Week 6 — Other Games

Wow, there are two really compelling matchups this week, and a third to keep an eye on:

Chargers at Ravens:  Who do we root for as Bills fans?

Cardinals at Browns:  Certainly we want the Cards to continue their streak here

Combined records of those four teams:  16-4

Cowboys at Pats***:  Would love to see Dallas drop them to 2-4

Also, the Fish are only a 3-pt favorite over the Jags in London…Jacksonville may be in full mutiny mode, but it would be hilarious to see them break their skid against Miami.

Discuss…

I think we root for the Chargers over the Dirty Birds.  AFC West will cause the Chargers to drop some games down the road.  Would love to see the Browns pick up another loss.  Yes, Cowgirls should get the Patsies.  Fish defense is a hot mess, we hung 35 on them with a not great game from Josh.

Chargers - Ravens - I hope the Chargers win. If the Bills play these teams in the playoffs I would rather the Bills play Baltimore in OP as the Ravens do have a solid homefield advantage. The Chargers don't have one as they have about 10 fans total in LA. The Bills fans would takeover that stadium so it would feel like a home game anyway.

Cards over Browns and Cowboys over the Pats obviously. The AFC East is so weak that I actually think the Bills could officially clinch the division sometime in Nov if they handle their business.

Rooting for Baltimore because one of these weeks their injuries are going to cause them to drop a game they should otherwise win. The Chargers look more machine like to me at this stage so I am more keen for them to get their second loss. Baltimore is going to win 10-12 games and be a playoff team but I don't see them as a threat for the #1 seed. I do with LAC.

Their offense looks dominant with Herbert but their D just got torched for 42 points. Allen and Bills should be able to move the ball on them.

I think their defensive vulnerability is against power football. While our run game is better I'm not yet sold that it is good enough to ram it down their throats. If the Bills and Chargers played tomorrow I think it would be a high scoring shootout. I'd rather avoid them until the playoffs and then have home field when we do. Which means we need them to drop a game or two.

Chargers, only because it puts more dirt on Chiefs

Cardinals, not in AFC

Cowboys v Pats, despise them both but again I root against AFC teams

I don't think it matters.  Both teams have been winning close games in ways that are not sustainable and will end up coming back to earth a little bit.

Ravens beat the Chiefs being down 11 in the 4th quarter...kick an NFL record FG to beat the Lions at the gun,  come back down 16 in the 4th Q against the Colts and win in OT cause the Colts kicker misses a very makeable FG at the end of the 4th Q...those are not sustainable ways to win in the NFL over a 17 game season.

Chargers not quite as implausible, but losing in the 4th quarter to WFT, Chiefs, and Browns...

I guess what I am saying is that neither of those teams has been dominating and bitchslapping opponents the way the Bills have.  So why worry?

I have to pull for Baltimore in this one. Agree with the idea that they really aren't a threat for the 1 seed and injuries will hold them back. Chargers have been a SOLID team for years that was held back in part to injuries and bad coaching. Seems to have been addressed.

Obviously have to go for the Cards and (gag) Cowgals. Would love to see Jacksonville pound Miami. Now if only the WFT could upset the Chiefs as well. I think that could be a sneaky good game as WFT can move the ball on the KC defense. Gonna be a shootout.

Been a fantastic season for redzone, almost overwhemling at times with all the finishes happening at once.

They need to stagger the start times for the early games like they do for the later ones...no reason to have 9 games starting at 1pm

Anything can happen but I would be shocked if KC loses this week. After getting embarrassed by the Bills at home on national tv they will be out for blood this Sunday.

Oh I would too. But it the same time I could see KC's season just unraveling as well. If this is the week that DLine of WFT shows up it could be really close.

This will be the first Sunday this season I'll really be able to just kick back with the Red Zone channel on and enjoy the afternoon.  I think I'm pulling for the Ravens for reasons stated above...they are the more banged up team and I think they'll get dinged a few times going forward...they still have yet to play a division game and none of those AFCN teams are an easy out.  The AFCW suddenly looks much weaker than it did even two weeks ago...the Chargers have a couple of tough games left but they are a legitimate threat to only lose one or two more games themselves.  Best to have them absorb L #2 this weekend.

I've been watching the LAC closely this season.  They have 2 major weaknesses:

1) Their run D is below average.  You can run on them all day long.

2) Their kicker doesn't belong in the NFL.  The guy has missed 4 extra points & can't be relied on.  As a result their coach, Staley, is going for it on 4th down instead of kicking any FGs that are not chip shots.  So far Herbert has been bailing him out, but that can't continue the whole season.  Eventually his kicker is going to cost him a game or 2.  Their only loss, by 3 points to the Cowboys, Vizcaino missed a 44 yard field goal at the end of the 1st half.

You raise a great point. I really like Staley and think he’s an up-and-comer, but he has been getting praise heaped upon him for being so aggressive, and a good part of that is likely the kicking situation you reference. I agree, it could come back to bite them.

I am still rooting for the Chargers because I want no chance of KC winning that division. I don't care what anyone says they are still the team that worries me the most in the playoffs. Force them to be a wildcard, or if the stars align knock them out of the playoffs entirely.

I'd prefer the Chargers over Baltimore but honestly believe LAC is the bigger threat to home field given both teams schedules.

Baltimore still has all 6 games to play in the division, plus matchups against GB and the Rams. LAC's schedule by comparison looks relatively easy, with a KC rematch arguably the toughest remaining game.

So, go Ravens

Just looked at the lines...the Chargers/Ravens and Cards/Browns are both essentially pick'ems.  Both home teams are -3.

Should be a fun Sunday, leading up to our party on Monday night.

Sensing an awful lot of over-cockiness around here. I’m not sure though, as we’ve never encountered this level of euphoria around here..

juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusss sayin’….. One stunning upset and we’ll be back to tearing each other’s throats out.

As a Buffalonian living in San Diego, I hate the Spanos family with a passion, so it's hard to root for them.  I don't like Baltimore either, but I think their injuries will eventually catch up to them, so I don't mind seeing them take this game against the Chargers.  Would also like to see Herbert lay an egg, so the media can pump the brakes on their ridiculous ballwashing of the kid for one week.

And truth be told, I'm enjoying this Lamar Jackson as a passer redemption story this season.  Like to see him stick it in the face of all the haters out there.

I think eball is referencing the Monday Night Football theme song (i.e., "a Monday night party!"), not that Monday night will be a cakewalk party over the Titans.

Not really. This team is just flat out better and deeper than any other team in the NFL at this point. No other team is trouncing opponents by double digits in their last 11 wins other than the Bills, no other team has had 14 consecutive leads at halftime, no other team has an all time NFL record and counting streak of games with at least 20 first downs, no other team has shut out 2 opponents in their first 4 games...the list goes on and on.

It's not cocky if it's true.
