There's one thing wrestlers do: they prepare and understand the process. Military buffs do one thing well...flank. But when the flank fails, they typically have no other strategy. If they win this weekend I would agree with you. Beating a KC team that is falling apart after that 3 game stretch doesn't completely right the ship. This weekend will be a good indication of where Mcdermott has the football team. If they get the brakes beaten off of them than this team is no better than the hand full of middling teams we have had over the last 17 years. Playing the Pats close this late in the year would give me optimism that they can play with anybody and possibly win the games needed down the stretch to steel a playoff spot. Beating Ne would be a huge feather in Mcdermotts cap. Buffalo would quickly become a favorite to get into the playoffs. Even if the team came up short of the playoffs a win Sunday grants him faith that he may be equipped to right this franchise. Imo it the equivalent of Michigan beating Ohio St or Auburn beating Alabama. Beating the Patriots when it matters most buys Mcdermott a lot of time with the fan base to build this franchise. Beating the Patriots in December is extremely difficult. Billicheck has the highest winning % of any coach in NFL history in December.
