AB is the hand grenade and the Patriots are the enclosed space.

I mean good for the Patriots.  They were complete fools to give this guy a contract.  There is no amount of process or locker room personality that's going to fix that guy.

I learned a long time ago not to hold athletes to any moral standard.

Boston sports fans come out of the womb with this idea imprinted in their DNA. Not a surprise coming from a Pats fan but it's pretty disgusting.

If he is good for the team and helps them win sure why not. Like I said. I could give a rats behind how he is as a person. I dont know him

When Kraft sold his soul to the devil it must have been a package deal.

It would likely never happen, but I think it would be pretty effing awesome if a group of Pats* starters got together and told BB and Kraft that, "if AB suits up, we will not be."  Of course, that kind of "standing up for what you believe," behavior has been successfully deterred.  But I think it would be great.

I think they’ll be fine

if ab plays they are a better team and win more. winning more means getting paid more. theyd be only hurting their own paychecks

I realize all of that.

That's a big part of why players standing up for what's right would be so significant.

I'd say they're playing chicken with the league. If they suspend/fine AB he's done there but If the league does it he not only won't count against the 53 but If he somehow weathers this shitstorm they can say "hey we were on your side the whole time keep playing here."

Can this guy just go away already

It worked with Hernandez. They should ignore all red flags as long he’s making plays.how could they ever know that these guys are psychopaths? Not like there are any signs

Didn’t they stand by Hernandez pretty much until he was arrested? They don’t have a very good track record of being the leagues “moral compass.”

“I know there are questions about Antonio,” Belichick told reporters. “We take all the situations with our team very seriously, and there are some things that we’re looking into.

But I’m not going to have any comments on the off-the-field situations or questions on that. Anything on football, I’d be happy to answer.”

Asked if the off-the-field allegations complicate his ability to coach Brown, Belichick said, “When we work on football, we work on football.”

I disagree.  The absolute wisest thing to do, as HC/GM, is to be dismissive and evasive.

you mean like the Bills GM who told us

1.  he didn't know Rex was going to be fired

2.  he was not consulted on it, his opinion was never asked for

3.  he just found out Rex was fired at the press conference

4.  he has no opinion on the matter at all

The crappy Bills owner threw the GM to the wolves, there.  That was not a great Bills moment.

This just helps to magnify their contrived Us-Against-The World schtick. Except that these days, rather than simply pretending the world is against them, the world is, in fact, against the Patriots and their institutional unethical behavior.

Exactly!

AB is 100% the PERFECT Patriot. Everyone really IS against him, and everyone hates the guy. That is exactly what they feed off of.

Nothing would make them happier than AB being named SB MVP and totally, completely crushing America's soul. Then Brady retires so "someone else can win." Thus, anything Mahomes or Allen achieves is "yeah but" forever. A lasting legacy of crushed souls and dreams.

That is what gets them out of bed in the morning. As much as I hate it, it must be so much fun to constantly get over on your critics.

If she has these texts then the guy should be put on the exempt list immediately. The Pats should also show some sort of actual moral fiber and preemptively put him on leave or something.

no argument at all from me but as I read some of these responses i increasingly think the Pats wont, this will play into their win at any cost mentality.

Goddell needs to stand up for once, if not now, he will never be able to claim any moral high ground anymore.

These texts where he posts pictures of her kids and instructs someone to investigate her? They have been confirmed as real by SI.

...said Belichick's lawyer.

Q: "What did you know and when did you know it?"

A: "Harumph, grumble, etc."

It would have saved us all a lot of time if these stories came out 1 day earlier

Now we've got to watch this POS win a Super Bowl

They knew about it, they just didn't care.  When the first reports about the civil suit came out someone reported that the Raiders heard rumors of it before they released him.

conceding a sb win 2 games in to the season?

It’s bizzaro world in Pats land. Usually they start out slow, lull people into thinking they are finally done, all the articles come out, and then they win the rest of their games (except the one in S Florida) on their way to the SB. This year though, they started super hot, out scoring their first two opponents by 100, and won their road dolphins game. ?

It's how I've known the NFL to work.

We are watching a movie about the Patriots with other teams and players just there to add depth and interest to their story.

lets hope the ending is not in the evil empires favor this time.

I'm sick of the pats, like most are. I have a good friend who is a pats fan and he posted on fb that he predicts they will beat the bills 29-3, the record they have against the bills. talk about arrogant, that was a low blow but I called it bs and told him to be ready for a plate of crow. not that I was claiming a win but assuring him there is no ***** way the bills only score 3 points!
