JerseyBills
I've always felt this way, watching a Bills game in Orchard Park just hits different. The view on TV is really special imo. Is it just me? I was going through all the guys top plays of the season and there is just something different about the current stadium compared to the rest of the league. Like when they pan out to the crowd it just looks amazing, the only stadium that compares is Arrowhead. Idk the proper words to describe it, so don't bash me, or maybe it's just cause I'm a Bills fan but I hope the new stadium doesn't take this aspect away. It's just so visually pleasing watching a Bills home game Anyone agree? It's just a different feeling visually watching the Bills at home, can't quite put my finger on it Edited April 18, 2023 by JerseyBills 4 1 1
BillnutinHouston
The colors won't change, but maybe the relatively steeper pitch of the first level will appear on camera as fewer rows of fans, i.e, fewer rows per inch of screen?

Ya , that's kinda what worries me. For example, Metlife , home of Jets/Gmen gives me the opposite feeling. I hate the way the fans are constructed. Though I've been to many games there, and it's pretty good visually in person, Don't like it on TV

SCBills
I agree, and it probably has something to do with the color scheme (even non-Bills fan typically admit we have great colors and some of the best jerseys in the NFL). Arrowhead's ambiance is iconic, but Buffalo is in the next tier of aesthetically pleasing football presentation.

Fleezoid
I believe the sidelines in other stadiums have more area where the fans are set back a bit. The sidelines in Buffalo look more compressed where fans are closer to the playing field. I have no data on this, just what I've observed. Perhaps it shows a better fan experience on TV. SoCal Deek
I almost posted a screenshot on Saturday morning. The Tottenham stadium was on USA Network. If the new Bills stadium looks anywhere near as nice as that one does on television you’ll be just fine.

Breakout Squad
I remember John Murphy going off about pre game about the Jets stadium having the press boxes a mile from the field. I agree the view now is perfect. I can’t remember what game it was I watched last year but the camera was always at an exaggerated angle and far away. Trust me….All of the sight and lighting lines will be studied, especially those important to television. The modern NFL is basically a big TV show after all. 1

Seattle, Minnesota, and Arizona are excellent. Giants/Jets stadium is ok. Very sterile feeling. I was underwhelmed by Denver's and Jacksonville's stadiums. Green Bay is awful except for the history. Chicago is terrible. Now that I am back in the Mid-West I will start to make it to some stadiums that I have not visited since they opened. I've been to the old stadiums in Cinci, Cleve, Pitt, Detroit, and Indy. Now all new experiences.

At OP, fans look like they could reach out a give the players shoulder massages at the end zone corners. Saw the Jags/Chargers game at Sofi last season. Love the amenities and large concourses. Restrooms were close by and super easy to get to. But prefer the game experience at Orchard Park by a lot. BillsNutHawaii
I love our current stadium !! Something about the spacing, I just can’t put my finger on it, makes it feel like the fans are practically in the game - to a certain degree. I’m going to miss it a lot !

It's more important that players feel free to make a play. A receiver diving all out for a pass diagonally through the end zone corner has to be mindful of the wall and curl up right away. It could actually be very dangerous, knock on wood, so far we've been fortunate. But I've seen some scary plays in those corners.

This is correct. Buffalo has been voted best sightlines routinely as there is a good view all over and the fans are on top of the field in a sense. Many newer stadiums like Metlife took the crowded on top feel away for much larger longer spacious environments. I have read that its not as loud anymore at Metlife because it is so much spacious and giant/jet fans do not like that.

Rich Stadium has good sight lines because it is a football-only facility, built into the ground without a roof, meaning that the first row can be closer to the field (no track, etc) and the grandstands are generally shallower without the need to be as vertical as in an above ground roofed structure.

I’m assuming it’ll have to be steeper. When you build up out of the ground the entire facility needs to be more vertical to both reduce the footprint and stack the structure. That’ll help for those who have trouble seeing over the heads of fans who are standing in front of them.

Some newer stadiums have managed to keep this like Seattle while others Dallas/NYG-Jets/LA to a lesser extent are beautiful coliseums or just big and the fans are really spread out by design. All of the AFC North stadiums have always had an intimidating feel on TV with how they look whereas the AFC South minus TEN does not have that impact at all. IND stadium is beautiful, but the Dome actually felt more intense IMO.

IND stadium is beautiful, but the Dome actually felt more intense IMO. It actually comes down to Code requirements for row spacing. If the rows are closer together (less deep) the Code requires that the exit aisles also be more closely spaced. If the rows are deep enough that people can pass by without you having to stand up then the aisles can be much farther apart. That’s called ‘continental seating’, and it’s what you see in modern movie theaters. It seems trivial but it makes a huge difference in seating capacity. For example, the old aluminum bench style seats in the original Rich Stadium were extremely efficient (no armrests) so they could fit many more seats per row. The same was true in all older stadiums dating back to the turn of the last century. The Orchard Park capacity naturally went way down when they installed new individual bucket seats. I’m guessing the new stadium will be ALL individual seats.
