Levi Wallace - gives out phone # to to pray for you or talk football today

Recommended Posts

I texted him earlier and he just called me back. Said he was working his way through a list of about 120 texts.

I asked him about playing for Saban vs McDermott. We talked about Atlanta. Nice dude.

I doubt many people will be bothered to abuse his number, and it's easy enough to block people nowadays. But yeah, it's probably a burner or an app-number.

Ok.  If this isn’t a request for me to send nude pics, I don’t know what is. Request granted!

What response did you get back teef? This is what he sent me back after only 2 seconds:

? ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Today's jargon is kind of lost on me, I think he's trying to tell me he wants to go hit up Applebees roadside pickup for some mini corndogs but can't be sure...

What’s next? Kissing babies? (That’s not allowed these days!)  This sounds like a clever ploy to become a fan favorite, making him tough to demote or cut!

I kid, this is absolutely awesome. I really can’t remember anything like this! Gotta love it!

Joe Biden almost did this on live TV the other night when he was feeling bad for people dealing with mental health issues due to COVID-19. It was crazy. Showed how pure his instincts are.

Kissing babies or giving his phone digits out?

I called a couple hours ago, got the answering machine.   I hung up without leaving a message.

Fifteen minutes ago I was watching the video of the 1984 Bills upset win over the Cowboys when my phone rang.   It was Wallace, calling back.   I mean, who does that?   The guy is just talking to fans to make them feel good.

I said about McDermott.  He said he is genuine.    It's about commitment, competing, and hard work, and the locker is full of guys who feel the same way.   They all buy the message and they all play for each other.   He said McDermott believes it, and believes he has a responsibility to do his job as well as possible, because he asks himself to commit just like he asks his players to commit.

I asked him to compare McDermott to Saban, and he said Saban is the same.   Saban's more animated, but he has to be to get and keep the attention of the players, who are just growing up.   He said Saban cares about his players like McDermott does.  Demands perfection.

Says he knew Daboll, because he played defense against him every day in practice at Alabama.   LIkes him a lot personally.  I didn't ask what he thought about him technically.

Nicest guy.   Just listened to me ramble on, ask questions.

I love this. The gesture is so cool.
I would just like to thank him for his effort and compassion. kind of awesome really.

and thanks for sharing 66 !

EDIT: I told a buddy about this and he called and left a message. He got a return call and this is a copy of a text summary of their talk:

He called me back too - you’re right - who does that ??!! I asked him two questions [1] If players go back on July 1st and lose OTAs how much does that hurt the team? Answer: OTAs are not a big deal, it’s mainly relationship building. But July 1 with Training Camp is more intense and where you truly improve your craft. That’s what he is aiming for. For now, he’s working out daily and keeping up his conditioning and his strength.  [2] Where do you need to personally improve as a player going into the 2020 season. Answer: I need to improve in every aspect. I’m not satisfied one bit. Backpedaling, catching, reading formations, everything. We have a great secondary and I want to be a big part of it. [3] Told him how great it is to speak with the fans. Told him I’m calling from LA, watch every game, watch news on the Bills 365 days a year and wished him great success in the coming season. And I would now say thank you and goodbye so he could return the next call.

and that how to be a great fan right there !

Cheer them all.

Thank you Augie for sharing

Well, Levi is one hell of a guy for doing this, talk about a good hearted man. This is another part of why we are so fortunate to have the Owners, GM and coach we have, they bring in guys like Levi, Dion, and more.

Go Bills!!!

I never really looked into Levi’s playing history before today. Quite impressive that he walked on to Alabama and became a starter while winning the National Championship.  Then he goes un drafted  in the NFL and makes the team. It takes a lot for Person to do that.

What a classy good guy!  Left a message, sure enough, he called me back.  I can't believe it.  A gentleman with class.

And a favorite forevermore for me.  Wishing him every good wish to lock down that starting cornerback job as long as he wants it.  I would not be against him given all he has overcome.  Says the defense is really close knit.  Loves living in Buffalo.

Go Bills!  Go Levi!!

Wow! Levi actually called me back and we chatted on the phone for about 5 minutes!

My question was this: what advice would you have for my student athletes regarding dealing with playing time? It seems this younger generation has the mindset of "starter" or "nothing": Mahalo and GO BILLS!

He was so awesome to chat with and had incredible advice regarding how players need to take everyday as an opportunity to continue to work hard and learn so that when their moment comes up, they can take full advantage of it. Another thing he shared, that really hit home with me, was that his goal in life is to not be remembered as a football player but rather a good friend, team mate, husband, or father one day, and that the work ethic behind doing your best for the group/others is the key towards achieving that.

What a genuinely good dude!

For some weird reason he is my sons favorite player. Left a message and text hoping he will reach out to him but know he has lots of Bills fans to get back to.

If he doesnt get a hold of you tonight, keep an eye on the phone tomorrow. When I talked to him around 4:30, he said he was going to keep working down the list for "another couple hours maybe" and then pick it back up tomorrow.

It’s like Santa, spread pretty thin!  He got back to my buddy, I sure hope he gets back to you and your son! Nothing cooler than making a kid’s day! Something he’d remember forever.

That’s it. Corner #2 is done. This team is Super Bowl bound.

Super cool move by a guy whose always been one of my favorites.

Think I’ll shoot him a text just to say I’m rooting for him.

On a similar note, not sure if it made the forum or not, but the Edmunds brothers were in their hometown (near my town) last week serving lunches to school kids who are missing out on lunch with school closed. We got some really A+ dudes on our team- plenty to root for, and be proud of!

What time did you text him. My 11 year son is really hoping he will call.

I just texted him a most sincere and profound thank you, but no need to respond to me. There are kids out there who would benefit much more. Hope he gets to you and your son.

Roundabouts where are you located down there? I spent the past three years living between Clarksville and South Boston. Used to go eat at The 616 in Danville every week or two.

5:05 PM Hi Levi, my name is Joe F.  I am a Bills season-ticket holder who lives in North Carolina.  I think that what you are doing to communicate with fans is tremendous, particularly at this difficult time.  Your story of perseverance through the grief of losing your dad is amazing.  You are an inspiration. Particularly to young Bills fans.  Stay well. God Bless.  Go Bills!

7:54 PM:  Thank you.  Just doing my best.  Have a great night.  God bless! And be safe!

Amazing young man!

I feel like calling him and asking if he likes nickname "Kid Flash".

The character's name in comic is Wallace.

He seems a fun guy and should talk to DC comics about doing a guest appearance in comic (most likely just a page or 2).

Update: I sent text to him suggesting it.

We sat near Tremaine's mom, dad and maternal grandma at the Cowboys game.  First off Ferrell Edmunds is still a damn beast.  Second Tremaine comes from great stock.  Mrs. Edmunds and Grandma are the best.  We had so much fun talking with them.  This team is special.  Beane and McDermott know how to build a team that will bond and fight for each other..I think the Bills are built for the long-haul...

Having a tough week and this whole thread just really lifted my spirits. Thanks Levi.

Hope you feel better soon!  I’ve been reading your posts for what seems like several years, but I’m new to board with regards to leaving feedback. As it seems like with you, Levi really lifted the spirits of my 11 year old son and we had a great time with the phone call today.  Take care and best to you!

WELCOME! Don’t praise Yolo too much. There was an occasion a month or two ago where he did NOT break a big story. It’s almost like.....I don’t know.......he might have a real life?

VERY happy you, and more importantly your son, got that call. Awesome stuff, and maybe Levi can be the next Russ Brandon when his playing days are over! (Without the .....extra stuff, of course!)

Other side of Danville near Martinsville but I’m in Danville regularly. Wife works there and has bumped in to Edmunds family members a couple times. Seems like a great family.

What’s 616? Haven’t heard of that. There’s a 716Wings joint that offers authentic buffalo fair, but I just learned of them a couple weeks ago- they have a food truck that I’d gone to at some festivals in the area but I never knew they had a brick and mortar. I’ll definitely be checking it out next time I’m over there!
