How there isn't a good hotel near the stadium (or really anything of interest for miles) is insane. Good thing there's a bunch of dirt lots that look like crap 355 days per year and on the other days are filled with idiots jumping off of school buses.

Most of NYC is closer to NJ than it is rest of NY state.
