Youth!

We get tagged as being "old" a lot, but it's mainly Hyde, Poyer & Miller who are getting into their '30s.

Cook, Kincaid, Groot, Davis, Knox, most of the O-line, Oliver, Benford, and of course, Allen.  A lot of great young players just getting into their prime on this team.

Gotta love it.

It’s cuz we are not as old as those people like to say we are and we have lots of young talent or talent in their prime

Depending on the week and the metric, the Bills are one of the top eight oldest teams in the league.

Why are you here?

It looks like we finally hit on some offensive draft picks in Cook, Kincaid and Torrence.

If all 3 of those can build on their starts to the season in the next few games it is going to make such a difference to this football team.

Cook at 124 yards on the ground today his second game as the prime back

Did Devon Singletary ever do that for us?

O’Cyrus Torrence played another solid game. This guy is on the path to becoming our best O-Lineman and it will happen very soon. He is impressive.

oh no...you've put the Spencer Brown hex on him....

Bills suddenly look like they have a strong foundation of young players to build around Josh Allen with as we look forward and envision the next window without guys like Poyer, Hyde, White (potentially), Morse etc...  Of course, the hope is we win it all with them and then move into the next window.

Key players 26 & under with multiple years on their current deal..

Defense will likely need some retooling in coming years, but if Oliver has turned the corner... they will have a strong core for the next few years in Oliver, Rousseau, Von and Milano to build around.

Offense is really looking solid with Davis and Morse being the question marks after this season.

RB:

James Cook 23

OL:

Connor McGovern 25

Ryan Bates 26

O'Cyrus Torrence 23

Alec Anderson 23

Spencer Brown 25

Ryan VanDemark 25

WR:

Khalil Shakir 23

TE:

Dawson Knox 26

Dalton Kincaid 23

Quinton Morris 24

DL:

Greg Rousseau 23

Ed Oliver 25

LB:

Terrel Bernard 24

Dorian Williams 22

CB:

Christian Benford 22

Kaiir Elam 22

If Cook continues to do well and Bernard holds his own, the opinion on the 2022 draft class will change. Add a real find in Benford and that's pretty good. Elam is the question mark but maybe it's more they struck gold with Benford vs. Elam is a bust, it could be they have 2 good CBs. Shakir is a contributor from the 5th, Spector made the team 2 years.

The Araiza thing was unfortunate.

So far the '23 draft is looking good.

Very valid point made by many about oldest vs. youngest team not being a big difference.

Yea.. I could care less about the average age metric.

We could easily become much younger next year if we are replacing Hyde, Poyer and spending draft picks on the DL again.

Wonder if we pay Davis if he has a great year. I was in the super minority that we re sign him this past off season and draft a Diggs replacement in a year or 2

I've wondered this as well.  Especially if we're looking at wholesale changes on the Defense.

Can probably move off Morse if we want and have Bates move into the Center role.   If we extend Davis, all we're really looking to fill on Offense (fingers crossed on Brown at RT) are some depth roles.

Would allow the team to focus on DL and S in the draft to restock DT, EDGE and Safety with some young talent.

That being said.. I could go either way on Davis, because 15M or so on Davis (if that's feasible) might be better spent on extending Jones and Floyd, while using an early pick at WR.   And even then, to get under the cap with spending like that could require a surprise cut to Tre White if he doesn't bounce back to reliable high end CB1.

We could also move McGovern to Center and start Edwards at LG granted we'd have to sign Edwards long term.

Agreed on everything but Tre. He looks like he's fully back and a legit CB1 but I haven't seen all 22 breakdowns. That 1 on 1 vs Wilson was damn near perfectly played, the ball just took a fluke bounce into Wilsons body

Move benford to safety and our entire secondary starts to look young. Looking forward to seeing young Jonathan and VanDemark play more as the season goes on.

Why? He looks great at CB
