Mikie2times
Last 4 games: 98 of 169, 58%, 942 Yards, 6 TD's to 2 INT's, 80.53 Rating 2021: 47 of 84, 56%, 449 Yards, 3 TD's to 1 INT, 77.92 Rating 2020 Regular Season: 396 of 572, 69.2%, 4544 Yards, 37 TD's to 10 INT's, 107.1 Rating 2019 Regular Season: 271 of 461, 58.8%, 3089 Yards, 20 TD's to 9 INT's, 85.31 Rating So what we have seen this season and over the last 4 games is at or below the level of play we have seen in 2019. Which looks right from what I observed, in fact, I would say this team looks very much like the 2019 team. Allen capable of making plays, excellent defense. Playoff team, but not consistent enough to be more. The question becomes what's going on with Josh? To me Josh looks confused and indecisive which leads to a breakdown of his mechanics and poor timing in our passing game. He doesn't know where he wants to go with the ball and that is concerning. Why isn't he reading defenses as easily as he did in 2020? It seems it is not at all uncommon for QB's that have break out years to regress the next year once teams focus on taking away what they like to do with consistency. It was certainly a lot easier to communicate and audible last season. Whatever it is I don't think the answers are easy or simple. We will see soon enough. 11 2 1

Locomark
Actually I liked many of his decisions today. He threw the ball away like 5-6 times instead of taking dumb sacks like he used to. They still aren’t in sync yet, but it’s not unusual for offenses to not put up big numbers early in a season. Let’s see what happens the next 2 weeks where there is a big chance to put up back to back 300 yd games. Beasley isn’t getting as wide open as he was last year either. Teams have figured out how to bracket his option routes. Edited September 19, 2021 by Locomark 1 10

Jobot
It's unsettling for sure. The good thing is the run game has picked up which may change the offensive identity moving forward. But damn, not the story that I wanted with regards to Josh.

Southern_Bills
It's week 2, team is 1-1 and even not at full speed still the best team in the division. Calm down, it's a long year. He wasn’t very impressive either and that was after 8 years of professional football. Give the kid a chance to adjust. He just played a great defense and we scored 35 points. We didn’t score 10. Real McClappy
Can easily say the Oline is playing in 2019 form as well. Chief Loves Bills
I rarely post because I most enjoy reading and learning but this topic has me frustrated. I get it, it’s two games and we can’t draw season-long conclusions with such little data. However, call it a feeling, Josh just doesn’t look the same. He’s missing what he made last year. He threw two lobs today that very easily could have been picked. I know we won and overall it was a nice road win. Defense was outstanding today. I’m thinking ahead, thinking division and playoffs because we are good enough to do that this early in the year but the Josh we have seen these last couple games isn’t going to cut it against good teams. I love Josh and I’m not saying anything silly like “it’s over” or “Josh isn’t the guy.” Nowhere near that sentiment. Just a little concerned. 3

Big Blitz
8 of his incompletions today were to Sanders and Diggs who were covered by Howard and Jones. Why does he ignore Beasley in such large stretches?? Again, perspective. 2 elite corners that had elite days. I thought Josh had 3-4 bad throws I'm not sure I'd say the INT was one of them. He's going to be fine. His start is the least of my concerns.

Mikie2times
I think all the mechanical issues, especially his back foot throws are because he isn't decisive in where he is throwing. He eventually see's it, but not soon enough to step up in the throw. So i don't think it's as simple as fixing mechanics. I think it's in his reads on the field. I did enjoy the win, but I was looking at Allen hard this year just based on what level of play he needs to be at to beat Brady or Mahomes. This is going to be a playoff team even if Allen keeps playing the way he has. I just was looking for "next step" evidence.

While I agree with the overall question in the post in that Allen is struggling I'd say your answer is also total BS! Every contract signed by a top player is going to be larger than prior contracts so that means little. At this point in time who has pocketed more money life time Brady or Allen? PowderRiver
What’s amazing to me is how we win 35-0 and played two top defenses and all we can do is focus on is Josh last years Josh or 2019 Josh. Josh Allen is Josh Allen. He’s going to put up some big numbers in games this year too. It’s not a this or that thing to focus on. Bangarang
He’s been mediocre at best and if we’re being honest he’s been bad more than he’s been good. Tom Brady grew up in a different league than the one he plays in now. Comparatively to each others peers, Brady was better in the early 2000’s NFL than Allen was in the 2020 era. He won two Super Bowls and was top 10 in nearly every metric since he took the helm. He lead the league in TD passes his first full year as a starter. We are fine sticking with Allen through bumps. He’ll be fine, we will be fine. We have to be. But pulling up an excel sheet and blindly comparing Allen to Brady at any point in their careers is an incredibly bad and inaccurate take.
