Kenosha2Buffalo
It was a good trade for both teams. Vikings got a ton of value for him.. win / win situation for both teams. Diggs impact on the offense can not be ignored.

Having watched him for 9 games in a Bills uniform I'm just going to assume that was a Kirk Cousins problem. Any QB not looking his way 10 times a game is a fool. The Vikings miss him more than we miss the picks we used to get him... Go Bills!!!

At WR Diggs, Brown and Mac are all fast players. Davis adds size and Beasley is a great slot player and Roberts is there for the return game. TE is a position where it is hard to get speed. A good break away speed RB is probably the only place they can add some speed but I do like what this team has at RB so I don't see the really demanding need there. It would be a nice add for 2021 Travis Etienne would look nice in this offense but not sure if RB is even on the board with Singletary and Moss. Playmaking TE would be a huge bonus. Einstein's Dog
I'm pleasantly surprised the Bills have worked him in so much, they use this asset. The FO deserves credit for the change in offensive philosophy. Often times WRs that change teams don't fare so well - like OBJ in Cleveland, or anyone in Baltimore now. On a second note, I think now with the shown usage Diggs can accept a game with less targets. When Seattle played AZ, D Metcalf had a very quiet game because they put a stud to cover him and it was Lockett that went nuts.

Playmaking TE would be a huge bonus. I think a late round pick at RB that can add some speed would make sense but I can't see this team spending another high draft choice at the position. After this year Singletary has two more cost controlled seasons and Moss has 3, literally no need to invest high capital in that position when you have a pair of good young backs. TE is hard, I don't know if they have soured on Knox or not. Kroft is a high end backup, Lee Smith a specialist who isn't that great and Sweeney is a replaceable backup caliber player. I could easily see this team spending a high pick at TE but even high draft choices don't really add "speed" to the offense. So if you look at the WR corp as balanced with a blend of speed and size and the TE position isn't a "burner" position the only place where you can add some speed is a third RB but given how they like to have the third RB be a ST player I think you need to find a speed back that can play ST. Overall I would say that my off-season priority would be to re-sign D.Williams, Ty and Mongo and get an upgrade at TE either high up in the draft or via free agency (Cut the fat on defense and spend most of your cap dollars on the offense.) Then on defense resign Milano to a one year prove it deal and use most of your draft picks on the defense to restock it as best as possible. Hopefully you can make some hits on that side of the ball in the draft to repair the foundation a bit.

Jefferson is on pace for a better season.....as just a rookie....... than Diggs ever had in Minnesota. Diggs is very good.........but the above should put in perspective how well the Vikings gotta' feel about their end of the deal. Josh Allen is the new variable in the Diggs equation......and he has been better than Cousins ever was IMO.......yet I actually think Diggs was better last year..........he was more consistent catching the ball and made more big plays despite worse QB play, IMO. There is actually room for Diggs to improve and hopefully we see that in the second half too.

It is no slight on the guys who were here immediately before him (Brown and Beasley have been awesome too, and delivered as well as we could have hoped), but the Bills have rarely been able to bring in a guy of Diggs stature...and he is a great team guy, a leader. Guys want to play with him, and for him, in some way. He not only makes Allen a better QB, but a better leader, because he knows he has someone who he can deliver with. He makes Daboll a better OC...this was a fantastic trade. I skoff at the notion that the Bills paid "too much" for him. Give me the closest thing to a sure thing, at a position that has perenially held this team back, over 3 scratch off lottery tickets any day. It was the right time to make a move for a guy like him. As above, hopefully Davis or another young receiver can take over. Edited November 10, 2020 by jeremy2020
Hampton Josh fan
Diggs makes everyone better. Brown, Davis, Beasley by commanding extra attention, and Josh by being a reliable, clutch receiver who will get open on big downs. He also is a steadying influence on our entire offensive unit. My friend from Minnesota, says Vikings fans knew how devastating his departure was. Beane was so prophetic in his big gamble sending valuable draft choices to get Diggs. It turned the balance of power in the Bills favor.

Billsfan1972
What we haven't seen yet is the deep ball. Wasn't Diggs supposed to catch more long balls. In looking at his stats he already has matched his 2019 #'s of 63 catches, but averaging 12.9 vs. 17.9 last year. Seeing 10 targets a game, which matches 2018, where he averaged only 10 yd/rec. All trnding well & he should be happy....

thenorthremembers
The last two weeks Diggs has shown the catch and run ability that the offense really needs. Thats something the offense has sorely missed, and something Beane said the Bills were going to go after. My hope is the contract doesnt become an issue, but he is obviously better than the 16th best wideout in the league.

That was just a $3.3M raise for THIS season for accepting the trade. He will be wanting......and likely getting a whole bunch of new and additionally guaranteed money on a new deal this winter.........or it will be a problem and/or a holdout. The funny thing is that there were fans that thought he was actually going to play on that old deal........that bargain contract didn't even survive the summer!
