I agree.  I think Gronk was the same type of scumbag really.  Rudolphs head was definitely contacted.  There are plenty of videos in this thread that clearly show it.

I didn't see all the angles but I'll accept that it did.  But itt did very little damage since Rudolph seemed completely unfazed by it and wasn't mentioned as being injured.

He is reportedly going to be fined. But Garrett actually started it by hitting him late with 14 seconds to go in a game that wasn’t in question, and then laying on him and not getting up. Rudolph escalated it, but didn’t start it out of the blue.

Late hit was stupid. Rudolph grabbing his helmet was stupid. Garrett swinging his helmet was really, really stupid.

For what?....

Attempting to pull off Garrett’s helmet after being late hit/driven into the ground on a throwaway play at the end of the game?

You think that warrants a suspension?   That’s an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for sure.... maybe a fine if you’d like.  Suspension though....

You sound like the NBA and how they hand out suspensions.

Because he provoked Garrett. You can't try to pull someones helmet off as it makes them more vulnerable which is what this is all about. Don't ignore that he did tried to pull his helmet off.

What happened after is a separate thing more akin to assault.

Yes different levels of stupidity

Yikes bro you serious, one or two games lol

For reference, the following plays resulted in suspensions of exactly zero games-

What the heck are you talking about.  Gronk got a game suspension, Beckham got a game suspension.

I am not sure what your point was supposed to be, but to show those 4 plays with multiple suspensions and then comment zero games suspended makes no sense.

I think you're underestimating what adrenaline can do.

Rudolph shouldn’t get anything.  He got his helmet ripped of and used against him as a weapon.

The video did show him pulling on the helmet.  Does not give a reason to be beat with a helmet but should have been at least fined.

Wow, this looked comparably bad. Preseason plus one game ? Garrett was on national TV, but precedent shows the suspension should be less. They both should be worth close to what Garret received, but this inconsistency will be brought up by union.

As I said in the other thread, DeCastro was definitely a fat kid growing up because that's classic fat kid stuff right there.

And Rudolph was that typical small yiper that chirped and chirped and let others handle the fight

Yo you are correct 100%, I was going off memory...Gronkowski and Beckham both got 1 game suspensions. Upheld by league too, and don't know why I didn't remember that.

I don't think the league cares.  2013 I believe was before some of the current emphasis on avoiding head to head hits - as I understand it new rules were implemented in 2018.

So the league will say "this was before the increased emphasis on avoiding helmet to helmet hits, the standards have changed"

The other issue is this involved the QB, who gets his own special protections vs. an OL or DL.  Not saying it's right, it is what it is though.

Just because some people think rudolph instigated the helmet smash to head doesnt mean he should get suspended a game,  since that happens every week in the nfl, players instigating fights for penalties and none get suspended

True. Fights are going to happen in football generally. I think the difference is when you try to pull a helmet off a player as you try to make that player more vulnerable. that's my logic anyway.

Oh my sweet summer child. Watch the video again for me and take a screen shot at 1:43. Thanks.

My apologies, I should have said starting at 1:43. The first pic is at 1:46, Garrett is on the bottom with his hands wrapped around Rudolph’s back with Rudolph’s body clearly on top of Garrett’s (minus Rudolph’s head and  right wrist).

The second is at 1:48, both players on are their sides, but Rudolph is up higher. Rudolph’s hand is on the back of Garrett’s helmet and Garrett’s arms are out of sight in the picture.

The third is at 1:49, Rudolph has Garrett’s helmet partially pulled off with his hand on the back of Garrett’s helmet. Garrett’s right hand appears to be under Rudolph’s legs/butt area.

I agree the whole thing doesn't happen if Garrett doesn't make that hit. However the dramatic escalation was caused by Rudolph pulling on the back of Garrett's helmet.

One has to wonder what was being said while Garrett was laying on top of him if anything.

If anything egregious was said I’m sure it would be known by now - there were a lot of players around

Ahhhh rudolph did get something....he got hit in the head with his own helmet on a haymaker arc.   I would say he was the injured party.

Yep and everyone saying he’s “fine” - well, he’s alive and he didn’t get knocked out. But concussion symptoms often show up days after so let’s not assume he’s “fine”

Especially when you take 5 minutes to wake up from being KTFO and 30 seconds from needing a defib. Just a few weeks before...

Meh ... Too much hype over very little.

Rudolph had a lousy game and took offense to getting knocked down again. Words were spoken and Rudolph tried to rip Garrett's helmet off. They got to their feet amid another player or two and Garrett rips Rudolph's helmet off and swings wildly one time and connects, one time

In the mean time, Pouncey throws 6 punches and one kick to the head on Garrett who was being held down.

Ogunjobe or whatever, needlessly knocks Rudolph to the ground.

Suspend Ogunjobe 1 game and the others 4 games each.

The Gronkowski elbow to the back of Tre White's head was far more disturbing and a much bigger assault. But hey, he's a patriot and a fan favorite.

Where in these photos is Rudolph swinging a football helmet at the head on an unprotected fellow NFLPA member who recently had a very serious concussion?

A little late to the conversation I see. Go back and read my previous posts about what I said about Garrett and the punishment he should receive.
