I know it might sound pre mature but I think this kid is gonna be a bust. Which is what I’m hoping for. Jets haven’t had a QB since West side Story was popular LOL. I just don’t see the IT factor in Darnold

Great historical reference!

This is the absolute MOST disturbing thread topic, ever.

Simply wanted to point that out.

After some of the vitriol and venom spewed on this board of late, I think we were ready for a departure.

As much of a bummer as it is to be coming off a loss and waiting for Allen to clear concussion protocol...It must be a MASSIVE bummer to be coming off THREE straight losses and hoping our quarterback doesn't literally die on the field this coming Sunday.

Didn't Phil Sims' son have to retire because of a ruptured spleen?

I could just Google his name, but feeling too lazy to care. Just remember he was the QB for the Bucs, lead them to the playoffs one year, then had a spleen injury that KO'd him from the season.

Kevin? Chris? Matt? Something like that. Pretty sure he's an NFL analyst on some network now.

I always thought the spleen was essentially just a larger appendix... why not just yank that sucker and pop er in a jar of brine?

Because it's not just a large appendix. It actually performs a major function in your body. It filters your blood as part of your immune system.

Sourced via WebMD:

The spleen plays multiple supporting roles in the body. It acts as a filter for blood as part of the immune system. Old red blood cells are recycled in the spleen, and platelets and white blood cells are stored there. The spleen also helps fight certain kinds of bacteria that cause pneumonia and meningitis.

Chris, and yeah he played most of the game with a ruptured spleen, missed only two plays and was taken to the hospital for "dehydration"

Adam Gase, Super Genius:

"Adam Gase’s desperate desire to bring Sam Darnold back to save the day ultimately put the Jets in a bigger bind entering this weekend’s game in Philly.

Gase gave Darnold the lion’s share of first-team practice reps all week only to learn Thursday night that the franchise signal caller won’t be medically cleared to face the Eagles."

Kind of hard to criticize that decision.  They're not beating the Eagles with their third-string QB no matter how many reps he gets, so you might as well give the first-team reps to the guy who gives you a chance to win if he can play.
