Unless there’s that injury bug. I’m not advocating either take snaps from the starting core. TD Jesus seen the field on occasion last season, made some, dropped some. I’d rather have the young guy, good thing I’m not in on those decisions though!

Im not Kumerow campaign guy by any means, I just want us to field the best team possible.  So, who ever gets that WR spot Hodgins is fighting for just needs to be reliable on ST because that is their role on the team they are being kept for.  Thats all I am saying, I hope its Hodgins too.

Agreed.  Motor looked great, moss back on track and cook smooth.

Really hoping we can stash Blackshear on the PS.  His skill set can be useful if given the opportunity.  Sucks for him that our RB room is so talented.

It's a deep squad this year.

All positions are deep, other teams are gonna get rich off the Bills roster cuts.

Yes, you like to point this out but what you dont recognize is we played a hobbled no YAC Beasley with broken ribs over him.  We went to playoffs with Beasley with broken leg and Diggs with a torn oblique.  Need competent backups just like you need a competent backup QB.  They may not play but they can play during bad situations when something happens.  Kumerow is just another guy on the ST's unit.  He is nothing special.  So if we can keep a better backup WR over him and replace him with another jag then that's what they should do.

Yet, they did NOT use the backup in McKenzie despite all that.

Again, neither Hodgins or Kumerow will sniff the field this year as a WR.  To put it a better way, if either of them has to play a significant role we are in trouble and hunting for WR help on the FA market and trade market.

We extended Gilliam because he’s done a good job.

You would rather have a back up tackle as our 3rd TE when he runs a 5.12 - 40 yard dash?

LOL if you are keeping score Doyle has as many career TD receptions as Gilliam does.

And yes I would rather have an extra OL as the third TE.  And do did Daboll and McD last year.  Even Doyle is a better in-line blocker than Gilliam is.

I like the philosopy.

Let em run the ball with 4 backs rather than have Josh carry it on a called run.

He's proven he's the *****in man but it's time to have the backs do the heavy lifting between the tackles.

Can we pitch in and put this up on a billboard near Dorsey’s  house?

Just to be safe!

He had 5 tackles last year. Do you really think he is so special and that some other guy can't make 5 ST tackles in 17 games?

There is the other popular misunderstanding of ST contributions.  Only one guy will make the tackle...its NOT about how many tackles you get, its about how well you play your role to force the returner into a tackle and contain the return.  Literally closing off the lanes is substantially more important than who gets the credit for the tackle.  A tackle can happen anywhere on the field...on a 5 yard return or a 50 yard return.  What matters most is not allowing the runner the space to make the return and force him into the coverage for as short of a gain as possible.

Except he isn't good at any of them.  I'd rather Doyle be your third TE, I see no reason to ever have a FB and if needed you line up Sweeney or Moss at FB, and he never will line up at RB.  A capable WR is going to be cut to keep Gilliam on the team.

Not sure how you can say he "isnt good at any of them" meanwhile we just extended him. Luckily we havent had to use him a bunch except for goal line scenarios and his blocking has been decent. The thing I think you are missing is having Gilliam suit up allows you to add the additional linemen like Doyle last year to lineup as "extra tight end." But having Gilliam allows you to run a goal line FB, and not need to suit up 3-4 RB's because he can fill in if absolutely needed... unless you think Doyle can be RB3 due to injury. Having a versatile piece like Gilliam is why we could get away with only dressing 1 TE last year. Having him fill 3+ positions allow you the flexibility of sitting or dressing up extra positions as needed for the matchups.

Again our team also values special teams and he ALSO fills that role which other guys like Doyle or Duke Johnson wont fill

Yuuuup.  Just hoping the Warlock can pull a couple draft picks out of the hat instead of just outright losing them
