This is 2 teamsĀ now thatā€™s given up on him. I wanted him to succeed but i think itā€™s over for him. Word is heā€™s having a horrible camp and that Tua is beating him in competition for the number 2 roleĀ

Ā

So..........if I got it right, Rosen is owed almost $5 M guaranteed salary - $2.1M this year, $2.9M next year

That's in addition to the roster bonus 'Zona is still nomming down

Ā

If he's having a horrible camp, just who do the Dolphins think are gonna pony up and trade to take on that $5M guaranteed?

If you were the Miami FO and wanted to maximize the value of your soon to be castoff, would you let word out he was having a poor camp or a good camp? Ā Might get you an extra sack of footballs for him. Ā šŸ˜

Ā

No one is going to trade a thing, even a used sack of footballs, for a guy with $5M guaranteed unless they're convinced he's got value

I don't get the narrative out there that he wasn't given a fair opportunity to succeed.

Ā

He was put onto two teams that had very little QB competition and couldn't hold the job with either team.Ā

Ā

Last year, Miami got instantly better with Fitz as QB and became respectable.Ā  He was really bad with them.

Ā

He stinks, why is that so hard for people to say?

Because far better players had far worse rookie seasons that he did. Both the Cardinals and the Fins were/areĀ dumspter fires. The fact that the team got better under Fitzpatrick should not be evidence against Rosen. Everyone should expect that. Fitz is a veteran and a very good football player who is one of a kind in his ability to be fantastic over just a long enough period of time to convince a team that he might be the answer to their question.

In all my years of watching football, I don't think I've seen a high draft pick QB put in a worse situation than Rosen. That doesn't mean he even deserves to be a backup in this league, but it is what it is. Who dumps their 10th overall pick after 1 season?

Not a Rosen fan but he's gotten a raw deal.Ā  Two terrible teams with two terrible O-lines.Ā

Ā

Maybe hot tub boy got what he deserved ;)

Ā

Karma has a funny way of biting you in the ass ;)

Ā

Funny that two different teams felt that drafting another first round QB was a better answer than putting time into him.

Anyone still wish Bills had taken the other Josh?

Not anymore.Ā  But I admit the mistake.Ā

Ā

I viewed him as the smartest qb in the room, which is what I want.Ā  I saw him as a petulant Arron Rodgers type.Ā  But since his family is rich, (just like Johnny Manziel), maybe there's a lesson there.

Obligatory post about belicheatĀ signing right josh on the cheap and turning him into the next Brady, submit replyĀ

Ā

I guess nothing is impossible but starting out as 4th on their depth chart could land him on the practice squad.Ā

Cards gave up the 10th overall for him.
edit:Ā Phins a 2ndĀ rounder. Ā
Ā

Both teams drafted a qb first round the year after acquiring him. Ā

Ā

Funny how both teams had the beers goggles on for him!Ā

Well, his rookie year in AZ, he played behind the worst O-line in the league, after which he was dumped as part of a re-build (a fairly experimental re-build, at that). Then, in Miami, he was literally positioned to fail. The Miami FO was so egregiously tanking that the NFL competition committee got involved. And, needless to say, there are plenty of Bills fans who wanted him to be drafted over Allen, and they hate to be proven wrong.

Ā

Of course, none of this means he doesn't stink.

Ā

Yet the second Fitzpatrick came in for Rosen, it looked like a different offense. How do you explain that?

I agree but it also feels like they're not satisfied with Barkley as the backup. There are reports that Davis Webb may have won the competition. I see Rosen as an upgrade on either of them.

I think heā€™ll bounce around as a backup or a fringe starter for teams that desperate for a QB.Ā

You know what, I would put a claim in. I like him as a backup more than Barkley, and he has upside. Why not?

Ā

I said this last year when AZ wanted to move him.

Ā

I wanted no part of Josh Rosen as a starter in the draft. I'd happily take him as a backup.

Ā

Buffalo may be his best bet to stabilize his NFL career. With JA in control he can be backup #1, but with JA's playing style he would never know when he would be called upon. He would have to remain mentally sharp. Rosen is no dummy, but I don't think he has the heart/moxy to be a day 1 starter, but he is too bright/ proud to bomb out. He also still has a chance to play against Darnold and resurrect his career here, if he wants it.

Ā

I'd love to bring him into the QB room, now that JA has established himself as QB#1.

That way Josh can introduce himself. "Hello I'm mistake number 3."

I think for the backup QB you have to pay some attention to the dynamics of the room.Ā  I don't see Josh Rosen as having the right stuff to be a good backup.

Right Hapless. Fitz is the best back up for anyone want on any team.Ā

Ā

Peterman still in NFLĀ so anything can happen to Rosen for NFL. To be honest.

Ā

I could be wrong, but I think that Peterman is a pretty humble nice guy, super-smart in the QB room without coming across as cocky or know-it-all

I think the only time that's true for Rosen is when he's being drinking Diffenbachia Tea
