Beane didn’t draft him but McD signed off on it I guess

They traded up to get him, so McD probably did more than just sign off on him. But hey, they gave him plenty of chances and he worked hard but it just didn't work out.

Good Luck Zay.  I liked you as a person, just not as a football player.  I wish you well on your future.

I hated Zay so much that I actually grew to dislike him as a person. That's probably absurd but it's true. Him and his weird ass family can try another city.

A 5th for Zay is pretty good but in retrospect, the 5th is a terrible return on a player that the team traded up to get, bypassing JuJu Shuster Smith.  If McDermott made that call then damn....terrible waste of a draft pick

Coach McD made the call.  He hired Jay's WR coach to be his first WR coach and he said that Jay was the most ready player for NFL that he ever saw.  He (the coach) only lasted one year in Buffalo with players complaining he was not able to help them improve game like coach dismissed by Coach McD.

Absurd? Yes, definitely.

Honestly, I couldn't.  I didn't think Zay would see the field again here as long as Duke does well and Foster comes back from injury, but I thought we would keep him as depth.

But then I never saw us cutting both Murphy and McCoy either, and no question our RB room has been thinner than we'd like.

I hope Beane is planning to bring someone in, and I hope he's good.

They may not plan on adding to the RB corps.  What if Daboll is planning on passing more?  His E-P offense seems to depend more on the WR and TE positions.

Because the Bills will package pick to move in 2020 draft?

No, I was just making a general statement unrelated to this thread.

Gruden might know what he is doing more than the average stadium wall poster.

I don’t believe we have ever met, but I trust you more than Gruden. He had a reputation with players back in my Tampa market days. It was not a good reputation.

I don’t hate picks a year or more down the road. As long as the staff feels secure, it can be a good thing to get an earlier pick, even if you have to wait. It’s like finding a $20 in your pocket!
