Race the three, then say Allen is a bad racer and a terrible pick to drive. Got it. You cannot judge the three QBs in a vacuum. You need to look at the team around them. So, the rookie QB in his first start with a seive for an o-line and receivers that lathered their gloves with butter *didn't* throw for 300 yards and 4 TDs? Well, guy's obviously a bust. Honestly this game isn't as big of a negative as it seemed like it was going to be in the first half. I think the second half is big for this team psyche. Allen's picks cost them the chance to do anything even remotely competitive (esp that first INT where had they gotten it and the PAT they would have only been down 8 with a ton of time left) but Allen got the garbage time TD which should only help grow his confidence and his teammates confidence. The defense played well in the second half which should build their confidence and allow the coach to try and reproduce that style of play more frequently. The only score they allowed was off a pick that put the opposing offense deep into their territory. The offense didn't look hot but they got some sense of momentum in the second half scoring early in the half to bring the game to some sort of sense of competitiveness and driving deep into the Chargers territory when it was a 2 score game. This is still going to be a bad season but at least there look to be some positives emerging from it.
Brianmoorman4jesus
Might as well get this rookie season out of the way for Allen. It’s going to take some getting used to and it sucks knowing the year is a throwaway. I hope Fraiser gets fired tomorrow but I fully expect no change and our defense to get embarrassed again next week. It’s hard to take knowing the Bills are going to just lose every single week but that’s just reality.

One thing I already like about Allen is his ability to bounce back. He makes two brutal throws in the first half on that Murphy crossing route and then over throwing Jones I believe over the top. Then we get the unsportsmanlike and he makes a great throw on the corner comeback route to Clay. Then in the second half he throws that back breaking pick to seal the game, but still comes back for a nice garbage time TD drive. Lots of young QBs (*cough* Peterman) would get down and not be able to bounce back quickly from that stuff. Decision making will only improve as he plays more, he will throw a lot of picks and take a lot of sacks (both a product of his inexperience and his O-line) but he will also improve as the season goes as experience will be his best teacher. I still wish the team had a decent vet QB to throw out there instead of him (experience is a great teacher but I worry his footwork will be negatively impacted by playing behind such a bad O-line and I think rookies are best suited to sit a year at least) but throwing Allen to get experience is not a bad option at this point. GrizzReaper
Well... Better than last week. I can see Allen just needs some more experience seeing where pressures coming especially. I'm encouraged by what I saw I think he's going to get a lot better as he gains more experience analyzing defenses pre snap. I think McDermott took over the play calling in that 2nd half so it'll be interesting to see if there's serious heat on Frazier. The defense was better in the 2nd half. Tremaine Edmunds was being picked on. He'll get better as he builds up his experience. Rivers really abused the rookie. As he sees more and more that misdirection stuff like that, he won't fall for it at some point and that'll be nice when the lights finally turn on there. Special teams whewwww that punt that turned into a touchback was ugly... Idk why they didn't dead that ball asap it was inside the 5... Too greedy cost a nice field position switch. The o line looked better... Still nothing stellar but better than last week. I think Allen also needs more experience setting up his protection hopefully the line gets better as they play more games together. That's really important in the trenches that chemistry and that's going to take time and live games. I wasn't expecting a win here and I wasn't even really expecting this game to be close. I just wanted to see some improvement and I did to an extent. McDermott still had a long ways to go.

I know, I am just playing devils advocate with Tyrod (pointing out that you can skew and frame things in whichever way you want to.) I thought the team should have kept him for one more year but the return on him was pretty good so I understood the move. I was more so mad they traded AJ and fell for NP again. But I thought Tyrod was the perfect competent QB to have for one more year (he is gone at this point no use in dragging it up what's done is done I just think that Allen shouldn't be compared to Tyrod because they are completely different QB's and Tyrod's situation in Buffalo was different than Allen's now. The stats don't tell the whole story on either player and I think the comparisons should stop.
