I would do a second for Hopkins in a heartbeat. Take the TE  Washington in the first

Allen

Diggs, Hopkins, Davis, Shakir, Harty, Sherfield

Knox and washington

cook, Harris, Hines

that would likely be the best offense in the league

I may be tempted to go OL, even a 2nd round rated IOL in the 1st, and grab TE in the 3rd in this scenario, but what you described also sounds awesome/very difficult to defend.

Let’s look at WR drafted in the 2nd round the past few years… AJ Brown, Deebo Samuel, Tee Higgins, DK Metcalf, George Pickens … I’m sure there are more.

Are we really going to pretend that the only way to get an all-pro WR is to trade away our draft picks to get one? Or is it that you guys are completely done with Beane and think he can’t find us a good WR?

This is insane.

i don't think there are any of those sorts of WRs available in the draft this year in the 2nd.  And no, I also don't trust Bean to find a good WR.

Purdy, Foles and Brady are qbs that over achieved.   I dont expect that from Barkley or K. Allen.  Do you?

foles had a stretch he could never repeat. Let’s see if purdy can continue. Brady was an anomaly. Again. How many teams have two franchise qbs.

Rodgers was also an anomaly too, right?

Regardless, that's not the point of the comment that I originally made.

We are one bad play away from being in another 17 year drought was all I was getting at.  Why not protect that for as long as you can?

Ah, the always impressive "I know you are but what am I" response. Savage!

Seriously, you're telling me you look at these two posts:

boards are going to hell in a hand basket.

...and your conclusion is that the second is the totally rude and personal one while the first is just a totally innocent, objective statement of fact (nothing personal at all!). Sure. I mean, I guess if you're living on your own personal bizarro world?

As for "others agreeing with me" I guess I'd compare the handful of those who did with the now 320+ board members who voted in the poll and extended this thread to 9 pages. Apparently a lot more thought there was, in fact, room for another thread, your ALL CAPS bewilderment notwithstanding.

Again, as other have repeatedly pointed out, just ignore the thread if you don't like it. Nobody's forcing you to interact.

Yes. When we have 200 page topic on one item and I ask "why in gods name do we need another topic on this" (and people agree)  and instead of replying why, you make it a personal comment against me..

Just friggen stop for Christ sakes. My question wondering why we need another topic lead you to say "Wow, life must be pretty tough"  Seriously think I won't defend myself?

Enough....  Get over it.

Hey, I wasn't the one triggered by a new topic on a message board. Would be good if you took your own advice.

'Cause I wanted to do a poll to see where people stand on the issue of a 2nd rounder for DHop. Sorry if that offends you, but I don't think burying a poll in the middle of a 216-page thread will really give us a sense of where most people stand.

If you'd prefer yet another thread on someone we should or should not draft, maybe I can better serve you next time.

I'm not offended. Why do people automatically assume " I offended you" when asked questions like this? My God

I would do it, I like Diggs, but I don't love him.  There just something about him I'm not comfortable with.   I think having  D hop still gives us some flexibility, if Diggs files off the handle a bit.  I would try to send a 3rd and a player or 2, but nor Rouso.   Maybe oliver, Aj, or Boogie.

Again I have to ask...how would the Bills PAY Hopkins?

Yes.  Won"t we get another 3rd rounder for losing Edmunds? Almost a replacement pick for the second we would give up for a proven player.

It's not a replacement pick. That's just a nice way of spinning things.

It's an entirely different pick. If we don't trade for DHop away, we would have TWO 3rd rounders. That's a LOT better than one.

This is simply a way to try to spin something people want. It's like people who win some money at the casino saying, "Hey, why not bet it, it's just house money."

And it's not. That is a logical fallacy. Once you win it, it's not their money anymore. Assuming we will get a 3rd rounder for Edmunds, that's not a house pick. It's our pick. It's an asset that we can use to pick a player. If we trade it away, we won't have it anymore, we will have lost it, and it will not be replaced.

honestly I’m not as down on the line as most are. I think we upgraded at guard over saffold. Morse and Dawkins are good. Bates is average but it was also his first year as a starter and I am expecting brown to be better actually having an offseason this year. Allen is part of the reason they don’t always look great as well. He holds the ball to make the big play too often rather than checking it down. If he checked down more the line would look better.

I actually would be surprised if the bills draft a lineman in the first 3 rounds. Their starters are set (Beane isn’t benching brown this year). They already have young guys with upside in Doyle and Brown. Proven starter with edwards and Quesenberry as backups and a guy they obviously like in Boettger.

Sounds like the same faulty Bills' philosophy when it comes to their O-Line--these guys have potential, so let's stick with them no matter how they actually play: see Bates and Brown..., 'and we have this nice depth too with these cast offs. We can coach them all up, make do; we have such a great QB and he will continue to mask this weakness with his big arm and running ability'.

But this has not played out well for the Bills, and clearly, dramatically, undervalues how vital a good/great offensive line is to a championship team.

Yes, part of the problem is the lack of short game in the offense, but I don't believe that is Allen's fault--he did just fine with that when he had Beasley, a high level slot receiver, and a coordinator knowing how important it was to use most of the field.

But more often than not, it seemed Josh was not just under undue pressure while waiting for the big play down field to develop, but often immediately running for his life.  Yes, he made a lot of those plays, but if he is almost always in that position his teams will never be championship caliber. Never. A lesser QB with this line?  Could be one of the weakest NFL teams.

Time to give Josh Allen and the Bills' offense the foundation in O-line talent that has been the most glaring weakness of the Beane era, which has been excellent overall.  Most rankings of  offensive line performance for the 2022 season has the Bills very low, such as 25th by pro football network and 28th by lineups.com.

The Bills cannot compete at the high level they have been working at the last 3-4 years unless this weakness is addressed in a real way, finally.

I believe (or hope?) that will happen in this year's draft and continues into the off season.

If this happens, my guess is that it's after the first round. Beane will see how the board falls. If the stud OL/LB/TE that they are targeting drops then he takes that player and makes the trade for a second. If a stud WR drops, he may pick up the WR and pass on the deal or offer a 3rd, knowing there are not a lot of suitors.

I totally get that! That's why I used the word "Almost". lol   Does not matter anyway, I forgot that would be for next year.  I was just saying that If we got the pick this year, it would help ease the blow of losing a second.  we would get D Hop and still have 6 picks.  Not even by any means, but I like getting a proven player, knowing he might be what we need for THIS YEAR to get over the hump.

Not sure if you know this or not but Watkins started a Flat Earther Cult.  They're going to travel until they reach the end of the Earth and then take a selfie to prove all of us wrong.

not giving up more than a 3rd rounder for DHop with that contract.   youre doing Zona a favor just taking his contract away from them,  let alone give them picks.

im betting nobody bites on trading for DHop and Zona just ends up releasing him.   contract is gone,  then teams with tight caps can have him at a discount.

No thanks.  Wrong side of 30.  Separation skills dwindling.  I'd rather take a shot on a receiver in the draft with a round 1-3 pick.

Lol huh? Wrong side of 30? Dude is literally only 30 years old. How can he be on the wrong side?

A Zaxby’s opened about a mile from us maybe 5 years ago. I eat out A LOT (like lunch daily) yet I’ve never been in any Zaxby’s, even the one right up the road. Anyone have opinions on Zaxby’s?  I guess I should try it.  🤷‍♂️

I’ve never even heard of Raising Cane’s, so I guess they are not around here.

We don't have Zaxby's out here in California, but I've traveled in the South a handful of times the past few years and always find my way to a Zaxby's.  They make a good fried chicken sandwich and the french fries were good as well.  I don't eat much fast/junk food, but Zaxby's gets a thumbs up from me when I want to cheat.

Sorry, I thought we were all familiar with the "wrong side" idiom.  It means you've officially reached that age (in Hopkins' case - 30 years of age).  When it comes to sports like football and basketball, players tend to decline as they age into their 30s.
